8to12 2025 Divisional playoff Mock Draft

8to12 2025 Divisional playoff Mock draft

This will be Draft only. I won’t go into detail regrading Free Agency other than to presume that some players may be gone, ie Atwell, Witherspoon, Noteboom, Bobby Brown etc

Trade: Rams send #26 & 2025 4th
Jaguars send #36 & #70
Draft:
#36 TE Harold Fanin Jr – Bowling Green - 6’4” - 230 lbs - 4.62/40
Harold Fannin Jr. || FBS Leading Receiver || 2024 Season Highlights
1737197486534.jpeg

McVay gets the playmaking TE he’s been looking for. Other than needing to work on releasing from the LOS against press coverage, Fanin is NFL ready. He is an experienced chess piece being used in multiple alignments and formations, from lining up in the backfield to being split out wide. He is a YAC master. He can make defenders miss as well as most RB’s. At 230 lbs, he’s not going to be positioned inline but he is an accomplished blocker in space and is highly rated in that regard.

#70 CB Trey Amos - Ole Miss - 6’1” - 190 lbs - 4.42/40
"Trey Amos Is An AGGRESSIVE CORNER!" | 2025 NFL Draft Prospect Spotlight!
1737197486548.jpeg

I think Amos could be that “Alpha” CB the Rams have been missing since Ramsey’s departure. He peaked this season with 3 INT’s and 13 PBU’s. Has prototypical size for the position with great ball skills. Can play Zone as well as press coverage. He is also physical at the LOS playing the Run well and is proactive at attacking WR screens. He can be weak when taking on blockers and will need to get stronger but that is about the only obvious weakness. He has QB rating of 58 when targeted ... that is about top 15 percentile

#90 WR Jack Bech – TCU - 6’2” 215 lbs - 4.55/40
Jack Bech Scouting Report & Film Review | 2025 NFL Draft Prospect
1737197486559.jpeg

Bech fits the mold perfectly of a Nacua/Kupp type receiver. He has the similar size, strength, skill set to take over if either of them go down, or can replace Kupp if his skills continue to diminish. Like Kupp and Nacua he is highly graded blocker. You can feel confident aligning him in those tight 11 personnel formations.

#100 OT Ozzy Trapilo - Boston College - 6’8” 309 lbs
Ozzy Trapilo Right Tackle Highlights
1737197486570.jpeg

Trapilo has experience playing both LOT and ROT. I believe with 1 season of NFL conditioning & coaching, he should be able to improve his Run blocking skills to go along his NFL ready Pass blocking. Due to his height, he lacks lateral agility and getting out in space in wide zone schemes will be difficult. But, he should be OK in the existing Rams run scheme of more between the Tackles running.

#125 ILB - Jackson Woodard - UNLV - 6’3” 230 lbs
Jackson Woodard. LB UNLV. NFL Draft Prospect 2025 Análisis
1737197486582.jpeg

First, if you don’t speak Spanish, then turn the sound down on Video, LOL
Woodard is a combination of great player and great leader. He was a finalist for the Campbell trophy given to outstanding student athlete with exceptional service to their community. What I like about Woodard is ability in Pass coverage. He would be an immediate upgrade in range and lateral quickness to the ILB room.

#188 NT - Jamaree Caldwell - Oregon - 6’1” 340 lbs
Jamaree Caldwell | Defensive Tackle | Full 2024 Oregon Highlights | 2025 NFL Draft
1737197486593.jpeg

I think Caldwell would fill the missing hole in the Rams 3-4 front. A true NT who can play over the Center and take on double teams and help protect the ILB’s. As big as Bobby Brown is , he was not able to, nor put into a true position to do this. He also provides some Bull rush ability. Something to note, Caldwell, at 6’1”, had 3 deflected passes this season.

#199 RB Brashard Smith - SMU 5’10” 196 lbs 4.40/40
(2) Brashard Smith Highlights - YouTube
1737197486607.jpeg

Preface my thoughts on Smith .... Detroit has something the Rams don’t, RB Gibbs. He is a home run hitter ; can take it to the house on any given play. With Smith being a former WR, he would give McVay many options to use as a chess piece in the offense. If Atwell leaves in Free Agency, Smith could be that 4th receiver in 4 WR sets that can stretch the field. He could be the 3rd down or change of pace back with great receiving ability. And, for his smaller stature, he is an above average pass blocker.

