Since he is one of the most under-mentioned players on this board, let's show the man some love. He may not be punting 9-10 times a game anymore like he used to, but when he is needed he comes thru in a big way, as he always has.

5 punts on MNF 5 inside the 10
Longest 63 yards

44.2 avg.

When all is said and done, (as I kept saying all those years) Hekker was the best and most consistent player the Rams had during the fisher era. He actually won a couple games with both his arm and legs. The Rams actually beat the 9ers and seahawks in ‘12 without scoring an offensive TD! The closest was a fake FG toss from Hekker.

Simply the best I’ve ever seen.

There is no doubt Hekker is the best Punter in Ram history and you could make the debate with his ability to throw the football, the best punter ever. Ray Guy was truly the greatest and an excellent athlete too, but he couldn't throw the ball like the true Johnny Football.

He kicked Ass! It's like they say you don't realize how important a good kicker and punter is, to your team, until you don't have one and we don't have a good kicker. Why was Forbath not active for this game, it's not like your kicker needs time to learn the playbook.

Think he had to wait a week because of COVID restrictions.

Did anyone notice that the Chicago Bears barely rushed the kicker on the field goal that Sloman did make.

I believe that they were holding back because they were worried Hecker was going to do a fake field goal attempt.

I think Sloman's kick would have been blocked on that attempt if Chicago had rushed the kicker because that kick seemed low to me as well.

So Sloman can thank Hekker for the one field goal he did make.

I’m a firm believer that Johnny Hekker is the GOAT punter of all time. Even with a down season last year where he’s still top 10 he’s better than most.

I’m sure Ray Guy was damned good and did things no others did at the time but outside of nostalgia of knowing him in younger years he doesn’t touch Hekker as far as career or best seasons goes.
