Parsons, ah we can dream. I wonder though, does he really fit the Rams character qualifications? He's A bit outspoken on social media. If I was any player on the Cowboys, I'd want out.

He had supposed “character concerns” in his draft year, but the brother of one of my two besties knew him well at Penn State and said there’s none.

I would not mind us taking a shot at him. At the very worst, he’s Jalen Ramsey, only as an edge rusher.

To the resident capologists: Who are the Rams players that are bloating the cap?

Stafford…check.
Davante…check.
Alaric maybe?
I assume Kupp?

No one on defense am I right?

So…why can’t the Rams absorb another fat contract? Enlighten me.

They can absorb a big contract now
If signed to a big contract today, his large cap hits wouldnt necessarily hit this or next year
Which will impact the ability to re-sign the current stars who are on their rookie deals
More importantly is how they would be able to acquire him and what that cost would be

We definitely could, it's just moving money around more specifically into 2026 and 2027. We have the 3rd most and 2nd most of cap the next two years.

Remember we went out and got Von Miller. The defense functioned differently after he got acclimated especially in the playoffs.

That's how I picture adding Parsons would effect this team.

The two key points.

I would rather we keep our young stars and our draft picks. Parsons is obviously a top player, but he isn't worth ruining our future plans for.

Jonah J 8.5

Next 6:

Alaric 7.0
Kyren 5.4
Poona 5.0
Curl 4.7
Shelton 4.5

As @dieterbrock says they can it will just cost players down the road whether that's current players on a contract that might not be retained like Jackson in 2027, too much guaranteed in 26. We could be so lucky as it makes Atwell and Shelton gone in 2026 along with cutting D Williams and Parkinson that's $27 million in cap space when you include the $10 million we paid Atwell this year. That savings with the already $77 million in cap space we have in '27 we could absolutely afford to pay him. His 2026 cap hit would just be low which of course makes future years bigger.

Younger guys and guys coming up on contracts could be affected though. Guys like Kyren Williams if we resign him it would affect things. Kobie Turner, Steve Avilla, Havenstein, Higbee, Witherspoon all could be affected. A couple big names that are free agents in 2027 are Davante Adams and Kevin Dotson.

Not saying all those guys will be gone just saying those are the next contracts we'll have to give out and it's not realistic to think we'd keep all of them let alone even half of them if we add a $40 million dollar a year defender this year and add in Verse in 4 years potentially wanting that along with all the other recent good draft picks.

It's doable but with all trades/free agents there's a cost.

And the ideas for a trade while some being jokes are all unrealistic. Ask yourself what you would have wanted for the Rams to trade AD and your in the neighborhood of what the Cowboys will want for Parsons.

Don't know that he'd ruin anything but it would definitely be a wrench in the future. Snead would just need a couple more drafts like this hell not a couple every year he'd need them.

I'm sure they can finagle a way to get it done.

Quite frankly, I'm not a fan of giving up the assets that will probably be necessary to acquire him.
I'd feel better about it if they already had a franchise QB on a rookie deal.

But what do I know? I wouldn't have made the Stafford or Von Miller trades.

Appreciate the replies. Looks like it’s more of a philosophical decision rather than a math decision.

Man, I thought AD was off the books this season. That hurts.

Absolutely!

Would Dallas do it ... Absolutely Not!!!
True, but i would be hesitant to give up more. In a short time we would go from spending little on D to spending a ton on D with Verse, Turner, Fiske, and Parsons being paid big money over the next 3 yrs.

I think Young & Verse are fine at edge. Now if there was a big time CB available, that would be a different story. Like a 26 yr old Ramsey like what happened in 19'.

Agree.

I don't see Dallas moving Parsons unless and until there's a whole lot more negativity in the coming weeks and months. Even should that happen, I just don't see the Rams as a good option.

When I posted this thought yesterday, someone replied that my Reality was putting a damper on the dreams and fantasies of some ROD posters. I felt bad. I wouldn't like it if some ROD posters put a damper my own dreams and fantasies about the Boobie and Booty threads just because I am old and unattractive.

So No More Reality from me! Let's get Micah Parsons!!!

I mean... it's all a negotiation, same with scary Terry.

I put Parsons being moved at 5%. Teams will still call to do due diligence of course.

The cost would prob be north of what the Raiders got from Mack which is pretty prohibitive too.

I didn't think the Raiders got THAT MUCH for Mack ... two #1s and a #3 ... but the Bears got back Mack and a #2.

There were some late-round picks but the key pieces were ... #19 and #24 overall (in two different Drafts) plus a third round pick for Mack and a second round pick (#43 overall).

The Raiders did not draft well with two of those picks (Damion Arnette and Bryan Edwards). Josh Jacobs gave them five good seasons but none of those three players are still with the Raiders.

The only player from that trade still with his team is Cole Kmet ... the 2nd rounder Chicago got back.

Just curious why you feel that being outspoken on social media would be counted against him in not fitting our culture? We've had our share of divas - OBJ, Peters - that McVay said he loved because they were passionate about football.

It doesn't appear that being loud is counted negatively against a player.

Then how are they getting Arch Manning?
I know you're being sarcastic in regard to Arch specifically, but I feel that wanting to retain draft resources for a future franchise QB is at the top of the list of why we wouldn't trade for Parsons if he was available.