#200 CB O’Donnel Fortune - South Carolina - 6’1” 185 lbs 4.55/40
O'Donnell Fortune Highlights Breakdown - South Carolina Gamecocks
1737197486631.jpeg

After his showing in the East-West Shrine, his stock may rise way above this spot. He has great length, is better in Zone coverage than Man. He can also be aggressive at the LOS playing WR screens. Fortune has a QB rating of 66 when targeted, that is top 10 percentile

A Rams SNOW game!

For the great majority of us on this board, we've never seen a "real" snow game for our Rams. I've been following our Rams since 1979.

Yeah, there was a barely visible flurry at the end of the 1985 NFCCG vs Da Bears, but that hardly counts.

And no, there weren't any snow games during our playoff run in 1989, at either Philly or NY. (And I was at Foxborough for the last regular season game in '89... there was some snow outside and behind the sidelines, but nothing on the field.)

I seem to recall that one of our, uh, "more experienced and mature" members provided video evidence of the last "real" Rams snow game. It was from the 60s or early 70s, vs the Vikings in Minnesota, I think. If anyone can recall when that Rams-Vikings snow game was, feel free to remind us!

Forecast calling for 3-5 inches of snow in Philly on Sunday. Gonna be a memorable one!

Interested in everyone's thoughts on slowing Philly run game

The Ram's worst graded run defender by PFF is . . . Braden Fiske.
But, he is obviously one of the Ram's best pass rushers.
That being the case, when do you put him in the game knowing you must limit the Eagle's rushing attack?

Would Shula/McVay go 4-3 (with Reeder/other as "extra" run stopper LB and bring Lake up to be "8 in the box" in certain situations?
Would they go "5 - 3" on certain downs with Hoecht on DL and Rozeboom, Speights and Lake up? Trust DW/Spoon/Durant to take Brown/Smith one on one?

Seems to me Kobie, Verse, Hoecht, Speights, Lake , Curl and BBIII (if healthy) need to be in to stop the run. The rest is questionable.

They can't get run on like in November so something has to change, especially if BBIII is playing hurt?

Selling out to limit the Eagle's running and putting the game on Hurts' arm/management seems wise, but how exactly?

How does everyone see it happening?

RIP Bob Uecker

Sad day. Mr Baseball has passed. What a great character and ambassador for the game. And who among us hasn't used the phrase "Front Row" from time to time? Hell. I even named one of our dogs after him.

While I was out hunting, we listened to a couple Brewers games. Bob was doing the color for the game. He was still doing one hell of a job.

Bob Uecker 1934-2025 May you rest in peace.

As I pass DaveFan'51 for number of posts...

...I promised I'd make it special. Now's where I - hopefully - make this post special.

I want to give a shoutout to all of my fellow Rams fans, both here and...not. Not just Dave or Odin or Jeff (in our ROD HOF), but other fans as well who are not here today. Fans who may not have gotten to see a Super Bowl in 99 before they passed. Fans who were lost during the moves from LA, Anaheim, and St. Louis. Fans who paved the way for us for our love of not just the Rams but football as a whole; our parents or even grandparents; our uncles, aunts, and cousins, all of whom may have given us fond memories as kids. Our sons and daughters and in some cases grandkids who will carry on our legacy, even after our footprints have long left the mortal coil, and even those children who have sadly passed before us, but would've made the greatest fans ever. Even some of the Rams fans who may not have joined yet on other sites, and yet should be welcomed with open arms. Even some of the Rams fans who may have been banned here, even if it was for a good reason, but have been no less of fans, have had no less of memories, both fair and ill. I know that may be controversial, but if someone truly cares for this team and has someone who truly loves them...who am I to judge their actions or mistakes when I've committed so many myself?

Hold these memories deep in your hearts and souls, and realize just how lucky we truly are to have the memories of '99 and '21 - some fans of other teams have never even gotten to that pinnacle or have never had memories of their team winning it all.

