We had 12 first downs in the first half. That is an awesome stat.

Right now we are just focusing on moving chains with the occasional shot down field.

The GSOT under Martz would commonly push it 5-10 yards past the first down marker on every pass play. With the exception of the Faulk dump offs which he could commonly run into explosive plays.

Gurley is not Faulk. No where near the elusiveness in the open field.

We have potential with explosiveness with Tavon and Watkins and a more dynamic TE then the GSOT team did in Everett.

I beleive if the Oline stays healthy you will see a breakout game. A coming home game where we have multiple explosive plays in one game va a poor defense, and that is when you will see what the offense is capable of at its best.

But mcvay works most big plays off play action at least for now.

It's awesome Goff is the youngest starter in the league, and already seems be on a steep trajectory.

It can't be the GSOT 2.0 because they play on natural grass in LA

So we shall name it
BASOG

BAD ASS SHOW ON GRASS

I'm from St Louis, and i will say this. If this 2017 Rams team can come anywhere close to what I saw first hand down at the old Edward Jones Dome aka "The TWA Dome".

It was magical........I remember walking into a 7-11 and seeing the SI cover of Warner and the "Who is this guy" tagline. Amazing.

GSOT was set up over 2/3 years and culminated with the Warner, Faulk, Holt and Martz additions.

Very good point, thjey had drafted well and copped FA's well for 2-3 seasons.

I'm sorry, but nobody can ever be GSOT again. That label should only be the 1999-2003

99-01. 02 and 03 were not the same.

There will never.

Ever.

Be another GSOT.

I know that's right! Iy you could take that team and put it in a time machine and drop it on the field with the new rules etc they would score over 700 points and hang a 70 burger on two teams a year.

True story.

About 15 years ago the whole "grass versus turf" thing for that team intrigued me. So I spent time on and off for a few weeks looking at each game and comparing performance for the team overall and a few key players on offense. Yes they were faster on turf, but so were the opponents too.

Guess what. They were just as good, or very, very slightly better/worse on grass. The difference was minimal across the board, it was a blip here and there.

It made no sense but it was borne out by facts.

Give us 23.7 points per game along with a stout defense(like we've had even before Wade got here) and we're on to something. I'd do cartwheels in a bed of hot coals if our offense could avg that...which is about the middle of the pack these days and good enough to win playoff games if your D is top 10.

I feel I should clarify here. I don't believe the 2017 Rams will be as good as the GSOT.

Obviously, the GSOT was a record-breaking unit that included several Hall of Fame players.

I just think that there are some similarities in how the offense is constrcted and this group appears to have a multitude of diverse weapons to work with.

The post was more about how I am getting a similar feeling to what I experienced when I first became a fan of the Rams in 1999. Granted, there is quite a bit of Kool-Aid drinking going since we're only in pre-season, but I am very optimistic about the offense.

Maybe I should have said GSOT Light or something
Never apologize about drinking the coolaid around here. I get what you are saying and I've got that feeling too. Let's just say the Rams are most likely going to shock some pundits, teams, fans, etc. if their expected (by us) improvement also develops a killer extinct (All gas, No brakes) with players and play calling, there's a high win tote coming up. Let it be so football gods!!!

Get outta here with this got 2.0 why can't this team earn its own name/place in history

Upping this after an impressive and hugely satisfying win in Seattle.

This team has that 1999 vibe all over again. 12-4 would be a hell of a season. More importantly, this team can dominate in all 3 phases of the game. They will be a serious contender once they reach the playoffs.

How good does it feel to realize this Rams team is a Super Bowl contender?????? There's no "we are close", "we are just a couple players short", "we are a year or two away". This is real and this is NOW!!!!!! Damn I'm high on our kick ass team!!!!!!! We can beat anybody, ANYBODY!!!!!!

You, my friend, may be the greatest poster on the planet. I have had a few drinks though... So...... Nope... You're still awesome.

I get this is the easy comparison to make which is why so many people do it, but simply put, there will never be another GSOT. I highly doubt we will ever again see 5 HoFers in their prime on the same offense again (am I correct with 5 or is there another lineman that might make the HoF?).

Easy comparison now but the OP made the comparison in August....
Wow
Well done!
