Watching the videos doesn't mean he can actually understand what he's seeing. For this to work he needs his QB coach showing him how to break it down and explain what he's looking at. The fact it's done at home means he will spend 4 hours not learning a damn thing.

WTF has he been doing all these years in the Card's QB room? Obviously, he hasn't been paying attention.

I've said it repeatedly, Lamar Jackson is a far better QB. He's actually improved his ability to play in the pocket. I knew from the minute they hired Kliff that the Cards would be a dumpster fire and it's only gotten worse with time.

Below is the crux of the Cardinals stupidity. The only thing this contract serves is to create division amongst player, coaching, front office, and fans over time. They can't possibly hope to enforce this minus extreme circumstances like Murray going online and bragging about how he wipes his ass with this requirement. But likely he does bare minimum and still doesn't hold his end up and the Cardinals will have to make a choice that will ultimately lead to them wasting hundreds of millions of dollars. Not to mention every time Murray stinks it up the fans will be blaming his laziness. Barring Murray winning a Super Bowl there's no happy ending to this kind of contract for the Cardinals.

Seems fairly simple to enforce to me. The app he uses to study film gets custom developed by the Cardinals to record from the iPad camera. You hire literally anyone off of Fivrr to watch all 4 hours of recording and tell you if his face wasn't on screen at any point or if he appears to be asleep for any portion of it. Offer bonuses if they catch him. They can even be pretty hefty since the Cards will save $100m if he violates the contract. Alternatively, you can have an intern/assistant/water boy/etc do it.

Total cost over the season to complete if he watches all four hours each week is probably less than $100k. Probably way less.

There wasn't anything in what I saw that says how he's supposed to prove he did the 4 hours, but it would be in his best interest to ensure he grabs a team assistant or offensive QC coach or somebody to watch him for 4 hours while he does it. I don't think the "honor system" is going to work in court.

It totally does! That was exactly the argument between the talking heads the last two weeks. Lamar was missing from PFF's (I think) top 10 QBs and they were getting roasted for it by pundits. Then he got slandered by a GM just this week about not being a "QB."

FWIW, guy has been making plays on plays from the pocket the last few years but I think the label that he's just a runner has stuck cause that's how he came in... and who's gonna be bothered to watch a Baltimore game.

Dude has had a below average oline, wr core and a OC who can't design a passing attack most of his entire career and has developed into a Tier 2 passer at a minimum and a Tier 1 running threat. He's amazing.... though his playoff appearances have been lackluster.

Point is Lamar is a QB who requires his legs to help him move the offense consistently. So what happens when he gets hurt, as he will, and they're paying him top QB money.

He is a perfect example of how teams need to make tough decisions by focusing on the truth. Which in this case is that he's not a plus reader and decision maker from the pocket. He's a half field reader who benefits from scripted passes and shit that made Kraepernick look great under Greg Roman in SF. The guy has a great and powerful arm but QB in today's league is 90% mental so if you're gonna pay one he'd better have it upstairs.

Put another QB in that system and they fail miserably.

Lamar is a "system QB" just like many other QBs are, just more extreme. Bottom line is what kind of production can you get out of that player at that position and he's produced.. big time. Will he last long? Probably not.. but he's in his prime.

He had two years in a row rushing over 1000 yards and lead the #1 scoring offense in 19 and #7 in 20.

I'd call that big time. I get you don't think how it's done doesn't fit "quarterback" to you... me? I just look at the impact.
