What kinda bugs me is all this railing on the Ram defense, when the Seahawk defense was supposed to be better.

-The Rams passed for 367 yards...Seattle 321

- The Rushed for 114 yards...Seattle 75

-Total yards Rams 479...Seattle 396

-Total sacks Rams 3 Seattle 1

So who's defense was better for the game? The fact is if Smith doesn't fumble that punt, we may be talking preparing for The Pats.

This in no way doesn't mean the Ram defense can't be better...and there's no doubt they'll be addressing that, BUT THE RAM DEFENSE PLAYED BETTER THAN SEATTLE's!!!

I agree

I was impressed the D was as good as it turned out to be..... And in many instances the offense didn't always put the defense in a good position.

Or if McVay went for field goals we would have won 33-31.... Or if converted TD's 41-31.

True. But it didn't play well. So the talk to improve it is justified.
Also these things are relative. Rams had the league's best offense. Seattle's offense is very good, but it's not in our class when Stafford is on. And he was on.

And one does not excuse the other. I want to improve the defense. And I also want to improve the offense. I want that X for outside the hash and posts and shit to stretch the field and kill teams in 4 minute. The offense just needs a lot less TLC than the defense.

The Rams ran and passed all over the field against Seattle and were unstoppable except on third down. As has been mentioned here... 1 of 8 on third down. Seattle's defense was very good in that regard. Their offense was 7 of 13, which means our defense could not stop them for the most part. That showed up in the TOP as the shitbirds held the ball for 4 more minutes. The two teams were very well matched and provided great games this year, but the Rams will certainly improve on defense and hopefully kick their asses next year.

I kept yelling to blitz Darnold on 3rd and long. Each time they made it, the Rams didn't blitz. The times they did blitz(twice I think). Seattle didn't make the first down.

I look for the Rams to improve at the CB position which is a must. Also add another play maker in the WR room along with some improvements on special teams.

New England did exactly what I thought they'd do against Darnold - show a bunch of different looks to confuse the OL and QB and they pretty much held him in check. I get it that our corners aren't the best. You can't expect them to cover a man for four seconds yet that's what Shula did vs Seattle by only bringing four on most occasions. Are they good enough to cover for 2-2.5 seconds? Probably. That's why Shula needed to make adjustments when our defense was making Sam Darnold (or Bryce Young, Mac Jones, etc.) look like Tom Brady back there. I'm tired of this bend but don't break shit. There were times when New England had 8 guys on the LOS. You don't think that messes with an OL and QB's head? The Rams seemed to only rush four almost all the time vs Seattle and sat back in zone allowing Darnold to pick us apart the last two games. You can blame special teams and McVay's' play calling all you want but I feel that it was our defense that let us down the last part of the season. I'd really like to see Jim Schwartz come onboard but I'm sure he's not close enough friends with McVay to allow that to happen.

Secondary should get an overhaul in the Off season. Draft and free agency. Expect changes there. I'd love to see changes at LB too. Landman and Speights need to see competition in camp.

I don't see that happening, but I do see the ST's getting an over-haul.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with our defense for next season.

In McVay's last presser he eluted to looking at defensive philosophies this offseason to see if there is anything there. A kind of vague statement but I think and hope they look at their bend don't break style of defense and make their adjustments with scheme and players so there's less bend. Also situational football left a lot to desired this season. Meaning the Rams gave up a lot of points at the end of halves. That has to stop. Too many times did we give the opposing teams momentum before going in for the half.

I don't see a great overhaul but I do see them signing some DB FA's, and picking some higher draft picks where needed in our DB room. I'd also like to see them get a ILB that can come in on passing downs. Pass defense isn't Landmans or Speights forte. I do think they might have that guy in Dolac but who knows, I haven't seen enough of him to really make that jump.

Seeing what Seattle did to NE shows me how good this rams team really was this season. If we were in the SB I would suspect the game would have been a little closer but I still think it would have been a comfortable win for the Rams. But I digress, our defense needs some work because even with our high powered offense our defensive struggles were enough to get Seattle to the big game, and that wont change unless the Rams get better on that side of the ball.

Guys I'd like to see come in on FA

DB Dean - Tampa
DB Watson - Chiefs
DB Hilton - Indy

ILB Devin Lloyd - Jags (although I doubt they let him walk)
ILB Devin Bush - Browns
ILB Nakobe Dean - eagles

If we can land two of those guys our defense will get better immediately.

What I'd like to see is that they figure out how what worked so well ended up not working so great at times
Clearly the potential is there as they played some high level defense. I think the changes are more subtle than most think.

Honestly, I feel like every single concern on D is fixed with a couple upper level corners. My biggest hope is we do what the eagles did a few years ago and double up. Mansoor with 13…and I’m hoping that McCoy falls the way Will Johnson did
