Sounds like Bennett had another really good day. Took 100% of the QB2 reps per Sarah Bishop.
Simpson had a non-team drill day today. Hmmmmmmm...

Edit: I don't think I've ever seen this from a team before. He's had some inconsistency with footwork and mechanics in camp, I wonder if they wanted to just focus on that today. If so, I don't think I've ever seen that in an NFL camp before where you don't do teams for a day. Novel approach. Slows down his progress towards QB 2 but may pay big dividends as a QB 1 years from now.

A coach can't just plug a QB3 into all the snaps without eroding the good order and discipline of the roster. It would affect the mentality of the team overall as well, if the results are anything other than extraordinary. So McVay isn't going to take that level of risk to shove Simpson down the roster's throats.

The way it works is you reward the player with more importance as he earns it. Let that QB2 competition run its course. Start there, and see where it goes. Simpson doesn't need to be anything other than a redshirt this season. So there is no reason to push him up the depth chart. The players decide that on the field.
Didnt Bennett take all the preseason snaps last year as QB3? I would not be surprised if Bennett is held out of the preseason if they are counting on him being QB2.

Yeah if memory serves. And McVay probably did that because Jimmy's a known quantity with playoff experience and it was probably clear he was the superior choice to Bennett at that juncture.

But somewhere along the line that changed, at least irt Jimmy and cost of QB2 and Bennett as a cheaper option. So if McVay were to do that with Bennett right now and then Simpson kills it he's got a QB2 controversy on his hands.

I think the only thing that makes sense is those two QBs duking it out in camp. At least until it's clear who the winner is, and then if you want to focus in the snaps for the kid so be it. But at that point the QB2 role is won, one way or the other.

I think the plan since Draft Day (or January?) was to completely "Red-Shirt" him this year. I really do.

Maybe we've seen this every year with only 2 QBs getting reps. At least I don't recall Dresser Winn getting much in the way of team reps.

Maybe they are alternating days with Stafford - Bennett and then Bennett - Simpson.

If AD comes back, that might make Jimmy G a non option due the to cap. Right now only $15M under the cap. Of course they could always restructure a contract or two, but it might make it tough to add Jimmy.

His throwing motion is way too long and McVay commented on it this week. Looks worse now than his college tape to me idk why its weird

So my eyes are opening. All the worries of a serious 3rd receiving option may very well be handled by Ferguson. Wouldn’t that be special?

I GUESS from the Article & I’m guessing Isaac Bruce ?? Whoever knows knows ??? Then again I’m not going to take anything away from T. Ferg.
Veteran Ram said something about him & Simpson connecting?? I saw him miss a pass & got on him, plus he had a False start & got KICKED to the sidelines for a play. — I thought it was Bennett to him ? Whoever it was they threw 3 straight passes to that WR/TE ? Think maybe T. Ferg ??

The Player who STAFFORD keeps talking about & threw 3 straight passes to on 3 straight players was JORDAN WHITTINGTON!!! Dude’s a STUD . He is balling out.

Besides Daniels , — Xaiver Smith has been Flashing Bigtime. He is continuing where he left off last season.

Then this Mario Williams caught my EYES!! He was that guy who ran a PUNT RETURN that FLASHED he’s The MAN. Then he made a couple nice catches. There’s a couple of the Backups getting CUT for sure &
Won’t make The PRACTICE SQUAD this year.

When Jimmy G retired, I don't know that they had much choice on the backup QB position.

I disagree though with the article when it said that "the margin for error isn’t just slim, it’s practically nonexistent." IMO, having a great defense increases your margin for error. Also, it's not like Seattle has a great backup QB situation. Drew Lock isn't good.
