With the 105th pick in the draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Malachi Dupre WR LSU

Strengths
Has desired size and athletic ability. Experienced at multiple receiver spots. More talented than production would dictate. Tracks the deep throws like an outfielder and can adjust catch positioning without taking his eye off the ball. Consistently solid catch rate throughout his career. Adjusts to low throws and balls behind him to make the catch. Looks to turn it up the field quickly after the catch. Dips low and drives through cornerbacks while stretching for additional yardage. Small sample size during freshman season gave hints of his downfield potential.

Weaknesses
Lacks upfield juice into his routes. Vertical push doesn't appear to threaten cornerbacks. Needs to play faster off the snap. Slow to sink and open on curls. Needs a greater commitment to nuances of route-running in order to improve his separation. Tends to tip his hand early allowing cornerbacks to match his patterns. Stalk-blocker with marginal aggression and sustain after initial contact.

Sources Tell Us
"I was asked by someone at the school about where he would be drafted if he came out and I told them on the third day. I recommended he go back to school. His size is interesting but I don't see a fast player." - NFC Personnel Director

Bottom Line
Big target who has suffered from arrested development due, in part, to quarterback inconsistencies at LSU. Dupre is a developmental receiver with some upside but it could take some time before he's ready to contribute. Could be a potential third or fourth wide receiver with time and coaching.
Another Great WR pick! Ne just put up a 4.43 - 40 at his Pro-Day, that fixed his 4.52 at the Combine!
He also has:
* a great 39.5 Vert.
* and a Fine 135.0 Broad jump!!
* Plus he has a 124.8 SPARQ score!

Both Jake Butt and Dupre are great value at 100+.

Dupre could play TE as well - plays the short routes exceptionally well.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I have to applaud you Dave for your knowledge of these guys - you've added so much to this draft process once again this year - if you ever come to Wales, I'll buy you a pint. It would be fun to sit down over a beer or two and talk stats.

Thank you sir.

At 6ft 2/ 196 I don't think he has the size to play TE. JMO!

... we shall see , I have him listed at 6'3".

I watched a bit of LSU last year and he plays the standard TE routes really well and could bulk up if necessary.

This video shows many of his deep TD's but its his short routes that will be valuable at NFL level -- not the fastest receiver IMO.

Going to give everyone 45 minutes to discuss trades. I'll be ready to make a pick by then, that's my deadline and I'm sticking to it.

If you want to trade, PM me.

If we haven't made a deal by 6 PM EST (3 PM PST) everything is off the table.

With the 107th pick in the ROD Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...Vince Biegel, LB, Wisconsin

Vince.jpg

Why I picked him: I think Biegel can be one of the most disruptive SAM LBs in the NFL. He's athletic and explosive. His calling card is his play against the run. In the run game, he's instinctive, he has the ability to set the edge and shed blocks quickly and efficiently with advanced hand usage and pure violence. At his Pro Day he showed he has smooth fluid hips and the intelligence to drop into coverage efficiently in man or zone, and on 3rd downs is an effective pass rusher as well, with underrated bend and a multitude of pass rush moves.

How he fits: The Dolphins really struggled last year against the run. A lot of the problems was their LB play. They just couldn't shed blocks and fill gaps against blockers. That's no longer the case, with Lawrence Timmons and now Vince Biegel there. He will immediately fill in at SAM LB and provide immediate assistance to that unit. He'll also be able to put his hand in the ground to rush the passer in some situations, and we'll be able to maybe get him some time as one of the two LBs in nickel in some packages. He's going to be a movable chess piece we can get a lot of snaps to and allow him to make plays, and he fills our biggest need as a very strong run defender with size. He's a Patriots type of linebacker, and we want to emulate that success with these versatile monsters, and I think we got a steal here.

Biegel showed his run game prowess against one of the best rushing teams in college, and also his pass rush ability in this game against LSU. You can see how he'd really benefit a team like the Dolphins looking for those traits.

Welcome to the 4th round!

@Riverumbbq is on the clock.

@TK42-RAM is on deck.

Really nice pick DYVKX!! Nice size at 6ft 3/246! He's supposed to be a OLB, But I see him more of a SILB!
* 4.67-40
* Benched 21X
* 33.5 Vert.
* 118.0 Broad jump
* 4.30 short shuttle
* and a 6.92 3-cone drill
* Plus a decent 122.2 SPARQ score!
He should be good help for Miami!(y)

I'm going to be sending PMs to all our GMs in the near future. I'll be talking about two things, one of which is important now and one of which will be important in the near future.

1. Some of our GMs are forgetting to notify the next two GMs that they are on the clock or on deck. Please remember to do that. The PM will repeat this as I can't be certain all our GMs will have read this post.

We all appreciate those GMs who have covered for them!(y)

2. In our first ROD mock we only went 4 rounds. In our second ROD mock I only managed the mock for the first 4 rounds but I believe that someone took over (@TheDYVKX ?) for me and possibly did all 7 rounds. But not with the full cast of GMs we started with. I don't know how many continued on and how many rounds it went because I wasn't paying much attention. I only promised to do the first 4 rounds this year but that was mainly because I have a non-negotiable time limit I must adhere to. It appears we will be finishing much earlier than I anticipated so while I'm not going to do all 7 rounds I am willing to preside until I have to go (or the day before depending). Unless @TheDYVKX wants to take over after round 4 or at any other time.

What I need from all our GMs is confirmation that you are willing to go all 7 rounds or not. In addition, assuming not all want to go all 7 rounds, I need a list of all the GMs who are willing to take on an additional team. I'm not sure how @TheDYVKX wants to proceed with that portion of this mock but while I am running it there will be a stipulation that must be followed by all the GMs that have more than one team. NO TRADES BETWEEN YOUR 2 TEAMS. For obvious reasons.

I'll be sending those PMs in the next few days. Those GMs for which item number 1 doesn't apply just ignore it. I would appreciate it if ALL the GMs responded to item number 2. After I've received replies from everyone I will publish a list of teams available (from the GMs who don't want to do all 7 rounds) and the GMs who are willing to take on another team. I will then ask for preferences in teams and we'll talk it through who gets who. Hopefully everyone will want to do all 7 rounds and item number 2 will be moot but we need to be prepared for it if necessary.

P.S. Please don't respond to this post in this thread. Do so in the PM I'm going to send you.
