Once again yes and no. 15 College games and nothing that screams top 15 starter in 2-3 years. I get every player is a crap shoot. Reading majority of posters on here and vast majority of sports pundits across the country don't see a return on investment with Simpson.

I'll agree to respectfully disagree on him. If he turns into some miraculous player in a few years I'll eat crow. But to this date when making a point about a player on here my diet has been Crow Free!
Watch this interview of Simpson. curious what your take away is. My son sent this to me. He didn't like the pick until he watched this. And he is tough to convince on things like this.... he can be critical.

Actually this film breakdown with Simpson is the one you should watch... the other one is just an interview.

Here he breaks down his own film. Shows that he us a little McVay like with his recall of plays & situations.

Still very possible Simpson can be both, Rostered, and QB3. They do that from time to time most recently with Bryce Perkins, and even 2016 with Goff.
True, but, it would seem they are keeping 5 TEs and maybe 7 DL....numbers game after a bit and if they don't like Bennett enough to have him be the backup, then, they likely move on from him.
If, after camp, Simpson is relegated to the 3 spot, thats not a good start.

We shall serve no wine, before its time....

I think the only way this doesn’t happen is if Ty has a Dak-like rookie preseason where it’s clear as day that he’s a starting QB in this league.

Otherwise either Stetson proves he’s got what it takes to be QB2 or they overpay for Jimmy or Flacco to get off their couch and come be QB2 for a true blue contender.

Didn't Stetson have a good pre-season last year? Looked improved and sort of competent?

I agree with you to an extent. When you're window is now, as the team admits, you have to get impact players now.

If this was a 9-8 team that was projected to possibly make the playoffs I'm all in on Simpson for the future. How many teams are close and don't make the right moves to win? I'd say vast majority of runner ups in the SB. Once again, just my opinion on it.
Of course, it probably safe to say that the majority of posters on here and vast majority of sports pundits across the country haven't really studied much of any of these prospects very closely and are just parroting each other. If fact, I noticed that many of the people commenting now didn't post or say much of anything about these players at all prior to the draft.

Few are even talking about the actual player now, but are focused upon an idea of some other mostly unnamed rookie that could have help this imaginary window the team is in. At the same time, they appear to be totally ignoring or perhaps unaware that the player acquisition process didn't end after the 13th selection in the draft.

Probably for others, Makai Lemon or even another offensive weapon was pigeonholed to be the Rams selection for months by the masses and when that didn't happen it probably made the Rams wrong in their eyes. It's sorta like the fans that judge their team's (who have all the information) draft based upon Mel Kiper (and his limited information) draft board.

The very ugly....the last couple of years we missed the Superbowl because of mistakes or bad calls. We had the talent we had the most talented team in the league, but we fucked up, we made costly mistakes. Our weakness last years was our secondary and we took care of that right off the bat. Last year's real good team is already better this year.
Yet all I keep reading we didn't draft this new binkie or this Joe Blow so our team doesn't have a chance. We threw it all away, because we drafted a QB that media whores don't like. Forget that Snead and McVay like the kid, some nobody from some rag website writing bullshit from his Mommie's basement says he's no good.
There's no guarantee that these other kids are going to light it up right off the bat and help a team to the SB.
There's more to life than today. I could image the crying next year if Stafford retires and we can't get a QB unless we give up our draft capital for the next two or 3 years. People need to relax, we aren't even close to the season yet and we still have the best team. The team made the trade to draft a QB this year at last year's draft. They brought in some extra firepower to the coaching staff to train a young QB. The writing has been on the wall; this has been the plan since last year.

I don't doubt your point about posters parroting comments about about a player. I read up on guys and watch the reels on anyone tagged as a possible Ram. Fun thing about Lemon, I don't think he's that great. He might amazing physical attributes, he comes across as a Dope IMO.

I am color blind and it took me a minute to read the rest of your post.

All of us become lemmings sometimes.

The one thing about the Rams when it comes to the draft, no-one really knows. I sure as heck didn't. I thought a OL was a definite pick with Hav retiring. Once again I'm stuck on my couch without an NFl check to supplement my income.

I think drafting Simpson makes perfect sense for the long term success of the Rams organization. Is it a gamble? Of course! It’s the toughest position to effectively evaluate and develop. Bottom line for the Rams future it was important to have a succession plan. Teams that have success rarely draft in the range where they can acquire a good QB prospect. Rams are probably going to have Matthew Staffprd around for two more years max. He played at a high level last season after overcoming his back issues and the Rams did a great job protecting him. Back injuries don’t exactly go away with age and while some QB’s have been effective beyond 40 years of age they tend to be the exception and not the norm. Simpson won’t help them in 2026 but he will get valuable experience and hopefully be ready to play in the coming years which could be the difference of being in QB limbo like a lot of teams have become or one with a capable successor. Simpson might never be the QB that Stafford is but he has a unique skill set of his own that a talented offensive genius like McVay could design an offense that will take advantage of. It’s a long term plan that could keep the Rams contending for a championship for the next 10-15 years.

My thoughts exactly.

But ... then again ... What the Fuck do I know?
Why no blue font?

:hiding:
The ugly: I don't think there was anything ugly about the Rams day, so I'll just throw Skip Bayless in there because ya know, he's Skip Bayless, ugly on the outside and the inside.
Too funny. Couldn’t agree more.

I don't think I have seen one comment that says we have no chance.

Me - I just wanted an even better chance. And 3rd WR, 3rd CB, ILB and backup OT would have given us that better chance IMHO. Those are the 4 positions I wanted in the first 3 rounds by trading back.

I am hoping Klare or Daniels will help on the 3rd WR position (even though Klare is a TE). And Trost is hopefully a really good back-up to Jackson and McClendon.

What I don't understand is it when someone doesn't buy into the idea of what the Rams did by drafting Simpson is that so wrong? The Rams are not infallible and history isn't on Simpson's side in terms of college experience. On the flip side, the Rams obviously deserve the chance to coach the kid up to show its the right move. Is it the right move though? Let's not kid ourselves, none of us obviously know that part including the Rams. The answer will come in due time. People are always going to have different ideas and never completely agree on a direction taken. Hoping that we do is basically beating your head against a wall. I think what most can agree on is to root the Rams on even if we don't agree with all their moves. I know that's what I'm doing. Lastly, not trying to say this in a bad or insulting way at all, but I think you should take your own advice and relax, Simpson is a Ram. Time to enjoy the rest of the ride and ignore the media. They are always talking shit and hypotheticals. That's a never ending cycle.

I think Stetson's 1st 2 pre-seasons were pretty underwhelming so in contrast, last year looked "improved"
When he played against any level of competition he wasnt good, but mopped up against 5th stringers. Heck, even Dresser Winn looked good in his game

Actually Stetson looked ok against 1st and 2nd stringers last preseason.

This in bold 1000%

Media just says things for click bait. I ignore the majority of the statements.

Some are reasonable but others - are way out of control.
