I voted “other”

It obviously depends on how the board falls, but our biggest current needs are Edge, LB and CB.

I'm having a hard time counting on one hand the amount of great QBs that came from after the 1st round in the last 15 years.
Most of them came out of the first round. The good ones who weren't first round picks during that post-Brady/Brees time (off the top of my head) are:
Russell Wilson
Kirk Cousins
Dak Prescott
Jalen Hurts
Brock Purdy (we'll see if he keeps it up)

I'd say Derek Carr, Andy Dalton, and Jimmy Garoppolo were alright QBs. Geno Smith had a nice run last year. Sam Howell remains to be seen. So yes, your best bet is the first round, but it isn't impossible to find one outside the first round.

I think the poster used the word "great" and I'd be hard pressed to call anyone on that list but Wilson great. Hurts could be with time.

But, that list about fits my hand.

How many great QBs were drafted in the past 15 years? That's also a short list.

You can get a very good LT in the second round. Hell Avila is a second round OL and is plug n play. If they end up with a losing record and end up in the top 10 it will just make the getting "their" guy cheaper and easier. I really think they are looking hard at Penix and Nix. I'd love to have Penix but I wouldn't be sad to get Nix. Nix is gritty and savy and a full field reader. He is less developed compared to Penix but there is no doubt the underlying talent is there. He's better at moving in some ways than Penix which makes him better behind a lessor OL. But I think he's the kind of QB that would reap huge benefits having a year to develop first before starting much like Mahomes. He still shows inconsistencies in his mechanics that can be cleaned up in that year.

Both Penix and Nix would benefit with a redshirt year but IMO Penix is the most ready to play as a rookie compared to Nix. I hope the Rams get one of them and the Niners, or Seahawks don't get the other. With Purdy tanking the Niners look to be in the QB market. I hope they go for Cousins. Kirk is good but not elite. I view him as a high tier two QB. They very well might be looking at him because he fits their scheme.

IMO Jackson is the RT I originally envisioned. That is not to say he can't grow into the position given time but IMO he won't hit his stride until 2025 at the earliest. If Noteboom can totally heal I think he could contend for that RT position because I simply don't see them paying Rob that kind of money next year. If he was a standout LT yeah or even a top 5 RT, but he isn't. A post June 1 release has a dedcap of $8.2M and a positive cap return of $6.5M which would pay for his replacement be it Jackson or Noteboom.

I rather have a qb but i wouldn't pass on a better LT prospect for one unless I was truly believed them to be a franchise guy. My main concern is mcvay tbh. He hasn't shown the patience to develop a young qb.

We still have season left and more stories will unfold, 3 weeks ago it would have been edge
Way too many FA Edge players available in FA or possibly via trade (not involving a 1st rd pick). and the Rams need a proven commodity at Edge (vs a hot or miss rookie).

I voted LT, would have voted both though if it's an option.

We would need to trade up, but I'm here for it. Get back into the first to snag a QB.

Because of how strong this last draft was, we don't need a ton of picks. We need a few premium players. And with cap space, we should be able to address some in FA:

CB
EDGE
LT
G

QB

G could end up being Dotson re-signed. But either all four or three of four need to be FAs. QB needs to be taken in the first two picks, for the future (I think we will get one more year out of Stafford).

J.J. McCarthy is my choice and that kills me because I detest Michigan. He can make all the throws a great leader, can extend plays with his legs plus, he is very smart. I have no issue drafting McCarthy in the first round and then getting the Left Tackle in round two.

I like McCarthy better then Drake May & others and IMO against Caleb Williams, it's close & McCarthy is taller and comes with less drama. FWIW I love Caleb Williams too, but McCarthy is my second choice over the others.

QUARTERBACK and the Rams should trade up if there is a guy they like. Good class and they will have the draft capitol to go get a good one. This is the moment they need to pull the trigger on a good young QB.

Michigan homer.

I like his game as well. Good all around. I haven't really looked hard at these guys, specifically for myself nowadays mental toughness is very high on the list with QB, but he has a lot going for him.

Are you guys fucking kidding me? Do some research. Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Steve young, Brett farve, Russell Wilson, drew brees.

Mahomes and Young were both 1st round picks, what's the point?
