Thanks for posting. Someone else had commented that the hold happened before the return, this pretty much confirms it. The Rams mug the Charger guy right at the snap, and the ref throws the flag before the ball is even caught. I'm still bitter but at least it wasn't a total fabrication.
They got him all day vs the Broncos and again last week. I don't understand it at all.
Yeah i see that. More like a quick grab, spin and release. It looks like a penalty, however like i said in another thread, it occurred slightly behind the ball carrier(Tavon) and away from the action, it had no bearing on the play. Thats what i mean by these refs needing to get back to understanding the situations that require a no-call.
Now if there's a personal foul or something of that nature that occurs far and away from the play, then by all means throw the flag regardless of whether or not it impacts the action.

Yep. I see it now. Watch the ref and then pause when he pulls out the flag. McFadden was grabbing.

If it's keeping coverage guys from getting down the field then an argument that it effects the play is easy to make. He wrapped him up right at the LOS...........that was an easy call.
Guys, watch #51 at the LOS, there is a hold, slight but still a hold. But that was not flagged. Try and follow 51 as he runs down the field, at about the 30 he tries to get back in front of his assigned player. It appears he holds there in an attempt to get in front of him. That is when the flag starts to come out. So the hold occurs at about the 30. Add ten yards for the penalty and place the ball at the 40. Ultimately, that is what occurred. We only saw the little love tap that occurred at the 40 on the TV replay. Of course I didn't see anything since I was yelling from the stands "He's got room to run!". My eyes were on #11.
After this angle and a bunch of pause and rewinds, I do feel the ref made the correct call.
Rams and Gators, thanks for posting this video. Stuff like this really helps to calm the nerves. Well, this and some scotch...on the rocks...unless it's the really good stuff.
