I guess your right. Replacing Ramsey, Floyd, AShawn, Gaines, Scott etc.., with a bunch of drafted rookies and UDFA’s is a piece of cake. 45 is plenty if your playing the odds.
Once again thank you for the wonderful strawman argument and even better putting it in blue font. By far the best at creating strawmen Bob Ross aint got shit on you for painting a strawmen.

I’ll admit, I was perplexed at first and a bit disappointed in the return on the Ramsey trade, but I’m seeing more of a plan that appears to have been discussed before just a few months ago.
IMO, last year’s draft was all about replacing our secondary this year. They got valuable real game reps instead of riding the pine. That’s gotta be a good thing.

If that type of mindset is going on during this draft, I don’t see how the Rams don’t look for a TE (Higbee), a RB (Akers), and believe it or not…
I’m warming to the idea that the Rams might be looking for a WR THIS year. I was initially thinking our 1rst rounder next year; but the way it looks to me, whether they get traded this year or not, I don’t see either Robinson or VJ coming back.

Maybe YOU are right and I am wrong, but there is a plan in place that even my tiny brain is starting to see and if it flops, then I will lick my wounds.

I too have seen a lotta football (that’s a very old picture of me) and I really don’t want this ride to crash and burn as fast as the GSOT did. I waited too long for that one, too long for this one, and I don’t know if I can handle another drought like we went through prior to McVay.

I GOTTA BELIEVE!
Ding, ding, ding!!!!!

But it seems all so sudden to many fans. "Ramsey is a 27 mil cap hit....and we can't afford it". "Floyd 22 mil?"

"I'm shocked, shocked I say, that we've been pushing money off into the future!! For what? A Superbowl Championship followed by the worst collapse the next year?"

That last part obviously wasn't part of the plan but unloading salaries was. Drafting for just such a sutuation was too. But they didn't hit on an Edge before the purge. TLew, Garrett, Obo. Hardy is still around but they have three early shots this year. And they'll probably bring in a vet after the draft.

These guys know what they're doing.

Blue font and straw man were on purpose. But you never seem to realize it, so I keep doing it.

man we really had some bad luck after the GSOT. the Bradford years were horrible and the coaches after Martz and then the fisher years. lol. we had hope because he had good defenses but no qb that could last. It was a long time in ST. Louis, never should have been there to begin with and then we got Kroenke who provided us with an L.A. return and coach Mcvay. I Have faith in McVay and his coaches this year, like I did with Fisher until the wheels fell off... Hard! go rams.

As of right now the Rams have 11 picks and I believe they will keep that number. Now, they might trade up and down during the draft, but I do believe, it will still net them 11 picks.

Den I would hope a trade down comes with an additional pick. Other than that I am in agreement. :thumbsup1:

My feeling was, maybe they trade up to get into the 4th and then trade back down to garner the same number of picks overall.

I doubt they can replace 45 players with adequate to good players in one off-season. It’s tough for any GM to find five good players in an off-season.

The concept through the years to draft special teamers that they hope can be coached up was never a great one. Trading back for more picks to draft subpar players makes little sense to me. If they want to throw away picks then they coul trade them for an equal pick next year.

She mentioned how some of the special teamers would be stuck behind better players already on the roster. This explains the Atwell pick. Start him out as a punt returner and let him learn and earn a spot on the roster. That is a horrible concept of how to use a second round pick. If they are lucky they get one or two years as a starter out of him in that case. Then he nets them a sixth round comp pick, if that. Another option is to draft starting level players with early picks to push expensive vets for starting time. Say a good safety to push Rapp. Or a good Center to push Allen.

@Allen2McVay you are spot on about Hammond. I wish she would find a new partner. He stammers constantly and nothing of interest ever comes out. He grates on me.

Conversely, I love Jourdan and her info. Just remember that she can’t be telling us too much at this point about strategy and the draft. She is a reporter, not a seer.
Some good points.
Have examples of your thoughts of how I would have addressed things that show just that.

Well if The Traded up say Cam Akers & T. Lewis they get Johnathan Taylor. That said I believe Cam Akers has a lot of UP-side at only 22(23).knee injuries are always high risk .

-example of keeping a special teams player that hurt The Rams.
JAKE FUNK!!! Key position.

I’m banging hard on the table to draft a RB early again.Akers is a FA. Williams is already coming off a weird injury.

Zack Charbonnet could be a nice complement RB & Stud ! The SAD thing is basic rebuilds are easy. There is no way this a remodel. This is a rebuild.NO-JOKING RAM FANS DEMOFF(Snead).

Core Donald & Stafford (Kupp).

If Mcvay if talking 2017 his comparison is CRAP!!

Saffold & Brockers were both gone at some point as RAMS.Resigned after Medical.
-that’s just the beginning of MENTORS.

They’re all gone . Well Havenstien & Noteboom(Allen)
Higbee

On defense it’s AD99(Eric Henderson) & Fuller who is coming off an injury.

That shows The Rams direction come draft day.

One thing I'm sure of, we will be a destination team for UDFA's and likely grab a lot of the better guys after the draft. There is opportunity on this team, perhaps, at some positions, more then any other team out there.

For better or worse - and I'm on the record saying we will be a playoff team - I'm excited to see all these young guys play this year. The only thing I won't be excited about is coming to this forum....might be good to make two different threads when the Rams lose this year - "doom and gloom" and "positives"
