I'm ok with McShay. I just don't think there is a lot to like about this QB class and 2nd best in this class doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. That Brady Quinn love is a hard one to get past though. And Weeden? Yikes!
Fair enough. One thing to keep in mind though, Nussmeier, Allar, Klubnik are the "current" Sellers, Mateer, Sorsby of next year's crew. There's no guarantee next year's class will bear significantly better Pro Quarterbacks than this year's crop. Thats why I'm for fully investigating the clear QB2 of this year. I must say, some of the throws I've seen this kid make are outstanding. The processing and attitude (Coach's Son) all above average. Again, i see Brock Purdy and Bo Nix. But it all remains to be seen of course.

BTW... putting Sanchez above or even in the same class as Matthew Stafford is pretty bad in my eyes. I said back then that I didn't think I had ever seen a more over rated QB coming out of college than Mark Sanchez (another one year guy) and I was a big USC guy back then.
Of course thats fair enough. I dont think that's independent to McShay, was probably the consensus. Lets also not forget, EVERY SINGLE DRAFT ANALYST had Chad Pennington and Giovanni Carmazzi ahead of Tom Freakin Brady.

Yeah. If we pick him, I hope you're right. I'm more on the side of grabbing someone like a Cole Payton or Sawyer Robertson and getting them NFL level coaching and training. That way, we pick up a hopeful difference maker for this season and have a project waiting, working, and learning for when Staff retires. Certainly not necessarily a more valid opinion than those wanting Simpson but I think those two have showed some pretty cool traits. Even Taylen Green could be pretty fun to watch develop. I think both Payton and Green also offer you something with their legs and while I much prefer a pass first QB, that ability to turn it up field is pretty intriguing.

Ha! Yep. Including the guys getting paid by actual teams.

Yes definitely. Putting that 13th pick to actual use as a 2026 impact player is a big advantage versus Drafting Simpson and him having close to zero effect on this season. As I've stated, i do not think we are Drafting Ty if i had to bet. The only way we are is if Sean and Les are head-over-heels in love with him.

Well, when you have someone who is one 16 INVITEES to the Draft itself, and people are tagging him "I'd take him in the 6th Round," I'd call that over-the-top disrespect. But all good. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and might be right. I myself see a scenario where Simpson busts, no doubt.
hahaha, who's said they'd take them in the 6th? Feels like that kinda hyperbole should get you banned for a week

Realistically, you got to figure Simpsons floor is like the first 5 picks Day 2. Could go anywhere from like 10-36 maybe. Although, you never really know. Look at Sanders last year.

Speaking of which, I read that he was offered a green room spot, but he turned it down for his flashy self-promotion purposes. I wonder if that was solely why or if he got some lukewarm responses from NFL teams about being a day 1 pick (didn't seem like it with how he was treating Day 1).

Johnson & Milroe were both invited and went -- and they didn't get picked until 47 and 92, respectively. So invited doesn't perfectly equate to a 1st round selection.
According to Daniel Jeremiah, the entire league thinks ARI will pick him top of 2nd and no seems to want him at a higher price.

Oh it was said. Check page 12. It was said well before that. Also, a bunch of I'd take him in the 4th and 5ths. Anyways, its been hashed out and forgotten. They could be correct anyways and my disrespect claims would be invalid.

Can't take full credit for this though as I was piggybacking on something @Coliseum Ram said:

I think Jimmy is waiting on the ARI starting job. They're not gonna pay Jacoby cause they actually don't want him as a starter. The worst secret in the league is that ARI wants Simpson. But I'm guessing they don't want to spend a 1st on him so they'll wait to see how the 1st round plays out and see if they can get him in the 2nd (maybe they trade 2026 draft capital to get back into 1st but not sure how likely that is). If it doesn't happen, they've told Jimmy the job is his.

One could argue that it's in our best interest that ARI gets Simpson.

Though I wouldn't cry if we could get Brissett as a backup as I think they've got to release him if Jimmy comes on. Question is would he come here.

In that case the Jets 1st pick of the 2nd Round, ahead of Arizona could well be a hot commodity and highly sought after.

Arizona will probably make the equivalent trade the Giants made to get Dart last Draft. Jumping into late 1st Round from early 2nd. I still say Pittsburgh lurks and (dare I say it) Rams as well.

I think part of my point was that ARI wants the kid but maybe not that much and are happy to go with Jimmy. That's why I doubt - though won't rule out - them jumping into 1st round.

I tend to believe Charles Robinson that they are looking for a type of QB in Pitt - an AFC North guy - and so they most likely won't have interest in Simpson.

Again, next year is stacking up to be a historically good QB draft (even this year was only considered "good" before we got into the actual season), I tend to think that teams will only pay for these QBs at a price or to say it another way:

Teams don't want to fill up on appetizers when the entrees coming.

Simpson is another let's build the hype to get someone to waste an early pick. Just opens up another teams draft board if he comes off way to early IMO.
