Yet, Gurley turtles up in the NFCCG and Anderswn was ineffective. However Goff brought the Rams back from behind to tie or take the lead, 3 times in that game.

The fact that the defense couldn't hold the Saints on that last drive before the bad interference call, is not Goff's fault.

It's not like he benefited on one of his throws due to a bad call against the Saints for interference or for say a dropped INT. Goff did his job that day without a run game and no Kupp, in an extremely hostile environment.
Yup, he delivered against the Saints. Didn't play well against the Cowboys or Patriots, but he did his job against the Saints and was a big reason why we won that game. I'm glad he turned things around in Detroit and hope it continues. Because he sucked so much as a rookie, he never got the credit he deserved here. And while the breakup was necessary and we ended up better for it (at least in the short term), the way the media treated him really sucked.

yeah, instead of "poor matt, he has no time to throw and is getting mauled out there" the narrative would have been "goff is shit, put wolford out there, now there's a starting nfl qb".

I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing because you’re dead on. I don’t understand why Goff is viewed so harshly. He was a legit #1 pick. He’s got an elite arm at the very least. So the conditions have to be right, or else you need a mahomes or an allen to get outta trouble. Get a better OL.

He has produced enough to say he’s keeping up his end.

p.s. doesn’t anybody remember the clutch throws in the 4th qtr/OT vs the saints to get us to the SB?

To me the SB was more of a coaching thing and he couldn't overcome it as the Pats scheme then got in his head as a result of McVay not responding.

The Pats basically run blitzed on just about every play, crashing Hightower and the 2 DL lined up over Sullivan & Blythe. That was the OL weak point and Belichick exploited it all day.

It shut down Gurley and as a result Goff was pressured on 42% of his drop backs. Comparatively, Brady was pressured on 12% of his drop backs. Yet the game was tied 3-3 at the end of the 3rd qtr. Of course no one says Brady played poorly.

Goff was a topic when it was posted in here about his contract and possible negotiations. Then somebody had to shit on him as usually happens.

Definitely 100% agree with that I was talk purely ability but yes absolutely just like the shit narrative rams getting now from teams who can't win shit so they throw stones. Colts have no business speaking when they pinch pennies and win shit and the bills please you started to emulate the rams then nobody wanted to really go there beside Von for a dumb deal and you couldn't lure anyone else now it's convenient you tell fan base "we don't want to do wt rams did" hmmmm what's that win a chip????? You wish (bills) you could or could have done that at least once fans are starved for a chip. Such a load of crap. On the goff thing definitely agree you nailed it that would of been the narrative for sure "bust"
That's the media and or pundits all force fed garbage even on the sports world.

Not sure you can say he didnt play well against the Cowboys. They ran for 250 yards...didn't need him.

He was 11 of 21 in the first half with 4 drops. Plus he had inside pressure in face on practically every pass play. This was the game Belichick probably designed the SB game plan around.

"Those two guys in the middle (Sullivan/Blythe) are weak. Look what Dallas did to them."

The fact is, few Ram fans give Goff the kudos he earned. But now he's somewhere else on the verge of having another awesome offense. Two different teams. Two awesome offenses. You don't do that without a damn good QB and it just so happens, he's the common denominator with both.

Having said that, I'll always appreciate the Lombardi and any more that may come our way with #9 back there. But just because you love one QB doesn't mean you have to hate the other.

Gurley and Anderson weren't as effective, and Goff had a good game. Has anyone said otherwise?

But, I hope no one is saying that the rushing attack had little to do with that game.

No one is going to be able to get me to believe that the Saints didn't focus their efforts on stopping a rushing attack that averaged about 5 yards per pop for the season (truly important for overall record) and who had just put up 273 yards the week before against Dallas. That would be coaching incompetence for the Saints. Even the threat of such a rushing attack is the dream of any offense that relied so much on play-action passes. TEAM.

But, I'm done with this topic. Have at it.

By the 2nd half it was obvious they had to stop the passing game and they couldn't.

I agree with basically everything you said however I do need to throw in the better the o-line the better the qb. Taking nothing away from goff but that's one of the best o-lines in the business so goff still showing he is who he is but had goff been under center for us last year it would be the other narrative. The o-line has a lot to do with it for any qb. I'd love to see wt an Aaron Rodgers does past year behind our online and behind Detroits last yr.
Absolutely the Detroit line is good. And, absolutely, the better the oline, the better the QB. (Exhibit A: Matt Stafford last year. ) I would venture to say that most outstanding offensive teams with high performing qbs also have high performing o-lines. But the qb still has to play at a high level to make the offense work.

It's a team game.

Or you could raise another "what if" hypothetical.

Kupp plays, the Rams win.

You can't tell me Kupp wouldn't have stepped up. Rookie or not. Kupp was and is one of, if not the, GOAT.

And yet they were blitzing Goff, who made two great throws to unload it in the flats on the winning fg drive.

Eagles Cut Marquis Blair. (Former 2nd rd pick from Seattle)

Could be a decent young kid to get after the draft. Played on a 1yr/1 mil year deal
