I don't like him... He runs funny. Something odd about him. He runs like a duck... duck-footed. The opposite of pigeon toed. He looks like he is on roller skates or something.

Well if the Rams don't like his blocking then they'll probably go with a different option. Taylor for example who has been slotted in our range. Or maybe Loveland if he doesn't smoke the workout. There's a ton of ways they can go. Fannin just seems to have McVay written all over him though I'd imagine there will be other WCO teams who like him as well.
I'm simply putting the cards on the table. You know very well if I didn't put it out there you'd see people calling out his blocking. As I said the building blocks for him are there in blocking and I am very much in the draft Fannin Jr club. I think Taylor, Helm, Arroyo (pending medicals), Ferguson (who I also like a lot) and Briningstool would all be good options.

If blocking is a priority I doubt they want Loveland, Fanin, or Arroyo

Totally agree and he looks like he has average written all over him.

What's interesting is that we probably could use both a big slot and a succession plan for Higbee at inline TE so I doubt many guys will be off the table but yeah, how Rams view any of these guys blocking ability or desire to get better there will probably be key.

He does. He is duck footed. Now I’m no expert, and I’m not trying to be funny but I feel like being duck footed would/could negatively affect your change of direction.

Versus an athlete who is pigeon toed, or normal toed(?)

Where are the sports scientists when you need em…

I want him 10 times more now thank you.

Yeah, fast guys are pigeon-toed. Deion was famously pigeon-toed. My son was as a kid and I remember the doctor telling my wife that he is probably fast... and yeah he was. Was a heck of CF in HS & college.

Anyway, nothing against him personally, I just dont see him excelling against the best of the best despite his good performances against Penn St etc...

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but it's funny you acknowledge he did great against big schools yet say he won't do good against the best in spite of doing it every chance he got. Then he goes to the Senior Bowl and by all accounts excelled even having the longest catch of the game

Yep no prob. I just responded because I keep hearing how he doesn't block well but what matters to me is effort and also there are plays where I don't know what his responsibility is nor if the coaching staff is telling him "hey go easy here you're on the backside of this play." Because the dude was a huge part of their offense, i.e. if he were to get hurt they'd be fucked. And that's the type of things the Rams would know from talking to their staff as well as Fannin himself.

But either way when it comes to a class like this and the fact that multiple options should be slotted where the Rams can move up a little or down a little and take them, it means any little thing may cause the Rams to take the other guy. So that's not to say Fannin is the guy the Rams love, though I suspect he's very high on their list.

Re: him running strange, I have to agree he's not the smoothest in the pattern and it's not just his gait but also he isn't exacting in his routes. But the dude produced high volume to include vs good opponents. And high volume is something that indicates he's doing a lot of shit right. It's like a top of the pyramid type indicator and was something Kupp also showed. It's also, btw, why I like Warren so much even though I know he will probably be on the slow end for this group.

I think I'd steer clear of Arroyo in this class. Though if McVay takes him I will say as long as he's healthy he would be a beast in this system because he's so smooth and athletic. But if he gets good medical he'll probably run well enough to jump some of these guys and may end up being TE1 or TE2. I mean everyone's all over Warren's nuts but in a group like this the 40 and cone probably will help sort them.

A lot of draft busts or medicore NFL players have big games in college against big schools. It's not uncommon.

I will add that if Stafford is traded and if we are in for Garrapolo and then a young QB taking over in the next 2-3 yrs, TE will be a priority this year as it will be needed for our upcoming QB situation.

Taylor is my guy because he’s one of the fastest (Fannin is projected to run faster) and he has all the tools. His pedigree alone should prepare him to be coached and be/act like a pro.
Speaking of “pro” I think he’ll be more apt to take to the pro game.

I know, i know, there’s winslow jr. I have more faith in Taylor.

I would be happy with Taylor at 26. Assuming his workout is not bad.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago. It would seem logical to think it would affect his change of direction skills. But, Fanin did still play well in college despite the Duck feet. Maybe the combine separates him one way or the other.

What I have noticed and remembered about playing sports is that those people with that bounce in their Achilles, their heels not easily hitting the floor, tend to be fast runners.

Now, at my advanced age, I ask people with that giddy up, and they check the box.

Rams love them some 3 cone drill with their pass catchers, will be curious to see how these TE's net out there.
