It makes sense to go back to Georgia and close to North Carolina. Wonder if Snead was contacted by the Falcons for information. He has made draft trades with his old team and they have a great relationship. Would like to see the contract. I think the Falcons get their money's worth at $5M and maybe more.

Do we get a comp pick for releasing him? I don't think we do, just asking.

And I keep on asking myself why we couldnt reach a deal on trading him. Isn't something better than nothing? We got stuck with dead money anyways so trading him and at least getting SOMETHING in return seems like a better return on investment than nothing.

I felt more emotional about SJAX leaving the Rams, because the guy gave his heart and soul to the team. After last year, I can't say that about Gurley. If he was a cancer, then I'm glad he's gone. I know this is supposed to be a touchy-feely thread for Todd, but right now I am wondering what we have in Darryl Richardson.

Nope.

If they could have traded him they would have.

less than 24 hours later he signs and heads back to the state of Georgia where he played his college ball. I will still be a fan from afar

Yesterday I said he would sign for 5mil in 24 hours. Time to play the lottery

Of all the places I didn't want to see him at, Atlanta was not one of those spots. Hope he does well...but not well enough where we regret it :D

That should actually help us financially He was going to count appx 11 mil this year and 8 next year. Depending on the contract we should get some cap relief from him signing elsewhere just not sure of the total numbers

Wonder if there are any offsets in Gurleys rams contract, where the Rams would get some salary cap relief from his new 5 million contract with the Falcons.
Yes, up to 2.5-Mil for Gurley. And, 2-Mil for Matthews if he signs for amount of 2-Mil or more.

If they could have traded him they would have.
No .... Comp picks are for when you lose a player as a Free agent to another team. In a trade, you have agreed to receive something back as compensation; you don't get both.
