Really good trade for us. We get a proven corner for some picks. He can cover and is a violent tackler. Good blitzer too. 1st step in putting the secondary together for this season. Lake and McDuffie are the first pieces put in place. Snead will draft another corner or two in a deep class.

The last two drafts we stepped away from trades in the 1st round because we were either outbid or the price they asked for was too high.

This is just not accurate.
No way to know for sure but I always thought they're inquiries were to appease the coach.

McVay: I gotta gotta have this guy!

Rest of brain trust: OK we'll look into it, but we're gonna be disciplined on how much we're willing to give up.

Once they hear the price, they hang up.

Hahaha, I'm sure there's an element of this!

Much has been said about McDuffie playing mostly in the slot. However, that is not accurate.

Here is where he has lined up since being drafted.

2025: 479 wide snaps, 179 slot
2024: 953 wide snaps, 152 slot
2023: 368 wide snaps, 608 slot
2022: 536 wide snaps, 247 slot

He only played the majority of snaps in the slot for one year, but he's excelled in coverage and run support every year.

He's truly multidimensional.

Haha does he return punts too? He wouldn’t have saved X from not knowing how to catch at the worst time lol.
We lost close games so one pass defense would have changed the outcomes.
And what if he had played ST and had tackled the returner on that play?

I have a suspicion McVay has fallen for Sadiq after that stellar combine.
Perhaps.....but.....
They have never really focused on combine numbers.
McVay and Snead don't even go to the combine. They seem to find value (Kupp, Puka etc) in guys that some non stellar workout numbers but are hard working, smart players.
It will be interesting to see how high he goes....my fear is SF.

Speaking of SF, saw an article speculating if the whiners will move on from Trent Williams and Fred Warner due to salary considerations

Imo, they could have just signed a top CB in free agency and kept the picks. There are some good ones out there.
YEAH GREAT!!!

How many FA’s are there ? You don’t think The Rams have a PLAN at all ??

You can do anything you want, doesn’t make it right.

Sort of PISSES ME off some of these post like mine just to post.

The Truth is you have to look at The BIG PICTURE!! The Truth is even more clear after reading post & seeing The Rams make this TRADE!! IMO you should go back & look at what Mcvay said. Then follow that with Les Sneads video as well.

As I started to post this it all came together??

ANYONE ELSE CONNECT The DOTS ?
Funny all our different views. I’m with family members across the country.Still I have long time friends I never see,but feel my friendship & the person I am doesn’t change that much of how I enjoy life & the past.

I don’t know Trent McDuffie & actually much about him until he just signed. My GF hates KC,but I could trace back other times & my LIFE.Know people I didn’t follow people on Facebook.I can connect people & life & how funny LIFE EVOLVES & what actually how small of a World it is.

Now with AI & the advancements. It is easy to see how let’s say (blank-me) could be eliminated in a moment without much recourse. It could be a decision of 1 man ? I’ll keep faith, but also know I can relate like a weave of what this signing means quickly or long “ Lee. lol

Saint John Boscohas a lot of POWER in SO Cal with Faith,Families,Education & Sports.

I’d say as Q” Lake what his thoughts are about McDuffie & The games & competition they have had over The Years.
—Freaking Funny you can ask those guys about The Lakers & there thoughts about KOBE BRYANT since there are SO many Cobies,Colby,Kobie. What his retirement was like & if he was an influence of them growing up.

Then you look at The Rams other Lake & see where McDuffie went to college? Who is going to be The Rams CB coach.Where does Trent want to play. What he thinks about Mater Dei & UCLA.? Who his favorite team growing up with before The Rams came into town & that influence entering into HS?

Now what I'm curious about now is how this shapes the rest of the FA period and what we do with the 13th pick.
This trade gives us so many options now.
However, if he does sign a long term deal at a projected 30M a year, that does change things for free agency/CAP depending on the type of deal signed.
There are a lot of good football players who just sphinctered up. The Rams will not be able to afford all of those extensions in the next two years. At least one person just lost a job.

I’d let him play the final year and see how it works out. We can tag him next year if it comes to that but save the money this year to spend on other free agents to make sure we do everything we can to win this year.

The deal is contingent on us signing him to a long term deal. Otherwise, why would you give up so much? He has already proved he is an all-pro CB in the NFL more than once. And if you go back and look at the Chief`s SB win over the Whines, he accounted for 3 big plays. He is a baller on the level of JR (Jalen Ramsey), but without the personality conflicts.
