You'd think fans would pick up on their pattern of drafting for the future almost every year.
Les Snead tells us every year he doesn't ever want to go into the draft having to spend his first pick(s) for needs. He told us after getting 2 CB that he's got us in that spot. He can and will draft anybody at any position and he and Sean don't need to rush them on to the field and get immediate production from them. That desire for immediate impact is a fan perception not a McSnead one.
Rams top picks dating back:
25- Ferguson
24-Verse
23-Avila
22-Bruss
21-Tutu
20-Akers
19-Rapp

Most of the Snead's history shows that they do want players who are contributing in year one. There isn't a ton of room this year, so maybe that changes.

You ignored the most important part of what I said and what Snead says.

Have to draft for a need.

Ferguson play much before the mid point of the season?
Verse unseated a veteran that the DC liked and won the job
Avilla didn't start in preseason or in camp but won the job over a vet
Bruss started 3 games 4 5 and 6 due to injury
Tutu? LOL
Akers first 5 games as a rookie? 14 carries 3 carries and didn't play the next 3 games
Rapp didn't start until week 8 prior to that he played 50% of defensive snaps twice

You literally gave me a list of guys that either fought for and won starting over a veteran on the team or didn't start their rookie years until at least the half way point.

Is he going to be healthy? Hasn't been a lot in college.
And you want Simpson who hasn't been healthy in college either.

I wish I could find that post. I believe it was even worse than Tyson since I believe it dates back to his High School years as well IIRC.

I admit I can't remember exactly what his injuries were but I remember reading it and going Yikes!!

Again when has he had injury problems? Started every game this year and didn't finish one the last one.

Those top picks show us that Snead is best in the middle rounds. Snead has no idea who's going to be the best prospect early in this draft, but, He is good at finding good players later.

Only Verse and Avila were rushed into the starting lineup.

And you have to consider more than their first pick. Most of their picks every draft go towards addressing positions where they have pending free agents, which clearly indicates a focus on the future.

To be fair, Bruss was like pick 101. Atwell & Akers were picked in the 50's, and I believe Rapp was pick 61.

So not really talking about high draft picks and top 20 talents.

With Donald, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Braden Fiske and Verse, I would say he's pretty good at finding defensive lineman.
Or at least we have some good scouts that can find them.

Hmm... what would make it hard for Snead to be good in the the early rounds since 2016?

I didn't ignore anything. I don't feel the need to state the obvious. We have virtually no holes on our roster. Nobody we draft this year is going to play the majority of snaps barring injury. But the guys the rams select with their top pick usually becomes a player that contributes in year one. So you just said all of that to reiterate out exactly why I think they'll go for a player who can make the team better by contributing year one with their first pick lol. The rams are really good at never doing what we expect them to, So every perception on this board is a fan perception.

Right, but i believe you and I (it gets hard keeping up with all the replies) were talking about how I think they want players who can play snaps as a rookie with their top pick. It would be wise to stock up on offensive line. I'd just rather draft offensive line depth in the second round and on if we're going for a championship. It's a legit crapshoot for who they might pick. So who knows

Snead's first round picks have been Brockers, Tavon, Robinson, Donald, Gurley, Goff, and Verse. IDK, feels like he's only missed twice.

One thing we cannot fully grasp/know about most of the prospects with our limited accessibility is the football character side. NFL teams can did deeper and know more than us.

The last three Rams drafts have been better because they started emphasizing football character (guys that really love football). They also tend to go for team captains. Football passion is hard to measure from the outside but absolutely essential. That is a reason a guy like Greg Robinson failed. I think earlier picks like Bruss, Akers, and Jefferson actually were not great picks for their draft slots for the same reason, not enough football passion.

If they stay true to this more recent core philosophy and take guys that truly love football this draft will likely be a success. Elite football character needs to be the separator and I honesty can't tell who has it and who does not when looking at the top prospects so I'll trust our Rams to make that call. For me they have earned that trust from the recent track record.

This post I am referring to which I can't seem to find (and no I am not dreaming it) showed a horrible injury history. I am not lying - it was really bad. I just can't find it now in 100 pages each of various threads.

Someone please find it and show everyone that Simpson is not a good QB candidate simply because of his injury history.

All I can find is that he had 4 different types of injuries in 2025. That might have been it. But 4 in one year - that is still a Yikes to me.

Edit - maybe it was as 1 year thing but it was the only year that he played. That doesn't give me any confidence that he can endure a 17 game NFL year. Even Warner was leery of that.

You're literally arguing/debating with me while saying you agree with me.

Google search shows the broken collarbone in the CFP that we know about. It shows the gastritis that we know about causing him to lose weight. It shows speculation that he got hurt in the South Carolina game but not reports or proof about such an injury and they speculate that he got hurt there because that was when the team and he went down hill. There is no massive injury history according to everything google can find.

To me you're inflating it in your mind because you do not like the guy. I've searched for injuries on him every time I read this from you and have yet to see anything worrying.
