There's still plenty of roster work to be done.. but just a quick snapshot of what's gone on and what it means.
Stafford is back. Awesome.
Entire starting Oline is back. Awesome.
Kupp is exiting. Very, very sad but understandable.
Adams coming in.. a solid upgrade and a better fit with Puka and Tutu.
Higbee and Parkinson back.. both functional TEs.. nothing special, but vets who won't hurt you.
All the RBs back.
The offense is in a GREAT place.
Added Poona Ford and lost Bobby Brown. Based on past performance, a solid upgrade. There's a chance Brown grows up and grows into his ability... but having a real adult run-stopper is huge.
Waiting on Witherspoon.
Lost valuable piece in Hoecht.
So.. what jumps out as the most important next steps?
To me.. it would be nice to add a vet LB.. but I don't expect much here.
Must upgrade the Corner room. I think this will be done through the draft.. but hope Spoon is back as well. Keep's the floor of this room higher than without him.
Must upgrade tackle depth on Oline. MUST.
Corner and OT are, to me, the most critical NEEDS for the team now. There's a solid argument for ILB... BUT.. The Rams always seem to patchwork the position.. so I'm not expecting any huge investment there.
To me.. this points to CB and OT needing to be the top priorities in the draft now.
Nicole Blake is an interesting name... replacing Gladstone's job. Rams have never been shy of breaking down barriers. Kellen Clemens is a part of our front office apparently.

John McKay has been promoted to assistant general manager. Joining the Rams as a scouting assistant in 2016, he held that role for five seasons (through 2020) before serving as director of pro scouting from 2021-24. Nicole Blake has been elevated to director of scouting, strategy and analytics. She most recently served as a scouting strategist for the Rams from 2022-24, and one season as a scouting strategy consultant (2021). Ray Farmer has been promoted to senior advisor to the general manager. He most recently held the title of senior personnel executive from 2021-24; prior to that, he served as a scouting consultant for the Rams in 2020. Taylor Morton has been promoted to senior personnel executive and deputy chief of college scouting staff. He served as a senior personnel executive the previous eight seasons (2017-24). Prior to that, Morton was director of player personnel for four seasons (2013-16) and the director of college scouting (2012).
Five area scouts also received new titles:
Billy Johnson has been promoted to senior scouting executive. Previously an Area Scout from 2016-24, he was responsible for the Southeast region as well as Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky during that time.
Brian Hill has been elevated to national scout. Previously an area scout from 2015-24, he was responsible for the Midwest region after he covered the west coast area for two years. He joined the Rams as a scouting assistant and held that role for two seasons (2013-15).
Michael Pierce has been promoted to national scout. Previously an area scout from 2017-24, he was responsible the Southeast region including states such as Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina during that time. Pierce assisted with free agent workouts and draft meetings in his first two seasons with the Rams.
Vito Gonella has been elevated to regional scout. Previously an area scout from 2017-2024, he was responsible for the western region of the U.S. during that time. Prior to that, Gonella served as a scouting assistant/analyst for two seasons (2015-16).
Cedric Jones has been promoted to regional scout. He was previously an area scout for the Southwest region from 2017-24 after spending three and a half years consulting for the team in a scouting capacity.
On the pro personnel side, Matt Waugh has been promoted to director of pro personnel. He previously served as a pro scout for the Rams over the last six seasons (2019-24), and before that a pro scouting assistant for the team from 2017-18.
Additionally, Micheal Young has been named pro scout. In Young's previous role as a scouting apprentice over the last five seasons, he assisted with U.S. regions including the north, northeast, midwest and west. Kellen Clemens, who previously served as a scouting consultant, has been named special assistant to the general manager/analyst. Clemens had a 12-year NFL career as quarterback which included stints with the Jets (2006-10), Rams (2011-13) and Chargers (2014-17) after being drafted 49th overall by the Jets in the second round in 2006.
Been reading a ton about QB now that some other needs have been met in FA. But how about RB?
Sorry, my concern for ball security was justified as we saw in the playoffs. I just don't trust our RB room.
