I rather have a qb but i wouldn't pass on a better LT prospect for one unless I was truly believed them to be a franchise guy. My main concern is mcvay tbh. He hasn't shown the patience to develop a young qb.
We all would rather have the QB with Stafford ending his career in a year or 2, but unless we hit the lottery of bad luck - we lose every game and Chi, AZ, NYG, GB and especially Carolina win to get to 4 wins we are not getting the only 2 QBs worth taking.

Every year there are QBs similar to Penix and Nix and others that poster fall in love with, but historically they all end up as back ups at best. Good to great QBs (top 15 or better in the NFL) usually come from the top couple picks in the draft. Very few are chosen as late as Mahomes was at #10. Unless we are picking at #1 or #2 I say we are looking at 2nd tier QB - the Andy Dalton's of the world.

For me there is only 1 franchise changing QB and that is Caleb Williams. We get him Rams football for the next 10-15 years will be very exciting excluding any major injuries derailing the career.

I think with 70% certainty, btw, we can put Maye, Williams (I like Maye over Williams right now) and Harrison JR as the top three picks.

JJ McCarthy and Sanders will probably be there for when we pick. I do see a world where we can solve some problems with FA and actually grab one of those guys and have them sit. It's a world I could live in.

Though if a top offensive weapon like Bowers (I've come around) is there, I think you go with him cause any rookie QB you eventually draft needs a top pass catcher to develop properly. (So you draft them the following year).

2 QB's I like (having no shot at Williams/Maye) would be Jaxson Dart and Will Rogers. Not sure if either will hit the portal or stay where they are, but I like both of their games. Rogers may have been a 2nd day pick but with after Leach passed away, his senior season was a disaster. Probably a 5th-7th rounder now.

Yes. We've had Quarterbacks who dont run for too damn long.

Everett
Warner
Bulger
Bradford
Goff
Stafford

Can we please for once have a running Quarterback? If only because I've NEVER seen one in my 50 years rooting for this team???
Are you so quick to forget the legend of Bryce Perkins?

Also, we don’t know how Stetson Bennett comes out of rehab. He may be a Maxx Crosby like success story.

I honestly would love for that to happen. With all due respect to the ‘21 SB team and the GSOT Rams, we haven’t had a dominant OL since the Robinson/Dickerson days and frankly I miss it.
The shitty part is, we won't know until its too late for us to make a decision during the draft. If its true that he doesn't come back at all during this season, we won't know anything about him other then the reps he got during pre season and a lot of those reps were not great.

I'd be floored if Sanders comes out. He gets more $ in NIL then he would in the NFL (I believe I heard) and he gets to play for his dad. Perhaps he improves and is in the talk for top pick the following year too. Bowers I'm conflicted on. Yes he's an excellent TE prospect, but, historically (this year perhaps being a major exception) TE's take a few years to develop and contribute. I think Bowers will be good year one, but, is a good TE more valuable then a franchise LT, edge, or QB? IMO, no.

I can't sit down right now and do the math but I think it's on an order of magnitude that's insane how much more money someone will make in the 1st round than what they make in NIL (not to mention how much money the player will earn over the course of their career if they just come out to NFL than stay for NIL). It doesn't really make sense unless you're a college star but a day three prospect.

Okay, pick 32 in 1st round makes 12.75 mil on a rookie contract. Not sure what it is at signing. I just don't think the maths math.

Not too familiar with those two but I presume the Rams are going to end up jumping on a QB who is unappreciated for whatever reason and ends up sliding. Probably the first guy who slides vs their board will end up being their choice, assuming they can move up for him or he actually gets to them (which can be tough when everyone knows they will be targeting QB).

If I had to guess I'd say they go BPA in round 1, whatever it is. Almost surely won't be QB unless there's a Rodgers type slide, because they're unlikely to be drafting in that top group, and in the teens there should be an impact player at some other position.

If that happens (anything other than QB) then we might see them jump up from their round 2 spot to get the guy they want, assuming one is there. I'm fine with giving up next year's 1 if it means positioning to lock up a cornerstone job. Really that's the biggest difference in the Rams right now vs the top teams.

