What are you looking forward to this season with our new look Rams, and what concerns you? Everything else aside it is clear McVay has a vision for his offense that he feels Stafford can accomplish it on the field. Things are likely to change, new wrinkles added, so what do ya say?

For me: I am most looking forward to the spacing on the field I believe Stafford creates. He will certainly force opposing teams to play in coverage more which makes room for Cam. I also believe Stafford will put some fear in the defensive play callers for our opposition.... teams will no longer be able to mindlessly blitz us in obvious passing situations and hopefully not run that damn 0 blitz.

I’m most worried about too much of a good thing. We’ve seen flashes of McVay getting excited and pass happy now hopefully he can grow out of it but I don’t want to get down by 10 and completely abandon our running game and throw the ball 60 times. We have a potent passing attack? Great! Let’s use it to balance our running game and keep our defense off the field while we tire out the other teams not just throw a million times because it’s fun and Stafford is a shiny new toy. Just win.

Possibly the creative plays Stafford is capable of regularly. IE, stepping up in the pocket and his arm strength. 35-38 TDs.

TOs are a concern. I believe he’ll still have 15 plus INTs along with 3-5 fumbles.

His decision making and mental toughness should be entertaining at the least.

I'm looking forward to us getting a deep threat to pair with Stafford's rocket launcher of an arm.
And I think the key word is threat. It doesn’t even matter how often they connect it’s not like we need a bunch of 50 yard tds (though they are fun to watch) we just need someone that is so fast they command respect from opposing defenses. That’s what I was getting at when I mentioned space in my post. Move people from the line of scrimmage and let Cam eat.

orried about the propensity for injuries

Seems pretty reliable to me.

Hard to limit my list to one thing. So I won’t...

Looking forward:

Once again making D’s defend every blade of grass.
Return to a 30-32 ppg O.
A possible 35 TD passing season by Stafford. Maybe more.
Three WR’s each getting 1000+ yards.
Akers exploding both inside and outside.
Winning division and sweeping 49ers in the process.
Another SB appearance, maybe even a win this time.

My concerns are few.

Do we get a decent FA to start at C?
Can this ‘new’ OL keep Stafford upright and healthy?

Good/Focused thread topic.

For me, the excitement is arm talent and pocket awareness. Not just arm strength (although that’s part of it) but the ability to throw accurately off-balance, sidearm and without the benefit of an ideal follow through. Pocket awareness is key, and I am hopeful here. Seemed like half of Goff’s turnovers the prior two years were him just being a fraction of a second late on pocket-decisions.

Worries / Concerns relate to age and the simple fact that Stafford never seemed to raise his team to a winning-playoff-level. Realize he often did not have much talent around him, and I never put everything on a QB’s shoulders. However, I do put more on the shoulders of a Quarterback and Head Coach than anyone else.

I agree with your concern regarding injury. Not that Stafford has missed time just that injury is about the only way I see this offense not being successful next year. I would be genuinely surprised for us to have an offense outside of the top 10 without major injuries. I expect the O-line to be improved in some way through the draft/FA and I expect 2nd year Cam to feast.

For the love of god let the FO be reading this!!!! It's like the oldest adage in the book that the games are won in the trenches we need to shore up the O LINE!!! Which means.....Naturally I am expecting a hybrid developmental TE/WR first pick

I expect lethality. Stafford’s decision making skills in McVay’s offense, complemented by Cam’s running abilities should straight up murder teams. AD and Ramsey locking it down with their mates aught to make this team a hard out against ANYBODY.

I'll let Whitworth answer this question for us. He just did an interview and was asked about his new QB and spoke to the respect Stafford has earned from players across the league...

"For all NFL guys that have been around Matt's career and what he's been able to do, you look at a guy that you think of as just toughness and a chip on his shoulder a little bit to how he plays and competes", Whitworth said. "Has not had the best run with teams there in Detroit and talent around him, I would say, but a guy that there's nobody in this league that doesn't have a lot of respect for that dude - the way he competes, some of the throws he makes and really the style of play he plays with at the QB position. "

I'm not worried or concerned about anything with Stafford. Nothing. That's me talking now not Big Whit.

Every single player can and does get injured... see our beloved AD99 in last year's playoffs as an example. It is going to happen to every player. Matt has proven that he is tough enough to play through injuries that would rule out many players in the past.

He's a Fucking Beast a the QB position. Nothing else to focus on if you're asking me... or Whitworth for that matter.

The only concern I have with Stafford is keeping him healthy. One thing about Goff is the dude is like Gumby, he's taken some crazy shots and always gets back up. Matt is an older QB so that's not gonna be the case with him.

If they keep him healthy though things are gonna be fun in '21. :horns::cool::horns:

Homer.

I'm looking forward to a QB that can read the whole field and revive our deep routes. I'm also looking forward to a lot of, "Fuck yeahs" when we start scoring more.

I'm not looking forward to Stafford having pressure up the middle if we don't figure the center position. Still time to fix that though

Stafford is an exciting qb to watch play. He'll make the game frustrating for opposing defenses. Which will be fun.

I'm am very concerned about keeping him on the field though.
I'm worried that our back up qb will get far more playing time than he should.
Much more in fact.