So how due the draft gurus here feel about RBs available in late first round? Assuming Rams agree with me, is there anybody worth taking there or should we trade down?
Defensive lineman Poona Ford and the Los Angeles Rams have agreed to terms on a three-year deal just under $30 million with $17 million guaranteed, per sources. -- Jeremy Fowler, national NFL reporter
I HATE playing Dre, but he has the attitude we need and Verse started to bring. Physicality, attitude and pushing the edge of being physical and dirty. You hate to play but love to have.
Okay, now that we've signed Adams, Kupp is out the door for sure. My question is: What happened down the stretch that made him a non-factor? I realize he was hurt early on but came back and was doing well then...the last six games or so he was only getting a pass or two thrown his way per game. Did he really fall off that far? Was it that he couldn't get separation? I'm sure he didn't piss anyone off in the clubhouse. He had such chemistry with Stafford and Puka off the field that it's hard to believe something came between him and Stafford for Matthew not to look his way. Was it the fact that he was injured so much that Snead just said "enough's enough"? I'm in Montana so if any of you down in LA have heard something, I'd like to hear it.
Okay gents, since I am a Rams fan and a defensive coordinator for the best team in the country of Norway, I have done some digging into film to try and understand where we got schematically beat.
What I found was that the scheme was fine. The problem was the execution. Case in point… On that play where Jalen Hurts took a QB-Trap-Option to the house, it was apparent that at least two of our players made mistakes. One mistake was sloppy technique and the other was brain paralysis.
I present four slides as evidence.
The first slides shows us the formation and alignment a split second after the ball is snapped. This is basically what is referred to as the pre-snap alignment. The first thing I will point out is the alignment of Rozenbloom. Notice how he is a front side defender roughly occupying the B gap.
The second slide we can see Jalen reading the defense as he debates whether to put the ball in the belly of Saquan. We can also see that both the front side guard and tackle are pulling. It also shows Agent 0 attempt to wall off pulling guard. (Ref: If you want to see how to meet a pulling guard see Eagles.)
The third slide shows us how ROOKIE ILB has not moved. He literally does not know what to do and apparently hasn`t seen the two pulling linemen. He is frozen, and he is not even a dive or pitch defender because BOTH the WILL and OLB are there for that. Literally all ROOKIE ILB need to do was fallow the pulling linemen and beat them to the whole.
The fourth, and last slide, shows us what happened to the backside pursuit. Notice how ROOKIE ILB still has not moved. And now he can`t move. Also notice how Agent Zer0 has hampered DL persuit. Rozenbloom played it right but he didn`t have a pursuit angle given that he had to go around the line from the front side B Gap to the backside C Gap.
since i'm not able to make jeff/bome proud of me....i wanted to hopefully make you, my dear extended family, proud
march 1, 2025 i had an Ischemic stroke.
i was in hospital from the 1st until today (7th). I just got home. i was first told from hospital i'd be going to rehab for 2-3 and possibly up to 6 weeks. i pushed and got myself to where i was passed where rehab could get me so i got to come home.
i'm not fully recovered....long way to go for that still! but i pushed myself and begged and asked that the physical therapist to do the same. together we got me to at least 6 weeks ahead of where everyone (dr.'s included) thought i would be.
i just kept thinking jeff/bome would encourage me to keep going. and that since he isn't here....i then also began to think that everyone here would do so as well. so in a sense.....thank you for allowing me (not that you knew you were lol) to use your thoughts and encouragements to get me this far.
i'm not all the way back, but i am a lot further than i would be if i hadn't thought about you all and used imagined words of support to get me home again. i'll continue to use your kindness and 'bullying' (which i need or i'll stop...and that's not an option...so i'll think of you all pushing me to keep going forward--if that's ok....and if not, i'm going to anyway! lol) to continue to improve myself to hopefully get to at least 95% back to where i was. i'll be happy there...but that won't mean i'll stop there. i'll keep pushing in hopes of a full recovery.
