Defenses would react similarly to Pharoh executing his responsibilities. And Pharoh would also give us a little yards after contact or be able to run a normal pattern out of the formation.

When Tavon lines up everyone knows he's gonna run one of a limited group of plays. Not so with Pharoh. IMO he would upgrade us in terms of how defenses gameplan McVay's offense. And you could also have a guy like Reynolds run those jet sweeps too btw, he's bigger and rangier but has some wheels and can threaten the edge.

People are confusing scheme and the player. This scheme, believe it or not, will still function just fine without Tavon.
Yup.

If RB's Brown & Dunbar are once again in active this week I would triple his snaps on the field & double his carries so Gurley is not over utilized & worn down. TA will need to carry the load as best as he can. Now's the time to get it done. TA is fresh, fully healthy & under utilized here with 5 games remaining.

Just to complicate things, Tavon is gonna have a huge game in the playoffs I'll bet.

Tavon's as good as gone, it's going to be a football/money decision. I don't hate the dude, he's just not a fit nor a good player in this particular scheme and makes way too much money for what he provides. That isn't gonna change, so don't expect McVay to keep him around.

Right now I guarantee you Sean's thinking about his scheme with someone like Pharoh running those sweeps, and considering that whoever that is can also run actual patterns and catch the ball meaning that DB on him can't focus in on the limited tree you see with Tavon. IMO we are going to see a cutback on Tavon focus as we get nearer and nearer the playoffs. I am certain of that, because McVay isn't willing to sacrifice the team's potency for one guy.

I love it when fans make coaching decisions. We'll see what McVay does, I'll trust whatever decision he makes.

I need to start grabbing screen shots of the all 22.

I just hope that one defensive coordinator starts sleeping on Tavon like some of you guys are sleeping on the guy.

He's a Ram. He's a playmaker. I will continue to cheer him on as so.

I think next season the rams deal him to Cleveland for a 2nd round pick and dump his salary. Either that or McVay will find a way to make him more useful to the offense.

I totally disagree, he's had his moments in games where he's messed up or let people down. But for the most part when they go to him he gets positive yards or is a very very effective decoy. Watch the replays and watch how hard LBs and DBs bite on his fakes. It really does open things for Gurley and company.

Speaking of tavons blunders. He's had his ups and downs this season and so have others on this team.
Sammy Watkins giving up on routes
Woods starting a fight against the skins that might have single handedly cost us the game.
Kupp dropping a game winning pass in Seattle and biffing it in Minnesota.
Higher dropping multiple passes in critical moments.

Point is all of these players have freaked up multiple times this season but they all contribute to our offense being the highest scoring in the league. If TA goes away maybe that changes some.

I think next season the Rams approach TA and have him adjust his contract. I also think he gets labled as a RB and put on ten lbs of muscle. I dunno i see him more of a Daren sproles roll. He's got the perfect frame and body type for it.
That was fucking an elegant post sir! Are you really The Most interesting Man in the World? haha

On a side note is anybody else paranoid Brown already being back from his injury? Maybe it's just me but those type of injuries are narley and I would rather be safe than sorry and bring him back next week vs the Eagles. Same with Dunbar. Let Tavon run against the Dead Birds.

It may be crazy but I really think McVay is going to roll him out during the playoffs--sort of a secret weapon. I always liked him and I think he has God-given talent. Who knows but I think his time will come as there is plenty of football left this season.

I like Tavon as well. I still think he got the shaft from a coaching standpoint the last few years. If you watch his play from his rookie year, he was a better WR. Maybe he just bulked up too much to handle the wear and tear of the NFL, but he certainly has regressed.

That being said, he provides one positive contribution for sure. When he runs that jet sweep action, teams over-react to it like nobody else. That by itself may be enough to ensure he's part of the offense.

Agreed! Tavon has always! drawn a crowd from his rookie season. Every NFL DC & his grandmama knows what Tavon can do in the open field and every last one is determined not to be the one who gets his players posterized by our Little Big Man's electric speed & quicks. The thing is to get enough offensive threats out there with Tavon so the DCs simply cannot afford to key on him like they have been doing.

After this season all of responsibilities can be turned over to Cooper but right now he still has some use. If any defense we play slips just a little, one time he's going to get a TD on some of those plays. That may be needed in the playoffs.

Cooper isn't fast enough for those jet sweeps. But assuming we keep Sammy, I think using him on the jet sweep could be interesting. I assume they don't do it now because they want him for the PA deep balls off of that action.