We are RAM strong. We are L.A. We are the Lou. We are every fan from every part of this world, and I couldn't be prouder to share this world with you guys, no matter what background we come from, no matter how much I may disagree with anyone because I fucking love you all.

And on that note, let's go for '24-'25! Let's fuck these fucking Eagles up!

Higbee expects to play on Sunday!

Huge news if he recovers as expected.

Rams offense was on fire when Higbee was in there.

Coughing up blood? Gotta think he'd be taking pain killers before the next game, if doctors clear him.

How about some love for Chris Shula

Wow! I did not expect that defensive output last night. Shula clearly saw what Detroit did to Minnesota and trusted his defenders in bump and run to man up on Minnesota's receivers - and did they respond! Rarely did we see receivers running wide ass open like we have in the past. Rarely (until we had a big lead late in the game) did we give them an 8 yard cushion at the snap. Sure, once in awhile a TE would be open underneath but that was as good of a defensive game plan as I've seen from the Rams in a long time. I've become so tired of the bend-but-don't break mentality that gives us a chance but isn't very aggressive. Our secondary proved they can play with anyone last night. Jefferson is one of the best in the business and we virtually shut him down. The DL was on fire. Let's hope we can keep Hurts in the pocket and tackle Saquon this time.

GAME DAY Wildcard Round Viqueens @ Rams in AZ - Gameday Thread

January 13, 2025 - Wildcard Round

Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams at State farm Stadium AZ, 8 p.m. EST on ESPN/ABC/ESPN+

Game Day Thread

The GDT is a live thread tradition here at ROD.

While we all get fired up watching the game, please remember our core principles; we always show respect for our team and each other.

Despite the emotional highs and lows watching a game, we will moderate this thread with that in mind, however please refrain from name calling. This applies to players, the Rams organization, and each other.

This is the core rule of the GDT. Moderators are tasked to issue thread bans, at a minimum, to maintain this standard.

This is our team. Win or lose. Good days and bad. We are here for FUN, not to be dragged down.

A more loosely moderated atmosphere can be found in the chat room.

Go Rams!

Anyone still debating buying tix?

Hey all, NYC based Rams fan here. Longtime reader, pretty infrequent poster.

I was all booked to go to LA to go watch our Rams at SoFi, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas. My thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fires and hope our LA brethren are staying safe. I am 100% in agreement the game should have been moved so our first responders could focus on fighting the fires, but unfortunately the change has resulted in me not being able to attend the game.

I’d love to turn this into a chance to get some other Rams fans to the game who otherwise would not have been able to go. I would like to purchase tix for others up to $1,000 in total (we will see how many takers we get to see how it translates into # of tix).

A few requirements:
1. You are an avid Rams fan
2. You are available and have means of transport to attend tonight’s game in AZ
3. You will cheer your heart out for the boys tonight until the very end (either way) to help us maintain some home field advantage
4. You don’t have the financial means to typically attend a Rams game (would prefer for this to go to those who need it most)
5. Send some pics after so we can all experience SoFi east!

Stafford’s kids hospitalized w flu?

Matt, maybe let’s stay away from the wife and kids for a bit just in case

————-

The Stafford family's weekend in Arizona took a scary turn.

On Jan. 11, Kelly Stafford—who shares 7-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, as well as daughters Hunter, 6, and Tyler, 4, with NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford—posted a photo from the hospital.

"Last night was long," Kelly wrote on Instagram Story along with a photo of two of their kids in a hospital bed. "Back in beds and sleeping, everyone except Hunter. Feels like she drank a Celsius."

In a follow-up post, Kelly—who tied the knot with Matthew in 2015—shared a picture of their kids walking alongside the NFL player.

"Before that tho," she noted, "they were all smiles getting to go with daddy on his work trip."

Matthew's team, the Los Angeles Rams, traveled to Arizona this week to face off against the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL's Jan. 13 Wild Card game, which was relocated from Inglewood's SoFi Stadium to Glendale's State Farm Stadium amid the ongoing wildfires in Southern California.

And while Kelly didn't share more details about their kids' hospitalization, she recently revealed that some of their family, herself included, had been sick.
