It’s weird how a couple months ago there was so much talk and draft hype about the Toledo safety and nothing on this guy. The last month, it’s been all Thienman and nothing on EMW (yet he’s still projected as a late 1st rounder).

The TCU kid was a major standout during Senior Bowl week too btw, which I mention given the Rams tendency to weigh that heavily. So there's some good safeties in this draft. Not like we need to get it high or even at all. I don't think our safeties are bad, just seems to me we could use a guy with ball skills.

The box role feels like it's covered with Lake and the rest.

NFL.com just released a 7 round mock. In the first round they have us trading back with the Lions (who take Fano). We drop to 17 and get 5th this year and a 3rd next and still get Lemon. Pretty ideal.

2.61 - Dunker, OL
3.93 - Jaishawn Barham, Edge (don't love that)
5.157 - Behren Morton, QB (don't love that either - thought he was a UDFA guy)
6.207 - Justin Jefferson, LB
7.232 - David Gusta, DT
7.251 - Riggie Virgil, WR
7.252 - Hazekiah Masses, CB

After Lemon, I like Dunker and would be thrilled to see the Rams draft Masses. In between all of those picks? Ugh.

Theineman I'd get somewhat. I would not really get McNeil Warren. We have those types on the team already. Just resigned one.

He seems to be more dynamic than what we have. He forces fumbles like Landman does with the punch, has better size than our safeties, and can be deployed like a LB on passing downs. He would replace McCoulogh's role immediately, and work his way into the starting line up eventually. That would be an upgrade.

Jeremiah still ranks him the 15th BPA in his latest top 150.

Man, they have a lot invested already at RB;
James Conner (4.8m) - Older and was injured last year, but a above average RB when healthy
Tyler Allgeier (4.3m) - 26, just signed to a 2 year deal, showed he is certainly an above average back
Trey Benson - drafted early in 3rd in '24, still cheap
Bam Knight - A capable 4th RB and cheap at 1.1m

I think their offensive line is ugly ugly, especially the right side. It would be the wrong move to take a back this year that high IMO.

If the Curds don't have an OL worth squat... they'll just be the '25 Raiders with Jeanty.
They've got to draft OL this year, but no one is worth it at #3. They're gonna trade down.
The guy I really don't wanna see on their team is Dunker -- I get serious Conrad Dobler vibes from imagining him in a Curds uni :\

Nonsense. You might be seeing less of Speights and less of McCollough. And if someone goes down, like Lake did last year, you are still in good shape

I am not saying EMW isn't a solid prospect, just don't think he's a huge upgrade for us. Theineman I like for us more and think is a superior prospect.

I don't think that's necessarily true. No way to know what a rookie can and can't do. If McVay and the Rams thinks he enhances the D, I'm all for it

I like him too, but then is Kinchens on the bench as your deep safety? I can use the same argument that you are sitting guys who have played well for you.

I'm certainly not endorsing taking any safety, think we have bigger fish to fry that will improve the team more, but, Theineman is the superior prospect in my eyes. Also, as a note, if Downs falls to us for some odd reason, think you try and figure it out. He's so damn talented he could probably start full time for Speights along with any safety slot or nickle.

If they took Love at 3, not sure how they could justify taking Simpson this year. Wouldn't they have to beef up that OL and punt their future QB to 27'?

Might be worth watching. Who knows, maybe Simpson lasts a lot longer than some think. Wouldn't be the first time a QB slid much deeper into the draft than previously thought.

I like getting an extra top 75 pick in a trade down, but I am really starting to think you can get a WR at 61 that can be very good. So why not grab a top player at a position that is not very deep in the first round?

Yes I think Theineman starts and plays that deep role for us. I could be wrong of course, just my projection on it because the Rams under McVay have not had a true FS type (who has those skills at a high level). Theineman's film is impressive. The dude swoops to the sideline, he's got real range and him over the top will scare the shit out of opposing QBs. I don't think any of our current safeties scare QBs in that way.

I dunno Merlin. I like Theineman, but he’s coming out of college. Kinchens is entering his 3rd year as a pro, having earned his starting spot by making plays.

To go with his 6 picks, Kinchens is a hitter. I’ve read enough of your posts to know you like that in a Safety. I do too. The rules have softened, but receivers still know they can be lit up.
