I was hoping back when Mike Evans was out there that we would pick him. I felt like he made Manziel who he was in college.

We ended up picking up Greg Robinson (Argh) I was sad but then we got some DT names Donald and I was like why defense pick?

I think we're good at WR. Just need to find some pass protection #1.....
......and call some higher % plays involving the TE's and RB's.

I agree o line is more important but I still dont think out recievers can work against man and press. They make catches in the open field and not against tight coverage .

Not saying I dont like our guys but they are easier to shut down than a physical big body reciever

sure and let’s add an all pro center, a kicker who can make 70 yard field goals and trade Goff for Mahomes.

This is (has) been true but right now i would venture to say that defenses aren't scared of the deep ball because their pass rush is getting home and our playcalling seems to be playing right into that.

When it's 2nd & 10 we try to throw 20 yards downfield to a WR or a WR screen.
When it's 3rd and 8 we try to throw 20 yards downfield to a WR or a WR screen.

Rams are making it easy on LB's these days IMO.

That's why I think Coopper Kupps contract will be a hard one to gauge.
What do you guys see him signing for realistically. It pretty unanimous that we all love him but where it gets tricky is what's his value?
Is he a number one or two? Is he a part of the system type reciever (well when there was a system lol) with a boat load of smarts and intangibles.

I was thinking similar thoughts about the Rams WRs after watching Metcalf and Gordon. Everett and Reynolds don't fit the bill for me. Down the road, the Rams should look for that big fast WRs. Right now I think they are very good at WR if Goff has the time to throw.

We need a good O Line with Cooks healthy, and a smarter Goff...and then we go back to the bowl.

Been thinking this since the superbowl , we need that 1 guy that can make contested catches. Our guys are quick and run great routes but our top 3 guys do not make many contested catches.

Watkins was perfect for this if he wasnt made of glass . He had size , downfield speed and could fight off press coverage

Just a thought , any ideas on this ?

I dont think you need a real #1 receiver at all. Look at the past 10 Super Bowl Champs. Nobody has had the quote unquote #1 receiver, unless you throw Gronk in there who didnt play in 1 or 2 anyway. GB in 2010 might be the closest with Nelson. Jones in Atanta is the only real #1 that even made it to the SB.

I truly believe with McVays offense you dont need a Cooks or #1 type....it would help dont get me wrong but his offense is really designed for good route runners more than speed guys...just my humble opinion.

#1 WR's are typically divas and high maintenance and honestly get paid too much. Give me a bunch of Kupp's, Wood's type guys and our offense will be fine, assuming we block a little lol.

I’m not thinking of trying to replace Cooks at all, but that speed is less of a factor in the red zone. Plus he’s not a big guy. There have been several situations this year where we need a score, a couple with Reynolds come to mind, and we weren’t able to get the td. Near the end of the game you may not get a call the way Reynolds didn’t Sunday, so you need to either be physical enough to make the catch despite the contact or good enough to play through the db to force a call to be made. I don’t think we’ve seen that from him, maybe he doesn’t get enough snaps to really develop I don’t know.
It would be a good tool to have in the toolbox.

I have seen that stats but most of those teams were the Pats or played the pats .
I like our guys , but they and other smaller recievers struggle against press man , and that's what alot of good teams run now

That was kind of my point. Teams that played the Pats still made the Super Bowl. I dont disagree with you please dont get me wrong. If you have Hopkins, Jones, or AB on a rookie deal that is great. I think it has proven you dont need those guys to win or make a SB....shoot we made the SB just last year with the same crew minus Kupp.
