I think as we project the Rams cap, every player is a possible candidate based on team needs and roster balance.
The Rams do seem to have extra jam at WR... so I ”get” the Cooks talk as a possible spot to re-jig... but he’s been an insanely productive player. He’s off pace a little this year, but still on his way to another 1000yd season.
I would like to see more dominance at times with Cooks, but I suspect he’s quite productive off play with some routes that doesn’t show in the stat sheet.
Rams are going to need JRey through the rest of his contract IMO, just in case Cooks misses more time. They don't have draft capital to find young and cheap wideouts, and JRey will get paid 2021 which incidentally is when the Rams will probably cut bait with Cooks.
Sportrac shows a potential out in 2021... I'm guessing the Rams take it.

If there were any way to trade him I would do it. He's a good locker room guy and a good wideout, but is making way too much money with better players needing to be locked up.
Rams IMO are entering the window where they're going to start feeling those picks that got traded away for vets. Shrewd drafting can get them through it, but it might be a bit rocky and moving vets who aren't quite playing up to what they're getting paid is probably going to be a requirement.
