I love this tight end class. Keeping my eye on Mayer if he falls, Washington, Kincaid, and Kraft. Still need to check out Laporta but Iowa right?
I'd move up to get Mayer, he is that good. That said, they definitely wont and will trade down before they trade up so any of your list is good by me.
I'm fairly ambivalent when it comes to Higbee, I wouldnt get rid of him because he wouldnt garner enough value in a trade to replace him, so the peanuts saved cap wise appears to me as penny wise, dollar foolish. There is nothing on the roster behind Higbee. Hopkins is a joke, guy was deemed pro-ready on the receiving side, and here we are 3 years later with only 8 (reg season) career catches. Sure some guys suffer from being buried under a deep roster but Hopkins has faced competition at a position that has the depth of a kiddie pool

Higbee seems to get hurt a lot. Rams can't win with everyone on IR or dinged up so bad they can't play at 100%

Hopkins is good in the pattern but gets trucked too much on the line. Without Higs this TE group is a shambles.

Now if they think there is a great chance to get a TE they like in the draft maybe that can work.

Trading Higbee may be the less popular theory behind an overall team improvement, but outside of our OL this season, the TE position appears the weakest unit for our offense, so I'm willing to make a slight alteration in order to improve on our future here. Higbee is often an inconsistent player who isn't getting any younger. Both Higbee and Hopkins become free agents after the 2023 season, but Higbee offers a sizable post June CAP trade savings, he may also possess round 4 trade value. Hopkins is largely untested, I'd be sorry to see him lost to free agency without ever being granted permanent starting snaps. As inconsistent as our TE's have been, I could easily see the Rams taking 2 in this upcoming draft, especially since we may have 10 or more draft picks when all is said and done. jmo.

Cutting Brain Allen and saving 4.4 million in cap space would have to make the management think long and hard.

I'm not sure the others make as much sense. The Rams need to find one more pass rusher to help AD even if they keep Floyd. Letting him go would make it two edge rushers they would have to fine. Floyd is not playing up to his pay grade but, is always available. He may have been playing with some sort of injury. A lot of similarities with Higbee. To me, he seemed to not have his legs in the middle of the season. He would go down easier with cutting difficulties. Both played better down the stretch. Considering there is no alternative to Higbee on the current roster cutting him could be risky.

Coleman has versatility in the interior O Line. I doubt any worthwhile trades would be on the table for any of these players but, I'm sure Snead would research all the possibilities.

* With the Rams looking for scrap cap funds surely would be an incentive in the release of Brian Allen a proven injury-prone center.

*The results of the 2023 Draft where a possible starting center might have been secured or not.

*The final reviewed 2022 grade of Veteran Center/LG UFA Matt Skura would figure into what Mgt does.

*In addition the final reviewed grade of Center/RG Coleman Shelton would too....his snaps @ OC vs RG..

* There is also another OC who Carberry has some 2022 knowledge of Veteran Center/LG Practice Squad UFA Cole Toner.

We’ll they let Everett go and Hopkins hasn’t developed. Sko has shown some versatility. I don’t see Higs being a casualty.

Without Kupp and Higbee the short and middle game offense looks grounded to me. We don’t throw to the backs enough. The short game sucks with no TE who’s worth a shit.

In a Wednesday column, Washington Post NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported on various news around the league. One tidbit was on rumblings that Ramsey and Arizona Cardinals star receiver DeAndre Hopkins could be on the move.

Well I'd hope savings on releasing Allen would be applied to an upgrade at C or G. Help out the D by sustaining drives.

From that article:

“It’s a matter of when Rams star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins are traded, not if. And the GMs I have spoken to don’t believe those teams will get anywhere near the compensation that their fans might expect.”

I think this is certainly a possibility. But I think if the Rams think they can make another run for the Superbowl, J. Ramsey will be part of that team. If they want to rebuild, he's tradable. He'd be very difficult to replace his talent level. But you could get draft picks or draft capital for trading him. But I really think another Super Bowl Run, he's a Ram.

There's a reason why he's called "LaClownfora." He's never accurate when it comes to the Rams.

I'm not saying Jalen Ramsey can't or won't be traded. I'm just saying the above article sucks.

The problem with the article above, is that's it's sloppy reporting and lacks credibility.

For it to be credible, the author would need to at least try to address the cap implications. If Over-the-Cap is accurate, there is minimal cap-relief from trading Ramsey prior to June-1. A post-June 1 trade would result in significant cap relief but prevent the Rams from recouping any 2023 draft choice compensation because the Draft would have been completed.

The author lacks credibility by referencing the Ramsey tweet from last week, which was indeed cryptic and open to interpretation as the author did. However, amid the speculation, Ramsey explained the intention of the tweet within several hours. The author completely ignores that because it's inconsistent with the interpretation/narrative that Ramsey is gone.

Why would management have to think long and hard about Allen? He's proven to be extremely injury prone and I doubt his knees get better overtime. He's a easy one to see gone as they effed up (I know, I know) not addressing that position during a certain draft. Would surprise me if they attempt to address his position this off season. Gonna be interesting how the Rams revamp the o-line.

I don't see any of those guys being cut. But if there's one I think is possible, it's Brian Allen. Availability matters. Leonard Floyd played through injuries, played without Donald, and still produced a good year (9 sacks, a career high in QB hits, and near career bests in TFLs and tackles). He's a good, reliable player for us. I don't see us cutting him. We could use another guy like him.
Think you maybe right on Floyd. He really was playing well at the end. Played through injury. The fact The Rams we’re going to pay up for an edge rusher just shows his value.
-I will say having him on the right instead of the Left/OLB was silly by Thad against SD Chargers.
The Rams players love Higbee, when he got the game ball & broke Rams TE records meant a lot.

Of course there could be restructuring, & when it comes down to it The Rams won’t be afraid to do what they think is best.Wouldn’t have guessed Floyd signed as big of a contract he got.
The Offensive Line gets a New Coach(?) that will have choices to what that evaluation even looks like.

Didn’t read the post & just saw your response. My guess is Oldbutnotdead.

If your posting about myself,we’ll I don’t think I posted of this topic so would therefore have been eliminated until above post. Which I question what will happen either ways. Do think those were solid takes & could be right?. Could be the writer? Poster? Creater of article? Whatever you call that person that started the post the poster started the topic on.

Agree - do have to say Allen signed a 3 year contract to add insult 2 injury as they(Ram fans) say . lol-
Brian Allen was a twinner & a WASTED draft pick. The Rams had just signed John Sullivan to a 2 year contract extension. They had Austin Blythe as a swing(twinner) G/C.
Talk about a CAP Casualty. He was cut over Brian Allen when The Rams needed to draft a GUARD. Roger Saffold was going into his contract year. Yeah & Brown was The Rams RG who was young, but hopefully questionable???? Before the PED suspension.

New O”Line coach, but I BLAMED(no one else) Careberry for not figuring out say even how bad Bobby Evans was ? Kromer still has to be held on his lack of depth & cockiness for trusting not having solid depth?
2019 he got burned(MCVAY) & not getting ANY REPS in The Preseason is NOT GOOD for O”Lineman.
—IMO Noteboom needs The Reps to get his confidence, especially going against CRAP OLB/DE’s in training camps.