I'm eager to get into this QB class. The minute this team is clearly out of the running I think I'll start that, and I would be fine with them jumping on a guy with their top pick. Not gonna expect a specific position with our top pick, because the board is the board and I'd rather they stick to their rankings than get desperate. But Snead's strength is his feel for movement in the draft, I think he's real good at that, he just needs to be very careful as it pertains to QB as I think they're more unpredictable as a position group than OT or Edge, where teams are better at nailing down their upside/floor.

If Stafford gets hurt even worse when he comes back - I can see us drafting in the top 5

Agreed. But one key with Stafford is he's so tough that you have to sit him through injuries that would remove a lot of other QBs. Also the Rams know their sched is easing up now, they are well aware of this and McVay alluded to this I think in his recent coach show when he was talking about a lot of games to go. He specifically mentioned getting this win, then out of the bye and working ahead and didn't mention the easier sched but he is exactly right.

We definitely need Stafford to do that, but he's going to need to be missing a fucking limb or something real serious to miss those games. So even though things look pretty grim right now I think we're gonna end up in .500 range pretty soon and it's unlikely this team picks too high.

This game in Green Bay is a big one, given how they've dug themselves a bit of a hole plus the bye behind it. It's damn near as must-win as you can get in the regular season. If they drop this one it's gonna be harder to get on top of that .500 status and start building, will happen a game or three later and they're more likely to run out of time for even a wildcard.

I meant for a FRANCHISE Quarterback only, not fill-ins.

Yeah, I have to admit I want the Rams to go early with QB and I believe there are some excellent options. For example, even if they ended up with Bo Nix, I feel he would be a major upgrade to what they have currently and could potentially be an excellent QB.

My first choice is J.J. McCarthy, but I don't want guys in later rounds where their best upside is to be a backup QB in the NFL.

I believe I saw that Sanders is making the most NIL of all college athletes, assuming he wouldn't be a top 10 pick this year if he were to come out, I'm thinking the money is at least similar. Similar enough to stay and try and be a top 3 pick. I'm just guessing here though.

It seems to me there have been more starting QBs who were drafted in the later rounds than good quality LTs. So draft an LT in the first round and take a QB in the second; unless the Rams can somehow manage to trade back up into the first round, thus giving them two picks in the first round.

I really want Quinn Ewers, if we're taking a quarterback (I think he falls to the early second because of his frame). We're not going to be bad enough to get Maye, Williams is a little bitch, and I'm not a fan of Sanders.

Ewers gets hurt too often for my taste. Try to look at McCarthy (Michigan) & Nix (Oregon) also keep in mind that Nix began his career at Auburn as Les Snead is an Auburn Alum.

That's why I think Ewers will fall to the second round. I love his arm. Big arm, accurate, smart processor, distributes well, vision, and he's mobile. And if he enters, he'll be one of the youngest in the class. And he was the top quarterback in his high school recruiting class.

McCarthy is a late first round pick, which is why I'm not considering him or Sanders. I don't think we're good enough to get them.

I would be pissed if Nix is our choice in the second round. He sucked at Auburn and he got injured a lot there as well (if you're critiquing Ewers for getting hurt, so does Nix).

Narrator: The money is not, at least, similar.

Great points as always and yes Nix was a mess at Auburn, but he has been a stud at Oregon and durable too. I like Ewers because he was at Ohio State and transferred to Texas because of Stroud and would not be upset if the Rams did draft him, but my guy is McCarthy and you know it kills me to communicate that being a Buckeye.

I still think we don't pick a quarterback until round 2, and I think McCarthy goes in the spot where playoff teams go to, along with Sanders and Penix.

I still want Ewers over any of them. He's honestly got Brees-like qualities, to my eyes. That Alabama game was a surgical decimation, and his stats should've been even better because of four drops.

LT, all day every day. Is everyone still more or less happy with Shelton at C? if not, grab one in the 2nd round.
& is Avila still working out ok?
You'd be surprised how great a QB looks with a good LT & a strong running game. Neither of which we have right now (no offense to our current LT).
