As we've discussed a lot there aren't many options.
And yes I've talked about Hoecht and his limitations way too much. A few people were very unhappy with me about it in camp/preseason/draft. My feelings are very much public record about him. And you can put the ILB not named Ernest Jones in the same group.
I started to do a mock but truthfully I just don't know what to do with the picks after the top 2. There aren't a ton of Edges or CB available in free agency. I'm locked in LT and QB with the top 2 unless one of the QB's isn't there in the 2nd because I don't think we'll draft high enough for the top 2 and not a fan of most of the next 3 or 4 unless McCarthy declares. I want a RB and WR but I can't justify them until day 3 which limits them same with TE. These mock off seasons will be rough coming up. It's almost at the point I'm thinking a trade down might be in order.
Agree 100%.
QB and LT are paramount. After that, trading down in the 3rd (or even the 2nd if we could still nail a QB and LT) could provide the ammo to trade for a decent CB.
Edge: Young is balling out. This guy is gonna make a lotta noise. Having two above average Edge guys is a luxury, but essential if the Rams are gonna compete for a title. This is a draft possibility but I wouldn’t prioritize it above the QB and LT. Someone would just have to fall in our lap.
DL: Turner is another rookie steadily improving. With BB3 back, another big body in the rotation can be had on day 3 or a cut, whatever it takes.
…so maybe the Rams double down on the OL with their third pick in the draft and grab a RB later. I would not complain. This is not a championship OL and doubt it would be even if the Rams score on a LT. The Rams aren’t winning a SB with a rookie Quarterback in ‘24, so protecting Stafford has got to happen.