my love and thanks for being there for me, in spirit at least, to make you all proud of me.
sorry i used you in place of hubs....but you all really did help.
love to you all.
p.s. i'll keep you updated as the recovery improves. <3 <3 <3
Jaylin Noel from Iowa State posted a 4.39 40, 41.5 vert, bench rep 225lbs 23 times, broad of 11"2, 20 yard shuttle of 4.17. Now all of these are top 10 at his position and some number one. Hes incredible athletic posting this kind of work out and his film shows the same athlete on the field. Standing 5 "11 194lbs and posting a stat line of 80 rec 1194 yards and 8 TD's leaving the cyclones as its all time 2nd leading receiver and 3rd all time for yards. His combine blows Puka's out of the water but we all know pure athleticism and good college/combine results doesn't always translate to the NFL. However its not like he didn't play against good competition putting up one of his better games against number 13 Miami on the pop tart bowl (Yeah that one) with 8 rec for 117 yards and a TD. he did this with a middle of the road QB Rocco Becht. There's at least 15 bigger named receivers that will hear their named called before Noel is even mentioned, allowing him to fall a bit. Hes putting up Tutu type speed with DK Metcalf type power and explosiveness. He might even fall lower just due to where he played and not having tremendous output compared to some of these other guys. Anyone watched this kid and take notice of what he was doing at the combine?
Vertical weapon, great hands, high football IQ. He played in the slot and inline. After the catch he’s a major threat. Per PFF, he was tied for 4th best in the nation for YAC at 9.1. He’s a decent pass protector and is a willing run blocker but could use refinement in that aspect.
#90 - OT, Anthony Belton, North Carolina State - 6’5”, 345 lbs
Massive offensive tackle with demonstrated versatility to play guard at the Senior Bowl. Strong in pass pro and run blocking. He’ll start off as the swing tackle with the eventual goal of being Hav’s replacement.
#100 - DT, Jordan Phillips, Maryland - 6’3”, 320 lbs
Highly competitive, physical, great instincts, great ball skills. He’s not the quickest but did have the top speed amongst CBs at the combine. Has kick return ability.
Sanker is alignment versatile with snaps as the nickel defender, free safety, and in the box. His best fit will be as a box safety where he excels in run support. In coverage, he’s able to stay in phase with RBs, TEs, WRs, and shallow crossers. He’s limited though when it comes to covering depth. Best in zone coverage which makes him a fit for us. I envision him as Curl’s replacement who is a free agent next year.
Good instincts and eyes in zone coverage which makes him a fit for defense. Impressive ball production. He’s a willing tackler but needs to improve his tackling technique.
Developmental LB with tools, strong leader, football IQ. He has elite coverage instincts and can match up with backs and TEs. He’d pair well with Speights who excels in run defense but is lacking in coverage abilities.
STARTING LINEUP (DEPTH)
QB: Stafford (Garoppolo)
HB: Kyren Williams (Corum, RaheimSanders)
WR: Puka Nacua
WR: Tutu Atwell
WR: Jayden Higgins
WR depth is Whittington and Xavier Smith
TE: Tyler Higbee (Elijah Arroyo, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen)
LT: Alaric Jackson
LG: Steve Avila
C: Beaux Limmer
RG: Kevin Dodson
RT: Rob Havenstein
OL depth will be Dylan McMahon, Justin Dedich, Anthony Belton, Warren McClendon
DE: Kobie Turner
NT: Tyler Davis
DE: Braden Fiske
DL depth: Jordan Phillips, Desjuan Johnson
OLB: Jared Verse
OLB: Byron Young (Brennan Jackson)
ILB: Jackson Woodard
ILB: Omar Speights
This position would be a strong target for inexpensive vets post-draft and UDFAs.
CB: Darious Williams
CB: Cobie Durant
NCB: Quentin Lake
Per Jourdan, the Rams like Derion Kendrick so CB is less of a need to get early.
Four secondary players in Kendrick, Durant, Curl, and Lake are 2026 free agents so we draft replacements now.
