Ironically, it hasn't been the defense that has cost us the 7 niners games. There were a couple of times the defense let us down, the most memorable one is the second 2019 contest when they allowed Garopolo to convert two 3rd and 16's on the final drive. That was Wade Phillips defense and probably the game that cost him his job. The other was week 17 last year when they allowed SF to march down in 1:27 to score the tying TD. But the offense has scored more than 20 just twice and were limited to 7, 16, 10 and 9 four other times. Plus we've had pick sixes in 4 of the last 6 regular season games vs SF. For the most part, when Sean McVay's Rams screw up any game (be it vs SF or anybody else), it's overwhelmingly because of the offense.
yeah its not really the defense... its that their defensive line decimates us.

I wonder how quickly CMC gets into the offense for the 9ers…

Maybe the presence of McCaffery makes Morris do something different defensively against those guys to take away the easy throws for Jimmy.

What last year showed is that beating the Niners in the regular season would be nice. But the only time it really matters is beating them in the playoffs should we face them. A whole lot of things could change for both teams between now and then. So I'm not going to stress over it. Beating them in the playoffs is far sweeter than during the regular season. That is the record that counts. Each time we do it's like cutting their hearts out. Bay Area suicides go up.

Well… it is all set up.

49’ers now think they are the team to beat in the NFC. It sure would suck for 49’er fans to lose this game. :laugh4:

GO RAMS!

They still have to try and beat the K.C. Chiefs this Sunday before facing us again, that should be telling.

The only problem with the chiefs winning is that when the whiners get beat the week before they play us they beat us. I would rather they beat KC and then lose to us next week.

I would rather they lose every game they play.

They will be up for us regardless. This game is really big for an early season matchup. And it's not like we'd ever luck into them being flat against us anyway.

Rams gotta take out the trash here. They gotta get it done again and put these fuckers down.

We can litigate X&Os all day long, but having witnessed this rivalry for the past 40+ years--Niners historically have been way more focused on kicking Rams ass.

Beating the Rams is fundamental to their identity as a team, a priority for their franchise, and an expectation of their fan base. As much as it pains me, I cannot say the same for the Rams
This! I have to go back to the 70s and 80s to remember the Rams coming out on fire against the niners. Lately they act surprised the Niners are playing so hard, and are unable to match their fire and passion.

People need to understand they had 10 starters out, top corner, LT, RT, top 3 Dl, SS got hurt, FS etc not easy to win when that much firepower is sitting on the bench.

Stop giving Garapalo any short to medium passes in the middle of the field. If he beats you on the sidelines, then good for him but his comfort zone is 5-15 yards near the numbers, and gets in trouble on the sidelines. Drives me nuts seeing him getting middle of the field passing lanes. raheem, enough. mcvay, step in man.
Key to doing that is making him uncomfortable with our rush which er didn't do last game. Or take a big risk and load the box with 8/9 to crowd that short area because it is hard to get much of a rush when the ball comes out in under 2 seconds do to the distance it needs to travel.

The #1 thing I believe on defense is not allowing Deebo to break loose for big plays.

Then offensively the o-line has to do better.
Have you noticed the D has given up a lot of big plays resulting in TDs this year - 2 in SF game - 2 in Buffalo etc. We must tackle better.

I gotta give you cred here oldnotdead, you do not mince words on your takes. :beer2::laugh3:

Also I expect we are going to see Raheem start dialing up more blitzes and calling it for these guys to play on their toes. We've already seen it with Ramsey and as the quality of the top guys improves in the secondary (Hill & Durant returning are very big for us) that will free up Raheem to call some shit that requires players to think a little more. He'll be raising the bar on the aggression in the games ahead for sure.
If we could get Burns we could go back to worked towards the end of the season last year and into the playoffs - playing 5 on the DL forcing one on ones for AD - our pressure rate must dramatically pick up.

1. Stop the run and force Jimmy GQ into 3rd and longer situations.

2. They will still throw short of the first down marker. FOR GAWD'S SAKES MAKE THE DAMN TACKLE!

Rams need to take away the dink and dunk. JG was garbage throwing down the field today. Make him beat us with his arm, and he will make mistakes.

KC had a nice game plan on BOTH sides of the ball.

They also schooled Bosa. He ran himself out of plays today. Fed right into the Chiefs hands.
