I don't think that play was Reeder's fault. 4th and 1, the Bucs unexpectedly run outside, and Reeder is supposed to tackle the 240 lb. Fournette in the backfield? Reeder got his hand on his ankle but it wasn't enough. Had he made the stop it would have been the best defensive play of the game but imo it was a long shot to even get that close.
Yup. They sold out to stop a Tommy boy sneak.

Sounds like Jones might play some. I'm thinking that will be big, especially in coverage.

I'm thinking it will be more of a factor on 1st down if they run him with Reeder. Reeder's wearing the Green Dot, so Jones won't be in for him... and Howard is probably better in coverage than Jones right now.

The Fuller injury had a ripple effect on the D because of the green dot. If Reeder has to be out there in coverage, Ratface will go after him and Long. Those 2 make too easy. Hope Morris can adjust

I keep going back to the last game...
19 missed tackles.
Much more than Reeder and Long being issues.. and Long had a really nice game last week.
I know you agree on the tackling.. .it just bothers me.

the tackling had me seeing red that 2nd half. So many wasted opportunities for TFL or no gains went for at least 5 or more yards. That's fucking backbreaking.

But I still think we are going to pull this off. I don't think McVay will stop being aggressive and Akers I feel will be key on Offense. The D will play 4 qtrs and we will beat these fucking bastards

i feel pretty confident about this game...

but still nervous..

the defense has been playing lights out, but the offense has had a few issues...

don't get me wrong, we wouldn't be here without the play of the O, i just hope staff and co get their focus on...

i think they will...

but here's my reason why i think we win...

a reporter, for who cares, was watching the rams in training camp, and the rams were doing red zone plays... stafford throws an int and the d runs it back for a td... the reporter says he immediately looked to see staffords reaction as the defense was celebrating and saw nothing , no regret, no sorry, no shame, just a look of let's go....

he then torched the #1 defense of last year for the next 7 consecutive red zone plays....

so ram fans, if the niners get blasted (and i hope they do) celebration is on....

but if there is a glitch (fumble, int, sack) i'm good...

because i got matt stafford, and you don't...

go rams

I honestly think the Rams defense was embarrassed by that last Niners game. Watch the difference in intensity between that game and the next vs the Cardinals. They came out with a different sense of urgency, a different level of energy. They carried that over into the Tampa game where they dominated Tom and company. If it wasn't for the four fumbles, this game wouldn't have been close. I think they clamp down on the Niners run game Sunday and force Jimmy to carry the team. I see a Rams 24-13 victory.

I call a little BS on that. Go back & see how The Rams started against that team they play this week.

Look at who had to come out of retirement. You tell VON MILLER & AD99 that they are going to play any harder ? They’d KNOCK you on your BUTT!!

The difference might be the purpose & what’s at stake. That loss didn’t mean as much as it does Sunday.

We should try using a full back in our run game against these guys. That would neutralize their LBs and let us control more of the game.
Put Gaines in at fullback, and let him crack Fred Warner through the hole

For being a defensive thread I’ll just defend Matthew Stafford as I’m glad he is The Rams QB,but it ain’t that easy.

Something that's going to drive some people on here batty.. but seems to make a lot of sense.. is playing Jalen A TON at the STAR position in this game. The 9ers move Deebo around so much and put him in the backfield so much.. it's just not like putting Ramsey on a guy wide and keeping him there.

I was listening to The Athletic Football Show and the two hosts both felt strongly that putting Ramsey in the Slot/Star was the way to go in this matchup because of what the 9ers do short and in the middle of the field.

I hope Ernest Jones can play. Teaming him up with Travis Howard could help against the Niners run game. I’ve even thought maybe they could go with three linebackers on some first downs. Howard and Jones are versatile enough to drop into coverage on the short middle throws that Garapolo favors. Plus it will be insurance against the run. The less I see of Deayon trying to cover Jennings, the better.

I agree here and have not been a fan of Deayon as of late because he's just too small IMO. Not sure about the three linebackers, but bring up the safety closer to the LOS and Jones is a must as Reeder, who is very good blitzing, struggles with his angles & tackling.

I'm pretty sure we won't see Jones instead of Reeder... I think we'll actually see Reeder with Jones sometimes.

Reeder has the green dot.. he's not coming off the field.

Jones is better than Reeder.

My thought on three LBers is threefold. 1. The Niners haven't played as well against teams with three linebackers. 2. Rapp may be out. So I’d rather see Howard and Jones in. 3. Small backup DBs don’t fare too against big pass catchers.

I know Jones may be used sparingly due to his ankle. I hope he’s a full go. He took over in the middle before his injury.
