I've always given Fisher credit for building up the roster so as to put out that dumpster fire he inherited.
His downfall was lack of coaching and neglecting to hire a competent staff.

1. Fisher yes on Gurley. Snead gets credit as well, also Shotty just took the OC job at Georgia. There was a lot of Info there on his knee.
2. I question that ?? Greg Robinson before him ? Snead is right there on the evaluation. Johnny Football anyone.They also wanted the All-Pro from ND on Dallas.
3.Try Johnson - I give Fisher full credit , but why he was not signed to a multi-year deal has sucked.
4. Jared Goff - I question that ? Don’t think he was all in.
5.Johnny Hekker was all Snead !! He got him as a UDFA !!
6. It was Also Mainly Snead who went with Greg the Leg.They released Jones & High $$ kicker Brown
7.Snead - Brockers - what a heck of a trade. RG111.
8. Once again Snead traded back to get Ogletree who they had rated way above, but knew his draft value.

Fisher gets credit for The Rams professionalism’s. He brought a great team character.He was a players coach who the team respected until the tipping point. He helped create a good foundations. He was stuck in his ways.

McVay brought in a great staff & were great at player personal.

Fisher's an excellent training wheels coach a la M. Schottenheimer, John Fox, and Mike Singleterry; good for building a foundation for decimated teams, not so much taking it to the next level. I'll always talk harshly about his process in managing the offense but his defense and special teams are elite
 
Hell No I'm not thanking Fisher for anything except getting his ass canned.

Sure, he made a few picks with all his #1 choices...whoopy. Most guys on this site can draft wisely in the first and second round.

And, what if we could have had a coach that could not only draft, but coach as well???

So, Fisher can Suck It! He should get cred for NADA!!!
 
Fisher did make us go from a horrible team.. to a almost average team.. he could produce defensive savvy.

However this thread does make me laugh a bit... start winning and even your scapegoats start getting love!

As far as how they have drafted.. I'd have to see a comparison to other franchises and some statistical breakdown to really be able to evaluate that.

We don't actually know if the draft picks was Snead or Fisher. We can sit here and speculate all day but we're completely in the dark when it comes to draft and FA picks in the FO.

It is well documented by the writers that cover the team that Fisher pushed for and chose Goff.

Alden Gonzalez, the ESPN beat writer for the Rams wrote about Fisher / Goff within the last 2-3 weeks

Synopsis of me beating a dead horse:

Fisher absolutely wanted Goff. He saw Goff as a rookie while seeing a game visiting his son at Cal. He bragged about this to Mike Silver. He saw the arm and the pocket presence and wanted to be smarter than everyone else. Yet, Fisher knew less about how to develop Goff than I do about the prehistoric history of Madagascar. If there was ever a question about that, Hard Knocks dispelled any confusion on the subject.

The best fit with Fisher by far was Wentz. When they visited Wentz, almost assuredly at Snead's insistence, Fisher was surprised. Wentz made it a closer call than Fisher imagined. Fisher needed a more finished product immediately and behind a mediocre OL, he needed a scrambling QB. Honestly, while he had success with Kerry Collins, Collins was a seasoned Vet. The only success he had with a younger QB was McNair and he almost developed in spite of Fisher.

But Fisher couldn't help himself. (I'm very glad for this)

It's easy to understand why people think Goff wasn't Fisher's pick because the better fit for Fisher was Wentz.

The better fit for someone like McVay or Asshole Face would by far be Goff.

Some people conflated the two or superimposed their desires in a QB with "best" and/or "best fit".

Okay, off to wash off...

So anyone could draft....but he could draft and gets no credit, but just couldn't coach.

See, I'm as down on Fisher as the next guy, but the Rams have had guys like Rich Brooks, Spags and Linehan.

If you give Fisher no credit, then you just don't understand the horror of our roster prior to him being hired.

And that's fine, just be aware that facts will obviate this opinion.

A bigger thank you Jeff Fisher for being so inept at coaching those picks it led to your firing and the hiring of Sean McVay. :cool:

Yeah, but just how much credit do you wanna give Fisher? He had a ton of pics and missed on just as many as he hit on.

How much worse would drafting have been if it was another coach instead of Fisher? I don't think it could be much worse if not better.

Therefore, what's the reason to thank Fisher for anything?

Just credit where credit is due.

I mean, in the NFL, you're LUCKY if you can hit on half of your picks. Honestly, scouting is as much art as science and every GM/HC doesn't appreciate the same styles of art. So, generic scouting is valuable, but it has its limits.

Others have posted a list that were Fisher's.

I think two guys who were mostly Fisher's concept of 1st round guys should be Best Player Available regardless of position were Gurley and Donald.

So, even if that's all he contributed, I'd be thankful for that.

He drafted pretty well. Think anyone can do it? Ask Cleveland fans how "anyone can draft".

If you realized how hard it is to consistently pick winners in the NFL draft, you'd understand that Fisher's not the devil.

He's not a very good HC and I've said for awhile that he may always have been a better front office guy.

You may not know, but this is me, the guy who basically got run off the board for pounding the table that Fisher was historically bad in a number of categories. Go back and look at my posts in Jan-May of 2016, both before the draft and after.

And even being me, I'm thankful for the things he got right.

It's not even being generous...it's accounting.

I have no hate for Fish and don't mind him gettin some cred for the fact that this wasn't a total rebuild.

But Snead also deserves some cred. As does Kroenke; Fish/Snead wasn't a bad hire for his first one, they returned the Rams to respectability and allowed the next hire to be a quick turnaround.

Fish ain't gonna get another shot for a while though, if ever, thanks to how well McVay has done. And McVay's performance is also going to lead to a lot of other vet coaches being fired I think. Lot of owners are going to be all over the hot coordinators.

Was he all in on the trade ? I think maybe he was real upset about not signing JJ.

I do commend Fisher for starting Case Keenum.Ram fans that thought different ,I believe were wrong.

I’m not sure the timing for the change was right ? I did at the time. For Fisher it wasn’t because Case would not been 0-7.

I 100% have your back on 1-7 but drafting 'Tree was a god damn blessing and a no-brainer. If it weren't for an off the field incident he likely would have been a top 17 pick and possibly the highest graded LB on most team's boards. I'm sure many had him graded better than his UGA team mate Jarvis Jones who went 17th to Pittsburgh.
