Hard pass from me. I might be Whittington's biggest fan on these boards. I have been on record saying I think he will have a Puka esque breakout year, coming out of nowhere. He will be an awesome WR3 and I think can even be a good WR2 if he can stay healthy if injuries ever keep Puka or Davante out. Hard pass on whatever they would offer. Every player has his price. And certainly no non starting WR is untouchable. But whatever the Vikings would give up probably would not be worth it, IMO, and understandably so as 88 is not a proven NFL talent so why would they give up tons for him. The fact O'Connell and the Vikings are interested says it all. They know good WRs.

Alotnof Teams are looking for WR still, wonder why no one has shown interest in Amari Cooper?
I’m puzzled as well. Never heard anything negative about him and he had some real good years in Cleveland just a couple years ago. He did have a significant injury that may still be lingering. By comparison, I loved Robert Woods but Cooper is a better WR option for teams yet he’s still a free agent.

MLB has been dead to me for a few years, and the NFL is rapidly approaching my event horizon.
But that said, this is sad... some of these players (and their families) have been grinding baseball since t-ball & travel ball.
Yeah, it is a meat grinder for sure.
I have a friend who played pro ball, in all sorts of locals and levels, and it is rough.
He managed to make $18M or so over his long career, but, it took a real toll.
But, hey, so does construction, truck driving and all sorts of other trades. So it goes.
A kid I worked with with gaining weight/throwing program who is now in the Braves organization, told me about being a non drafted minor leaguer.
Often dinner was what was left over from the night before at the little crappy stadium they were playing at. Old hot dogs and popcorn for lunch and dinner.....all while you are being told to gain weight and workout twice a day.
Not paid a livable wage and expected to play off season ball that you are not paid for.....so, spend the offseason in a place you don't know, playing 5 days a week and not getting paid.
It really is sort of criminal to me.

Because we haven't heard about team contacting Cooper doesn't mean they haven't been in touch with his agent.
It may be nothing more than his salary demand.
Ok....we know who he is at this point, we aren't ready to sign yet, but, we will be in touch.
Has the feel of a week 1/late Sept signing.
Just as an example, lets say Pittsburgh gets off to a good start and is competing the the AFC North.....I could see a team like that signing him.

Yeah, my son used to work out with a local guy here in the Philly area named Lou Trivino, a pitcher who finally made it with A's about 6 yrs ago, had a few good years there.

Right before he was due to get a 2nd contract he was traded to the Yankees then he injured his arm. He bounced around some after that, and is now with his hometown Phillies in the minors. He did make money, but more in the 1-2M per year, but he got hurt before could have really cashed in.
This is amazingly common and sad.

Yes and the player's association is guilty of allowing this to occur and not doing shit to change it. They should get with the owners and agree on a limit of percentage of the cap that can be spent on QBs. There has to be a range where these guys get good pay when they produce while also allowing some of that cap to go to their teammates.

Yeah I keep seeing these media takes on this and it amazes me that so many of them seem to think the team should bet on a QB who took himself out of a game because he was fucking tired. Blows my mind. McVay would axe that motherfucker post-game. He'd be off the team. Unbelievable.

Jones is shitty but he probably got the gig due to basic professionalism and studying the scheme. This is what QB hell looks like.
So true.
Ive been agreeing with you a lot lately and I find it.......interesting......
Haha.
Anyway, a QB cap is 100% needed. I don't see where there is an option really.
The NFLPA will fight this tooth and nail, which is really stupid. But, thats nothing new. Would you rather develop a system where you have 20 or so QBs making $50-70M a year, or have a QB cap of, say, $30M and have the extra money spread out to a lot of players on those teams. Seems obvious to me, but, they have their own motivations I suppose.
But, hell, there are pass rushers making insane money now too.
Its really a crazy league in that sense.

As for the QB removing himself from a game because he was tired....was he passing out or vomiting from heat stroke/exhaustion.....cause outside of that.....yeah, that won't fly.
But, one thing that cant always be learned is a passion for the game.

Shough's gonna be the dude and I think he's going to be a good QB at this level. But if the coach is concerned about rook fuckups then start Rattler and tell the kid his time is almost here and to keep working. This really isn't hard other than you're choosing Rattler as your starter. :laugh3:
Thats like trying to choose between two jackets.....both extra medium.

Heard Cooper just didn't have much left in the tank in Buff last year and he doesn't have much position versatility outside X
