I just pinned it so it gets used more oftenIt's in the Off Topic forum.
That's cool my hate for him would certainly fade. Still would have to wash the whiner stink off which could take several years with 2 daily applications.I've been seeing "rumors" that Purdy could be shipped to the Giants or Steelers. I wonder if there's any truth to these articles?
Both articles said a trade would mean the whiners are in complete rebuild mode.
I hate everything associated with the 69ers. But the 69 stink would wash off Purdy pretty quickly for me if he’s traded. His story is inspiring and his character is admirable.I've been seeing "rumors" that Purdy could be shipped to the Giants or Steelers. I wonder if there's any truth to these articles?

Puka on Julian Edelman's podcast said he thought the shitters window could still be open if Purdy takes a lesser team friendly deal in somewhere in the mid 40 mil area. He thought the window would no longer be open if he signed for 50 mil plus.
I got news for him. The window is closing fast even with a cheaper deal. Next year the top 3 guys cap hit is over 100 mil. In 2027 the top 4 guys will be 130 mil. That is without a new deal for Purdy. Their dead cap hit for this year is a league high 80 million.
McCaffrey's heavy use came at a price. He's not longer an elite running back with the achilles issues. And his position has a short shelf life. A 29 year old running back is like a 33-34 year old receiver or DB.
Trent Williams is injury prone. Sometimes doesn't seem to be interested in football. Will probably find a reason to hold out during camp.
Aiyuk was not good before the injury. Odds of him being the 2023 guy again are slim. That was a pretty brutal injury. Both ACL and MCL. And he probably won't be available till November. If they move on from Aiyuk after this season his dead cap hit will be 55 million next year.
They showed how good they are when things around Purdy are not optimal. And things likely won't be optimal this season. And will get worse next season.
The Niners would have to have an incredible draft this year if they are to compete for a Super Bowl. It would have to be better than the Rams last two drafts combined. I don’t think it’s possible to replace all of the players they lost with similarly talented players and three of the stars that you mentioned being injured.Puka on Julian Edelman's podcast said he thought the shitters window could still be open if Purdy takes a lesser team friendly deal in somewhere in the mid 40 mil area. Sounded to me like he was giving an opinion. Team friendly deal and the window is still open. Break the bank and it closes. Personally I disagree with him on that one. I think the window is closing fast with or without a huge deal for Purdy. Why is Puka even commenting? That seems odd. Shouldn’t he be supporting guys getting paid.
I don’t think you are crazy. If I was the Niners I’d definitely see what kind of trade offers I could get. They’ve lost enough players to be in a sort of rebuild already. If they successfully traded Purdy they might be enticed to trade some others and go full on rebuild. Stockpiling 2026 draft picks would be a good way to go.I think they should try to trade Purdy for a first, maybe N.O., Pittsburg or Cleveland at 33 would be interested. Sign Rodgers to a two year deal and have two high picks. Pick a developmental qb with a later pick. Maybe I’m crazy but I’d sell Purdy if the market is there.
Yeah, an above average quarterback is gonna get paid. There aren't enough above average quarterbacks to go around. But like you said, paying them makes it much harder to build a quality team around them. And they aren't elite so they can't carry a team like an elite quarterback can when things are less than optimal. There really should be something in place to limit the damage that paying a quarterback does to a team's cap space. The 18 percent you mentioned would be around 50 mil. That would not cripple a team's cap space as much as 60 mil. I'd even go so far as advocating for a 15 percent limit.Face it. Every team is fucked by a successful QB on their second contract. If they are truly top 5 the $$ is arguably worth it. If they are above average to good they are likely overpaid and cripple a teams ability to strengthen players around the QB. I’d like to see a cap rule where no single player can constitute more than 18% of a teams cap for a year. Call it the Deshaun Watson rule.

Either way, Shanahan has had success with lesser QBs. He could probably build an offense with Shaddeur, or like you said, sign Rodgers for a year or two. Then he could draft a QB next year.
