How bad is your ST's unit, when you gotta call a guy up who hasn't played in the NFL for 4 years??
Is our ST's unit really in this bad of a shape?? Stuard is a good pick up, as is our new coach, Ventrone. But I guess he's got his work cut out for him. That nasty break up with Bones has hurt us in many ways over the last few years.
The departure of Fassel had to happen, assistants cannot go rogue I blame Fassel more than McVay, but agreed I do obviously miss him.

McPhearson is an excellent signing with nothing to lose. Adds CB depth besides being a proven performer on ST’s with the ability to block punts too. Glad the Rams continue to look at upgrades across the roster as a whole.

About a month ago I saw a list of the top 10 plays from last year. Highlighted was a play the seahawks ran to beat the Rams secondary that was designed for multiple receiver sets to one side. The Rams played a diamond type coverage scheme with 4 DBs or 3 and a LB on the overloaded side. It was a pretty good scheme…until Seattle figured it out.

What really sucked was they stole a McVay idea that had been showcased much earlier in the year when his play calling was being heralded. He would set Nacua in the backfield a few steps and then have him release into his pattern. The delay was difficult for the defense to handle. Seattle put jsn in the same spot vs the Rams. The assignments had already been recognized and acted upon before jsn got out of the backfield and into the pattern.

Yes. TheRams defensive scheme got figured out.
At some point, the players just are the thing. Good stuff in that post.

What I think will be interesting is that the Rams should be able to be so much more effective in their base schemes.. and that means not needing to use their more "exotic" stuff as often, imo. And that should make the "exotic" stuff more effective.

We're gonna play dime like it's base in the 90s

Not saying, McPherson will make the cut, but if he’s a ST ace and can be good depth at CB5 maybe that’s the way to go. I don’t wanna take from Cam Lampkin, but he would really need to shine in preseason to convince me he deserves a 53 man roster spot.

Will the Rams prioritize teams over upside depth? I hope so. But I suspect not doing that has been one of McVay's issues with special teams.

Is it a case of McVay not wanting to risk starters on his special teams (much like preseason games)? I don't know. I do know on other teams I've seen starters playing teams. I don't mean 11 starters but one or two, two or three. It's important so, as we've seen, what good is a terrific offense and this year, a terrific defense, if special teams suck?

You think a guy coming off 2 years of retirement, who BADLY WANTS to play because of the surrounding cast, is worthy of and going to demand TOP DOLLAR? I don't care who he is, that doesn't sound logical.

Who knows what he'll demand. I'm just speaking on what he could demand. If I had to guess, he'll play for the $30 mil that was on his contract and they'll work some cap magic that spreads it out over 4-5 years.

As for what he's worthy of? We're talking about arguably the best defender in NFL history, and on of the greatest Rams ever. Yeah, he's worthy.

In some way, shape or form, he's prolly asking for about $50m.

Let's convert that 30 million to 25 million signing bonus and 5 mil a year salary for 2 years, with 2 void years. Spread that 25 mil signing bonus, over 4 years (6.25 per). Cap hit in 2026 11.25. AD gets 30 mil this year and the Rams aren't strapped because of it.

I'm not playing in the preseason, does that mean I'm an important player!!!!!!

for the guy that posted the matthew stafford video several posts earlier....

i've been saying this for awhile now... he's the best, and its not close....

those highlites are really kinda ridiculous... and yes he is human and makes the occasional bad throw...

but damn it... he is on so much, and so many times more than he is off...

and i'm talking about the not so easy throws, not the easy ones....

best QB in the league... i don't care what others think... we are so blessed...

go matt

go rams

He was off a lot last year, though. Wondering which Matthew Stafford we were gonna get every game he played.
