Maxx Crosby

I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week. But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading. I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider.

So what would be the cleanest for everyone is for a market to emerge organically. And that could happen, given that most teams are going to start spending to their cap and cash budgets, and filling roster spots a week from now.

Vegas, to be sure, isn’t going to give Crosby away. I also believe, though, that it’d be difficult to find the haul that the Raiders got for Khalil Mack eight years ago, or what Dallas got for Micah Parsons last year, or what the Dolphins received for Laremy Tunsil in 2019. All of those guys were traded for packages fronted by two first-round picks. All of those guys were also much younger, nearing the ends of their rookie deals.

Crosby—who has built a good working relationship with GM John Spytek, has had good interaction with new coach Klint Kubiak and is close with recently promoted defensive coordinator Rob Leonard—will turn 29 in August. He has seven NFL seasons under his belt. He ended the past two seasons bound for surgery. Now, no one does more to keep himself physically fit than Crosby. But these factors will all have to be considered.

There’s also logic to the idea that it’s time for Crosby, who very badly wants to win, and the team, to move on. The Raiders will almost certainly have a rookie quarterback playing in the fall, and it could take a year or two to get the roster to where it needs to be. Would Crosby still be in his prime then? Would the Raiders be able to get the same price a year or two from now that they might bring home this week?

These are the questions the Raiders will have to ask themselves, weighing keeping one of the NFL’s best players against having more capital to build a team that Fernando Mendoza has a great chance to grow with.

We should know soon enough which path the Raiders are taking, with teams like Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, New England, Philadelphia and the Rams keeping tabs on his availability.

Offer them 29 and a 2nd next year that can elevate to a #1 if the Rams reach the SB. Then we get Crosby and a #4 this year and maybe a #4 next year as well. Or maybe a 3rd next year is enough if we give them 29.

Then maybe we trade back from 13, to get an extra pick this yr or maybe we trade back 6 or 7 spots and get a 2nd next yr. Would help offset losing a high pick next year.

It would hurt a possible QB selection next year, but its an all in move now.

Hmmm, I'd have strongly considered trading a 4th round pick for Howard. A pretty solid swing OT that could back up both our tackles. He also played a fair amount of OG last years too, so a useful back up. 0 sacks allowed last year also. Not a world beater, but useful swing backup and that would have taken that off our list. Of course, he did play on a terrible offensive line last year, so he may now suck.
Would be real hard to justify $21m a year to be a swing tackle for us. Also don't know what the hell the Texans are doing? If he's worth $63m, 3 years, why would they trade him then? Their O-line sucks and then they trade him, don't understand this one.

Whoever trades for Crosby will end up regretting it. Fuck that. This is a nice Edge class, draft one of them instead.
Agreed. He’ll prob go to a bad or middling team and not move the W/L needle near enough to justify the trade cost.

I don't think they will as long as they aren't fleeced. Crosby is legit a beast but unfortunately he plays for the shitty ass Raiders. Pass rushers aren't always easy to find as the draft isn't a guarantee. At least it'll be interesting to see where he goes or doesn't. It's definitely lying season.

I could see the Rams making an offer, not sure I'd be totally for it however. He's better then Young, but how much better? If we are swinging a trade, give me a stud CB IMO. Stewart was looking quite effective last season which gives us 3 quality edge's. Do we have any quality CB's?

If we're trading for anybody give me McDuffie over Crosby. He's really good but older and coming off an injury and Edge is a spot we're much better at than CB. If we're going to trade for anybody up front how about a NT for the Bears Gervon Dexter. Entering the last year of is rookie deal he's become a quality starter the last 2 years for the Bears. They drafted a guy in the 2nd round last year who could end up replacing him. Not sure what it would take though.

I imagine he'll go to a team that's close to winning and wants a last piece, kinda like Parsons last year.

I'd be interested in the Rams trading for him AFTER the '26 draft....
