Only $14m guaranteed. Not much for the 2019 NFL Defensive POY.
Yep. The Colts added McCleod at Safety. They are making a few moves. Not sure Ryan will lead them to the play offs but he gets Houston and Jacksonville twice this year so he’s got that going for him.

I'm completely fine missing on Gilmore. Go get Mathieu. He's a better get IMO.

It would have been nice but ultimately Rochelle is who they want starting opposite Ramsey. Gilmore would have been a nice luxury to have though. Maybe they can pick up Mathieu and then spend one of our earlier picks on a CB and be set.

Personally I am pretty happy the Rams didn’t waste a big contract on a player who will turn 33 years old early this season and has been injured the last 2 years. He is not the player he was 3-4 years ago.

Go get Mathieu!!

Other teams have more money than us to offer. Cant blame guys for taking the loot. Robert Rochell, you're up...

Gilmore can still play at a very high level. His health is a concern. I would have really liked him in LA at the right price point. For a second it seemed like that might have been feasible. But I would not have wanted to spend even what the Colts did. Glad another talent heads to the AFC.

In my opinion, Jordan Rodrigue is more clued-in to the Rams' Strategy than anyone else out there.

She posted the following comments shortly after the Gilmore-signing came-out:
Couple things on Gilmore from Rams’ perspective -
Yes, they were interested and had dialogue w him through offseason. My sense was there wasn’t going to be a lot of $ offered there
and it would be stunning if they signed anybody else pre-draft as it is, bc of comp pick formula.

This doesn’t rule out their exploration of/interest in others! All written about here this week! And, I still think they’re looking at what’s possible/will explore what’s possible w open timeline at pass rusher.

After the expected Donald and Kupp extensions, the Rams could have significant cap space for 2022.
I don't know that there will be many big-ticket free agents available but there may be trade options.

And the Rams like to make trades.

Wonder if James Bradberry comes to mind. I'm sure the people banging the table (no not sexually) for Hunter will come out again

Don't agree. The draft starts two weeks from yesterday. So it's two week from today that the Rams will be on the clock. Unless there is a tsunami of action (and has there ever been in the 2 weeks leading up to the draft?), there should be a number of "big ticket" free agents available after the draft.

As of today, here are some big ticket free agents who are still available.
Matthieu, Clowney, OBJ**, Ingram, Landry, Hughes, Hicks
Flowers, Fuller, Fisher, Julio, Callahan, Barr, Houston, Melvin Gordon
Hightower, Richardson, King, Ogunjobi, Hightower, Reiff

and a bunch of others who aren't so "big ticket"

Terrell Edmonds, Jackrabbit Jenkins, Joe Haden, Kyle Fuller, etc.

Do we think the majority of those guys are going to be signed by the draft? I don't.

Here's the full list from 6 hours ago

Some of those guys want money, some guys want to win, some want both. The Rams are in a unique situation......they're like Disney or Hawaii......we don't have to go overboard enticing you to come because everybody wants to come here anyway.

**Already in agreement with the Rams but hasn't been released to the media yet!!!! :sunglasses:

I have mentioned Bradberry several times in other posts on this Forum.

The Rams and Giants each currently have about $7M of cap space. It's good for the Rams. It ain't good for NY.

With no pick until #104 overall, the Rams will need only $2M to sign their draft-class.

With five picks in the top-81, the NY Giants will need more than $16M to sign their draft-class.

How Dare You! That's it, YOU are OFF my Christmas Card List!

Seriously, we agree that most of the players above will NOT sign before the Draft. That was not my point. Where we disagree is what players constitute Big-Ticket free agents.

Outside of OBJ, Mathieu, Clowney and Landry, I don't view any of those players as "Big-Ticket".

OBJ is unique because of his injury-status ... even more unique for the Rams, in my opinion.

Tyrann Mathieu is the most interesting because of his playing-style and personality.

Not a Jadeveon Clowney fan (great talent / good player, with flashes of greatness).

Think a lot of Jarvis Landry but do not see him as relevant for the Rams in 2022.

Now about that Christmas-Card-List. I have re-considered; and will simply put you on probation.

I felt Gilmore was the less likely of the two of him and Mathieu.

I can really understand the Mathieu interest after seeing what Weddle did for the D last year. We'll see. Has been a pretty wild offseason already.

Not worried we missed on Gilmore I’m still firmly in the Clowney camp. His sack totals may not be off the charts but they are solid and the dude is a menace against the run. I really think Clowney could reach his “potential” playing with AD.
