When will the RAMS get another shot at playing on Thanksgiving Day? I love watching the games that day, I’d even love it more if the RAMS were participating but that’s not the case since 1975 when the RAMS shutout the Detroit Lions 20-0. Maybe that has something to do with it :cautious:

A little more info on the Thanksgiving Day game:

Notable appearance droughts

The last two current active franchises to have never played on Thanksgiving through 2014 are Carolina and Jacksonville, both of which joined the league in 1995. The Browns have not appeared since the rejoining the league as an expansion team in 1999, and the Rams have not played since 1975, when the team was still in Los Angeles.
An idiosyncrasy in the NFL's current scheduling formula, which has been in effect since 2002 and revised in 2010, effectively precludes teams from the AFC North from playing the Lions or Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Without further revisions or exceptions to the formula, AFC North teams can only appear in the prime time game.
San Diego has the longest active appearance drought as of 2014. They have not played on Thanksgiving since 1969, one year before the AFL–NFL merger.
Since 2010, the league has made efforts to end the longest droughts. Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Cincinnati, and Baltimore all played their first Thanksgiving game during this time frame, as did Houston, who joined the league in 2002. San Francisco likewise played their first Thanksgiving game since 1972 in 2011.

They're gonna have to be a lot better than they've been for over the last decade if they want to play on Thanksgiving. Detroit's a given, but I wonder if they regret that during those bad years, like the 0-16 year?

With the addition of Thursday Night football ,where every team gets a game, I could care less if I saw the Rams on Thanksgiving or not.

Besides, if the Rams were on , then when would we sleep off all that turkey etc?

from what I understand, you are the only person who thinks so !!
:whistle::ROFLMAO:

The whole Thanksgiving "tradition" has always pissed me off. It unfairly provides for advantages to the two home teams every friggin' year!

They get to play an opponent who has to travel, every year, on a short week then get the advantage of the long break the following week. I don't understand why these games can't be rotated through the league instead of handing DET and the cowgirls competitive advantages year in and year out.

And, I'm not buying that "tradition" is reason enough to stay with the status quo.

One last thing, f%&k the cowgirls!

As an English guy Thanksgiving is one of my favourite weekends of the year, 3 games on the Thursday, 3 decent college games on the Friday, last Saturday of college regular season, then a normal Sunday of NFL. Plus none of the pressure of having to do anything with your family or cooking a big turkey.

Just wish we'd give up this Black Friday bull shit, in America it makes sense, it's the day after Thanksgiving, much like us Brits have Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) in England it's the day after a random Thursday in November.

I have a funny story about Thanksgiving in Britain. Around 10-11 years ago, my wife was a grad student in England at the University of Leeds. She had introduced her friends to Thanksgiving her first year there. They all loved it, because let's face it, how can you not love a holiday where the point is to eat turkey/pumpkin pie, drink beer/wine/liquor, watch some football, and just relax? Anyway, her family sent her a pinata months before hand, and she could never get rid of it. So she filled it with candy and used it on her first English Thanksgiving. Ever since then, this group of friends all celebrate Thanksgiving in England every year with their respective families and use a pinata. My wife never had the heart to tell them that pinata have nothing to do to with Thanksgiving.
