This just seems stupid... 4 void years for 1 year and it's not even that big of a total amount. Really think NFL should limit void years to 2 max. Frankly would be fine with just getting rid of them all together but a year or two is fine. This contract is dumb though.

Thats an absurdly low contract anyways. He was a hot commodity last offseason, guess he didn't perform well with his prove it deal to stay with Pats. I recall some of us wanting him.

@8to12 Wait, is the thinking here that a NT just like gets in the way of running back running towards him?
No..... what it means is trying to keep interior lineman from getting to the second level to take out ILB's

Have him in on first downs and maybe second downs - and put in a hybrid linebacker/safety on 3rd down and longer than 3
My only concern is that teams pass a lot on first and second down. I do agree that teams tend to run the ball more on first and second and not as much on 3rd and long, but I prefer to have a ILB with a balanced skillset

Hard to find one of those.

My belief is that if you stuff the run and make teams pass, our DL will get to the QB faster and you can usually shore up a weak link in the pass defense with a stout pass rush. As long as he doesn't cover guys pass 10 yards, he should be okay.

I mean Rozeboom wasn't the best pass defender either and he wasn't all that great against the run as well.

I agree. To get one of them, the Rams will have to take one early, like late round one or round two.

SS Emmenwori or LBs Campbell or Knight fit that description.

No way Rams use R1.26 on ILB Consensus BigBoard has Knight right at R3.90. Just a point of reference.

Dude is also 25. So he’s probably peaked physically.
Possibly which is fine. Been a lot of older players the last few years and have turned out fine. I kind of like them taking more mature guys personally and I've seen talks from multiple GM who say the same kind of things.

Yeah Fiske was 24 when drafted and he worked out nicely.

It’s what Covid let out of the box. Now going to be a trend, especially with NIL money screwing up the landscape.

So was Kobie Turner; and Byron Young was a 25 year old rookie.
Even Verse turned 24 in the middle of his rookie season; as did Steve Avila.
How much of this is Rams taking chances on older guys and how much of this is Covid/NIL related I wonder.

I think the Rams have already figured it out ahead of the curve. Cats out of the bag now.
