If Mayer was any good then I’d say yes. But his production is lousy. Acquiring him does absolutely nothing for the offense.
He had a first round grade and fell to the Raiders at 35.

The raiders' dysfunction (and Bowers falling to them the next season) is the likely reason for middling production. Rams are famous for reclamation projects. Get him on the cheap with high upside. If he's only JAG at TE, he's still better on a rookie deal than trying to draft a TE with a 6th round pick.

I’d bring him in if he was released by the Raiders.

If we gotta trade Kupp that seems like a decent option.
Big cap hit though.

Rams would still have a minimum of $17M of Dead-$ on Kupp; and Alexander's $16M salary would also be on the Rams' cap.

The cap hit savings is even less when you factor in having to replace him with another WR that can produce some - Even a later round rookie or cheapest FA.

It makes me think they have a certain plan in place. What that is…idk. Maybe a change in scheme and he’s redundant or a bad fit. Maybe they have the type of guy they want identified via FA/draft. I guess could also be them thinking he’s complete toast and hurting the offense when in the field (I do not believe that to be the case). Whatever it is, they clearly have their mind made up and focused on another path without Kupp.

Smart move financially. Risky for QB security if JJ McCarthy is not ready to start the season IMO.
I legit hope they sign Daniel Jones again to back up McCarthy, McCarthy's not ready and we get to see if KO can squeeze any juice out of that lemon.

Good. I think McMahon could be an excellent backup interior lineman, and he's still young (was drafted last year in the sixth round ahead of Whittington and Limmer), so I like this signing. No reason not to sign him.
If he was drafted last year why do the Rams have to tender him? Isn't he already on a four-year deal? And what exactly does tender mean?

Exclusive rights free agent. We plucked him off of the Eagles practice squad during the season.

So the Eagles are releasing both Slay and Bradberry now
That’s pretty intriguing. I wouldn’t mind going after one of them to pair with Williams and eliminates a need out the draft.

Preferably Slay.

It’s gonna start getting juicy soon. I doubt the Rams will be big money players but we’ve been surprised before.

Less then a week until FA. Pretty exciting. Hopefully we don't trip over our own feet again.
