I’ve been as critical as most, just not sure losing him is a plus for the Rams.

Starting to appreciate him a bit more over the last month-plus. And continuity would be nice for a change...if he goes that's three DC's in three years.

Recency bias is hard to overcome. Morris had the right defense for the Cardinals in the first game. But Floyd’s was not 100% and the options on the other side were not containing him either.

They seemed to have the formula against the Niners in the last game. But they lost all three to them.

I’m going to wait and see how Morris does the rest of the way, before making the assumption that he’d be a big loss.

This Rams defense has some weaknesses in the back end for sure but it also boasts a great assemblage of talent too. Not every DC has that going for them.

If I see another dominant performance in Tampa Bay then I’ll start to think he’d be a big loss.

Oddly, I'm feeling the same and I have been one of his most, if not the most, vocal critics on this board. But last night, he was fucking money, and in a game where our defensive backfield was shorthanded. The gameplan and playcalls couldn't have been more perfect, and if he called 'em all like that, I would go from critic to pom-pom waver in a hurry.

If he does go, hopefully McVay has a good backup plan. Call Fangio, and maybe even pick up the phone for Aubrey Pleasant, who I think is ready (thought so last year too).

The assistant coach raiding has been something to see on both sides of the ball.4

On that alone, for the Rams to continue making playoffs and winning divisions is a real accomplishment lost during a season that goes week to week.

I'd let him go. I'm luke-warm on Morris. He was winning me over towards the end of the year with the defence's much improved play... but then proved against the 49ers in the last game of the season, for the 100th time, that he cannot defend the methodical type offenses that want to dink and dunk in the short to intermediate range. He has the rest of the playoffs to win me over. But Kyler Murray type offenses were never the type the Rams had to improve against, as good as last night's showing was. Let's see how the Rams do vs. Tampa Bay, GB, and/or San Francisco...

I am not sure turnover - yet again! - is a good thing. But Morris is not a good enough DC that I'd want to block someone from a promotion. Good organisations that want to continue attracting top-end talent will celebrate the success of their own, even if it leads to better opportunities elsewhere.

It's unreal how many coaching assistants the Rams have lost yet remained competitive year after year.

Interviews and interview requests should not be allowed until the off-season, IMO.

I’m indifferent; however, I hate when coaches in the playoffs interview during that time. I’d rather not pull focus from the next opponent to prepare yourself to interview

Our defense is good because of the players. Not the coach. It's obvious, every year they start our slow and eventually turn it on at the end of the season. I'd let Morris walk, but I'd also block all interviews until the season is over. These guys need to have their heads on the games in front of them.

I honestly think there should be some type of compensation for teams who get their coordinators ripped from them every single freaking year. I'm not the biggest Morris guy, but last nights defensive performance was utterly amazing, as was the first half against the whiners. I need to see it 3 more times to really determine how good he is ;)

IMO, it would be a major update if we could get Fangio to replace him, although, I would assume he will get some head coaching offers and take them. I'd offer him the most money for a D Coordinator in the league, I think with him our defense will be in the best hands in the league.

Would mean we get a comp pick for him - so that would be good. But, I'd rather have him back.

It's about fucking time. Morris deserves some interviews man. He's potentially a slam dunk HC hire IMO. The guy has a really nice mix of experience on both sides of the ball plus great leadership. The players respond to him.

I suspect he'll hire a good staff second time around and make the most of the opportunity. And we can add a better DC. Win win. Hopefully the Vikes interview him this week and make a quick hire so McVay can make his move to line up the replacement.

If you've seen this defense all year, to expect the the even rival last year was reaching anyway because of the drop off at LB.

I think Miller getting comfortable as well as Floyd getting healthy is paying off.

Morris getting an interview at this point, is just checking a box to interview a minority. I don't think Morris is quite ready for the next step...but I could be wrong.

The great thing is what we saw the defense do last night. If they can stay on that level the Rams could be home for the SuperBowl!!!!

First team we run into that can handle our defensive front that will come to a quick end. :laugh2:
This is my concern as well. Full credit to Morris. He called a great game with a very undermanned secondary. But that performance was, more than anything, due to our front 7 just being too much for the Cardinals to handle, independent of scheme.
