Which current QB needs team change like Stafford to Rams

Stafford will soon be the picture child from importance of QB being in the right situation to succeed.

Right now, a number of QBs similar to Stafford, including Carr (McDanields as HC) and Cousins (KoD as HC) are 2. Will they now get over the hump?

IMO, there are no others like Stafford out there.

Am I alone in this? Or can another mid level QB become top tier with a change in scenery ( including new coaching).

As to the reason you can’t think of another is simple. There isn’t one out there. A few years ago you could have had a few more like Wentz, Ryan, Tannehill (all three have moved on with Tannehill having success and the verdict is out on Ryan’s move).

IMO the Rams struck while the iron was hot. Grateful they did as I have enjoyed this Super Bowl win as much as the first.

What is interesting about Stafford is "the entire league seemed to agree" he was a victim of circumstance. A QB on a bad team, that's been bad for a while.

I'm not sure there is another QB like that, someone so universally respected as being in a bad spot.

I think Matt Ryan might be the closest in my mind, but not sure if that window has passed for him.

I'm thinking Stafford was never a mid level quarterback. He might not be where Brady, Rogers, Mahomes and Allen are viewed, but he's pretty darn close. I'm pretty happy he's going to be our guy for the next 5 years.

As far as QB's who could be that guy for another team? Ryan is the one who comes closest. A former MVP going to a legit playoff contender. His QB rating has been in the low 90's the past few seasons. Pretty mediocre. I don't know if it was the team, his age(37 nest season) or anything else.

Guys like Brady, Rogers and Brees showed they can play at a high level at their ages. So I suppose Ryan can regain his old form in the right circumstances. Stafford's QB rating the last few years were similar to Ryan's. If I'm a Colts fan I'm looking at what he did for the Rams with some anticipation. They might not get as many years out of Ryan that the Rams will with Stafford. But if they're ever gonna get to the Superbowl, this is their best shot.

David Carr didn’t change teams but the team around him is changing. I’ve always liked Carr but felt like coaching/receivers were lacking. This year is his chance to shine with an offensive minded head coach and offensive weapons (Adams, Waller, Jacobs, Renfrow) to succeed.

David Carr was regarded as one of the biggest draft busts ever. You're talking about his little brother, Derek.

Many people hated on MS during his time in Detroit, stating he could never put the team on his back and get a dub in the playoffs. Usually most teams have some level of competence so if they have a good QB, their team will be good.
The Lions are a different level of idiocy. There's a reason why they always get excited in April than January along with the Jaguars and Washington.

I had Tannehill as comparable in terms of opportunity. That said, I see Tannehill similar to Goff. In the right circumstances, they can excel, but they can't carry a team.

I don’t know why Wilson is largely being ignored in this conversation.

Is it because the Seahawks were mediocre rather than outright terrible?

I suspect that Broncos might now be a serious contender in that difficult division.

I left Wilson out as he is SB winning QB with much more creeds when he left Seattle vs Stafford who never won anything (narrative)

Pro Bowl is not a very strong indicator to a guy's ability. Not often QB's on losing teams make it.
Stafford was in NFL top 100 5 times, which is voted on by the players. I wouldnt base a player's ability on that either, but surely give it more cred than pro-bowls....
