Checking the numbers in MLB....
Yankees have:
2 in top 7 in avg. (Soto, Judge)
3 in top 7 in runs scored (Soto, Judge, Volpe)
3 in top 8 in HR (Judge, Soto, Stanton)
2 in top 5 in RBI (Judge, Soto)
2 of top 6 in Slg% (Judge, Soto)
Top 2 in OB% (Judge, Soto)
Top 2 in OPS (Judge, Soto)
There are numerous comparisons and they're all warranted. Soto enjoys the protection of Judge batting behind him, while Judge only has Verdugo (who's having a good year in his own right but doesn't provide the same protection). While I believe Soto would still be productive without Judge, Judge's production is phenominal, all things considered.

They're going through a bad stretch right now. Every pitcher is getting hammered, except Stroman. The only guys hitting are Judge and Soto. It's a slump. It happens. NY is 2-8 over the last 10. Baltimore is 4-6. Gotta love baseball.

Going to see the Yankees in Philly on Wednesday. Here's hoping it's for the sweep!!! 40 runs scored in the last 4 games. Verdugo, Volpe and Torres are hitting again. Wells is a surprise. Stanton is back. Jazz Chisholm looks good. The young first baseman can play (hoping he doesn't leave via a trade). Now straighten out the bullpen with a trade or two and let's see what happens!

It is. I've been there a few times but never to see the Yankees.
My daughters and granddaughter are serious Judge fans. I'm hoping he doesn't have the day off!!!

I worry just a bit.....Nestor is pitching. Perhaps those recent trade rumors have inspired him to pitch better? Debating on going to the hardware store to buy one of those mini hand-held wisk brooms for the game. I want to see Judge get his 40th HR and 100th RBI prior to August.....and of course, see Jazz perform more magic to make Phillie fans 'kind of blue'.

Well it was a sweep. Nestor pitched better. DJ's bat woke up. Let's hope it was a harbinger for things to come. Ironically, Severino and others claim the Yankees are Judge & Soto and not much more. Except Jazz drives in 5 runs Tuesday and DJ 6 runs today. I told my youngest daughter, "well yoo can say you were at.the game the A.L. MVP took the golden somrero! You don't see that very often"

45 years ago today, Thurman Munsen died when his plane crashed while he was practicing takeoffs and landings. The two instructors with him escaped but he was trapped in the burning wreckage. It was devastating news that shocked sports fans in general and Yankee fans in particular.

3 series in a row for the Yankees. Boston, Philly, Toronto. Back to their winning ways?
Some reasons for Yankee fans to be happy/optimistic (besides winning 7 of their last 8).
5. Leiter was a good pickup. Truly does have that swing and miss ability and I saw why today. He's comes in with 2 outs in the ninth and 1 on to face a lefty (Loperfido). K's him. Then in the 10th, he gets Vlad to fly out to center, struck out Springer on a split and struck out Kirk on a split. But the last at bat really showed me why he's effective. He threw 2 fastballs outside, low on the black for strikes, then a split in the same exact place.
4. Jazz was a good pickup. A great series in Philly and though he's yet to bring fans to their seats in NY, he plays a really good third base despite only playing there since he joined the Yankees. Some real good defensive plays including a tag out on a steal when he was playing a good distance away from the bag.
3. Cole might be finally finding his stuff. He missed his last start with body fatigue which was concerning. He started off this game badly, allowing 6 hits vs 6 outs through the first 2 innings, then got 11 of the next 12 with the only baserunner a HBP. His stuff looked sharper after the 2nd inning.
2. LeMahieu might be back? After a lousy season to forget through July, he had a career game in Philly (I was there) driving in all 6 runs, then sat two straight and was 1 for 4 today. He lined out to left, flied out to center, lined out hard to third and lined one up the middle vs a 5 man infield for the win (2nd rbi).....fwiw, it would have been a hit with a 4 man infield too. He's driven in 8 in their last 4 games (2 gp for him). Color me cautiously optimistic here.

Aaron Judge was 3 for 3 today, with his 42nd homer and was walked intentionally again. His season stats are remarkable.
117 games, 136 for 415 (.328), 92 R, 26 doubles, 1 triple, 42 HRs, 106 rbi, 98 walks (13 IBB), .456 OB%, .699 SLG%, 1.155 OPS.
But consider the April he had and his stats from April 27th to date are near record breaking.
March 28th to April 26th:
27 games; 18 for 101 (.178), 9 R, with 6 doubles, 4 homers, 13 rbi, 20 walks, OB% .317, SLG% .356 for a .674 OPS
A HR every 25.25 at bats; 2 IBB
From April 27th through today:
90 games; 118 for 314 (.376), 83 R, with 20 doubles, 1 triple, 38 homers, 93 rbi, 78 walks, an OB% of .498 and a slug% of .809 for a 1.307 OPS

It's only 102 games but I think I heard something the other day that no player in history has had a 100 game run like that. Pretty hard to do.
It extrapolates over 162 games to
151 R, 214 H, 38 2B, 75 HR, 173 RBI, 137 BB...... .377/.506/.844/ 1.349 OPS
Both are massive numbers.
