#1 scoring defense in the league now :sunglasses:

Maybe we can move away from the narrative that the secondary is weak.

They are obviously greatly helped by an awesome pass rush, but I don't think even with this pass rush we'd lead the league in this category if it was a weak secondary.
Speed… ability to make plays on the ball… time in system… excellent coaching and scheme… all add up. You don’t want anyone on an island

#1 scoring defense in the league now :sunglasses:
Crazy. Just crazy.

Do you know a defense that's ALWAYS at peak??? Name them! I've been watching foot ball some 61 years, and I've seen great defenses but never perfect ones. They all had ebbs and flows during a game.

This Ram defense is good, that's what they need to be. Last week, when the offense wasn't clicking because of the Seattle defense, the Ram defense delivered. That's how it is in TEAM sports.

There's a Tampa team they face tomorrow. Let's see how they do...
Well, they did very well!!

Thanks for all the responses to my post. Yes, stats bring us back to "reality" sometimes but I was trying to communicate what my perception was: that they let their foot off the gas once they get a good lead. Stats can still be stout, but the effort and intensity can still wane at times. It's that sustained effort that I was trying to convey but, as on member pointed out, that might be unrealistic.

Bottom line: They did GREAT last night and my expectations for this team remain VERY high! It's been a great year so far (yes, I remember the Spags/Fisher years!!)

GO RAMS!!!

Well and good but youre assuming he's content to just be a DC and not want a team of his own.
This. As much as Shula has done for this team, we know McVay would love to see him become a head coach. He'd be ecstatic. And to follow in his grand dad's legacy, like Shawn also has done, you know Shula wants that to happen.

With 6 games to go, the Rams D is currently ranked 1st in points allowed and 9th in yardage allowed.

Last time the Rams D ended up 1st in points allowed was (you knew it) 2020 and they were also 1st in yards allowed. A perfect 1 and 1. Defense wins championships? Not always true. But a look back at the 1985 Bears, who also boasted a perfect defensive 1 and 1... their offense was 2nd in points scored and 7th in yards gained.

#1 in fewest rushing TDs allowed (4)
#3 in Interceptions (12)
#2 in +/- ratio (+12)
#9 in yards allowed (311.2/g)
#9 in sacks (31)
#8 in ypc allowed (3.9)
#1 in shortest long run allowed (29 yds)

Last year, through 11 games, the Rams had allowed 29 TDs and 23 FGs (24.7 PPG)
This year, through 11 games, the Rams have allowed 17 TDs and 19 FGs (16.0 PPG)

Last year we scored 37 Offensive TDs......all season
This year we have 38....through 11 games.

Maybe he wants to run it back while it’s good. This is me hoping.
Much like Ben Johnson... Shula's not going to jump at a bad opportunity, imo. He's still very young and in a fantastic position. The worry would be that he misses his shot, but I think he's confident enough not to walk into a shitty situation out of desperation.

That's my hope.

If Shula can hold out through the Stafford era, and just maybe McVay will be ready to hang it up and become the fastest talking coverman for FOX or NBC Sports.

You keep hoping McVay is gonna hang it up soon. Seems strange.

After McVay came back the last time, he said he made life adjustments, got his 2nd wind, and plans to coach for a long time. He would do great as a color commentator but he's a coach at heart.

From listening to him, it sounds like you won't get your wish of him leaving anytime soon.

Troy Reeder was The Rams starting mlb’r. lol - funny he is still a Ram & made a nice special teams tackle.
Just saying for all The haters out there.
Plus we can talk about the Rams CB’s as well. The depth is special, but all the doubters ??? IMO wait till the playoffs. Then we’ll see what you’all who doubted the group were missing.
