Kirk Collins should be mentioned. Back-up for two years but then became a starting CB in 1983 when John Robinson and Fritz Shurmur came on board.

Had five interceptions in the first four games before going out for tests. Turned out to be Cancer, and Kirk Collins died within six months.

I don't remember Collins. That's sad. Other than Greg Bell it's a JAG group
 
Elmendorf was a quality starting safety on one of the best defenses in the NFL for most of a decade.
