I just had a crazy thought. And probably way off base. What if Akers openly bitched about the poor blocking in the locker room and pissed off the linemen? Like I said, probably way off base. Or is it?
This makes complete sense. McVay loves Akers. Maybe too much IMO. Of all the scenarios, this seems the most plausible. Akers did something McVay is struggling to fix.

The Lions' have quite the capable running back room with Swift, Williams, and Reynolds. I am not so sure they will want or need Cam Akers. Akers, at least based on what he has shown recently, is a downgrade on any of those players. A huge downgrade, in the case of Swift and Williams. Re: Reynolds, the two play very different roles, and Reynolds plays the pass-catching RB role at a far superior level.

My post was just to offer an alternative to the many others which seem to be keying on top names who will be far more costly. I suggested Reynolds because both he and Williams are entering free agency soon, and of course, our connection with Brad Holmes. Reynolds is a well traveled UDFA (3 teams in 4 years) and has only had 77 offensive snaps this year and plays special teams, in his limited role he's looked pretty good. Akers can provide a bit more security for Detroit as he doesn't enter free agency until after the 2023 season. As far as trade value, neither Akers or Reynolds has a great deal, although it might lean in Akers favor due to his being a 2'nd round pick as opposed to Reynolds UDFA, that's why I threw in the 6'th round pick from Detroit, to potentially balance things out, but perhaps a 7'th or an even swap makes it work, ... like everyone else here I'm just trying to formulate a fairly reasonable option.

I don't want Quinn as bad as I used too....I will take him if it costs less in trade value but I remembered what he said about LA and didn't seem to be a fan of mcvays didn't seem to take him seriously almost. Having said that people grow people change Chicago is hell in many ways so who knows.

As far as his play we do need to remember he had Mack some of last year and Hicks but rt now at his age he is basically alone like alone on like on revis island alone.
His pressures are probably still better than our teams without ADs lol. I do think he would be much better here the question is does he truly dislike LA and possibly Mcvay or was it all just him being in his feelings.

Quinn makes no sense he's not a good fit in a 3-4 and like you said he's just not doing anything for how much he costs in salary. I know everybody says get him to magically do a restructure and take less money but sorry this might be his last contract don't see that happening.
Yeah I don't trust him.

Rams are at a bit of a crossroads here. This is not the team you just need to add a piece to. This is the team that requires quite a few pieces which feels like an offseason reload. So for this season I would hold on to my highest picks and plan on using them.

It's like the Rams being in on CMC. Well yes he would help us and this offense is made for a player like him. But this team is fundamentally flawed and he's got very high injury risk to him.

I love watching CMC play. But with his injuries I don't want him on the Rams or my fantasy team "Aaron Donald Fight Club" :D

Do we really want to add a RB with his injury history to a team that has the bad luck that we do with RB? I say it's playing with fire but who knows maybe that would help fix him and keep him healthy but in my mind it's not worth the risk.

It appears that most of ROD still thinks this Ram team is still close to what won the SB last year....my position is this team is in a steady decline into mediocrity as it stands today.

The only units that are holding up are @ ILB'er & TE. Snead has 4 picks in the 2023 draft 2nd 3rd & 6th & 7th.

There is no legit reason to utilize any future picks in order to bring them back to life & save a non-compietive dying 2022 season. It will not save anything!

The fact is this team requires a large number of new talented players to return this team to compete for a wild card spot in the future.

My thoughts are the Rams should be considering trading away players who can bring future young talent to rebuild many of this Ram team's degraded units.

Actually, we have 6 draft picks scheduled for next year, a 2'd, 3'rd, three 6's & a 7'th. Then there's the potential for 4 compensatory picks.
As things stand today, the only top flight player I'd consider moving on from next season is Leonard Floyd, and the savings wouldn't amount to much due to dead money. Stafford, Donald, Kupp & Ramsey remain as our expensive headliners. One of Greg Gaines or A'Shawn Robinson is likely lost to free agency, the only other really important re-sign in my book is Matt Gay, any other potential free agents we want to hang onto are probably fairly low cost to retain. While the Rams may not be a Super Bowl contender this or next year, we can still get to the play-offs so long as we produce a strong draft and manage to stay healthy. jmo.

Painful but truthful. The Rams are going to need a solid miracle to become SB contenders.

They have to get the O Line fixed which won't be easy. Getting Brian Allen back could help some. They need to get Van Jefferson back and a healthy OBJ. They need another good pass rusher. Another RB with no Akers. Get healthy at DB.

As you stated they may be better off saving the little draft capital they have left. I'm sure Snead and McVay will keep trying. I think a solid offensive lineman and a pass rusher are the top priorities. OBJ would be a money move.

So the theory is that the Rams have a trade in the works for CMC but, in the meantime, they’re going to try to pummel him into the turf this afternoon?

Okay….

Actually, I believe your site is showing correctly, but you may just be reading it wrong. Those three 6's are 1) our own, 2) one from Green Bay, and 3) one from the Titans. jmo.

When I saw HC McVay go into the season with only 8 OL'ers down from last season, plus the fact that #71 was considered their star reserve OL'er:hellno:, I knew we were in serious trouble.

That's fully on McVay & Carberry!.No longer sure that Carberry is the right guy here & I also am nowhere as high on our HC as I was several years ago.

Only way I am giving up on the season is if Stafford goes out for the year...
I think you and I may be the only ones who still have faith in and (speaking for myself) still love Stafford.
