The "short" routes are designs to "scrape" a defender off and allow the free receiver to run. And it all depends on the execution. Our receivers (wide outs) didn't have a good day today. Drops, non clear outs and over all failure to complete their assignments was depressing. Luckily Gurley offset much w/ his performance. A few more times (to Gurley instead of where he did go.....) and I think we would have won that game.There's still some issues of the past, I guess it's not all on Fisher. Penalties and running/throwing routes short of the sticks on 3rd down.
