The constant comparison and complaint that the 64-72 Deacon, Merlin, Roman's are "too close" to the Colts uniforms is a lazy criticism, in my humble opinion.

Only so many primary colors that are top tier to go around. Teams are gonna have the same colors.

The 64-72's look great, always have, and I NEVER think of the Colts when I see them.

People HEAR it, then PARROT it.
Thanks I agree totally. But I used, ah, different words on X the other day at the dumb comparison. But that cesspool isn't real life so it never happened!

And you can also make the argument that the Blue version of the Fearsome Foursome's is WAY more identical to Dallas Cowboys Blue jersey than any Colts comparison, White OR Blue.

I swear, you guys care about the Rams' uniforms more than I care about fashion - and I love my fashion. :laugh4::laugh2::laugh1:
Isn't that somewhat the same thing? Here is what I love about fashion, you can look regal in the classics, you do not even need dynamic colors, classic black & white can transform you just like tomato red or royal purple of today. I feel the same way about uniforms, if done right, the classics can still look majestic and I am glad the Rams went back to the future.

When the Rams wore the white and navy uniforms, wasn’t color a moot point considering most households had black and white television?

To my knowledge, the Rams wore these uniforms specifically because they looked good on black and white tv.

Yeah pretty close except for the cowboy's custom serifed athletic number font. I always liked these vintage dark jerseys. Simple was fine. Emphasis was kept on the helmets. Too bad Jerruh f*d their jerseys up later.

Southern California heat also factored in. Let the visiting team sweat it out!!

It was actually Tex Schramm, or whoever the Cowboys Owner was in '81 who deleted these beauties cause he thought they were jinxed.

Actually the reason they went to the blue & whites was because it looked better on the black & white TV's whereas the Yellow was faded.

Schramm was the Cowboys' long-time GM. Before Dallas, I believe he was in the Rams front office for years.

I also think Dallas has only had three owners since it came into the NFL (1960 or 1961).
Clint Murchison was the original owner and held the team for around 25 years, with Jerry Jones being around since the late-'80s. In between, I believe the owner was Bum Bright ... Bum was a nickname ... I hope.

Umm, I think you just said the same thing, haha.

Also, from what I understand, the shift to blue and yellow was in large part due to the introduction of color TV's, for the exact same reason. They popped.....and they certainly hooked me as a kiddo.

Just looked it up, it was Murchison.

Schramm was the gay boy that changed the jerseys. Cowboys should have manned up and kept playing in them until they had some success wearing them. Hell, they shut us out 28-0 in the 1978 NFC Championship Game wearing them. Their only playoff victory in the jinxed Blue.

Went from a beautiful color Jersey to an awful color jersey, IMHO.

Dunno if this has been said but our blue and white is way bolder and sharper than the Colts'. I was worried about resembling them at first but once I saw the look, I was settled.
