He could be after a few records before he quits. Two seasons above 4,000 yards (which is around his average) puts him 3rd all time, behind Brees and Brady. He needs 8 4th Quarter comebacks to overtake Brady for 1st. He needs 13 more game winning drives to overtake Brady for 1st. Those are all more than possible if he plays 2 to 3 more seasons relatively injury free

And of course, it’s not uncommon for QBs of his stature to win more than one Super Bowl, often including one later in their career

How long Stafford plays will depend on his health, whether he’s on a Super Bowl caliber team and how much these potential records mean to him in terms of his legacy.

If so, maybe I am a buyer at 3 more years irrespective of whether we manage to repeat in Sofi
Records are great, but it would be much easier on my heart if the Rams wins come easier than last minute drives.

Guaranteed on the pathetic 49er, Hawks and itty bitty Cards websites they are trying to make fun of the Rams for this contract. Dopes I say, DOPES!

They had to get Stafford's contract figured out first now before any of the the other extensions could happen or even any other big trades.

This opens things up for the FO to move forward with any other moves especially with June 1st fast approaching.

By the time I noticed the typo, I couldn't edit the post anymore. Damn iphone. Its suppose to be "explain"
Don't feel bad about it. I actually assumed the word was applicable, and I was dumb for not knowing.

Now ... I should feel bad about that. Fortunately, I am old and forgetful ... so, if I feel bad, it won't last long.

I see what you did there Matthew.
No doubt. And congrats to him and family on the extra security.

I think it's interesting his best season occurred after an offseason in which he ended up agreeing on what was probably the Rams' number. It felt like he went out there and showed the Rams he deserves that payday and after that MVP they had no choice.

And his playoff performance during the 2021 season was similar, in that he was at his very best when some in the media were openly doubting his ability to win a playoff game.

Giving a player security very late in their careers can be risky. But Matthew is worth it, no doubt about it. It would be nice to see the Rams offense put up a strong run game to complement him though, and by that I mean a run game that can produce when they want it to, no matter the opponent or situation. Our run game always feels fragile, even when it's working we will sometimes see defenses tighten it up and it insinuates to me that we get a lot of yards on the ground due to defenses expecting passes. Instead of having the type of run game where the defense knows it's coming but cannot stop it and they get worn down, which is the type of run game I'd love to see us have.

But aside from all this gotta say this feels like the type of roster that can get a title run done. It's hard to imagine our defense not being in that elite group this year. They were 15th in scoring against a couple years ago, 10th last year. If they can climb into that elite range though we've got a great chance to be the last team standing.

Do I wish they woulda used their first pick on a receiver? Yeah. Makai Lemon woulda been a good fit at WR3 and then WR2 the following years. Simpson's not likely to see the field till 2028. Or even later.

But here's the thing. They drafted an athletic tight end with their next pick. They have another athletic tight end in Ferguson. Parkinson is no slouch athletically. Higbee can make some nice catches down the field.

They use 13 personnel more than anyone. Heck, they can make it look like 11 personnel with the ability of those tight ends. So maybe a WR3 isn't a big deal this year. And they can always look for one in next year's draft.

Another reason to be optimistic about picking a quarterback. If McVay wasn't committed to sticking around long term would he want that pick to be for someone who doesn't expect to play for at least two years? Not to mention the kid gets to learn from the best QB/coach combo in the league. Stafford is not like Brett Favre who once said its not his job to mentor Aaron Rogers. Stafford will be there for any learning opportunity Simpson needs.

Now that the Lakers got swept, the City of Angels are counting on the Rams to bring home the glory. Stafford can make that happen. What a time to be a Rams fan! 49's fans and Seachicken fans are not happy knowing the next two years are going to be hell.
You've heard of the back to back, defending World Series Champion LA Dodgers, right?

And this is why the league will have difficultly using 13 going forward.

We were able to run a decent amount of our 11 personnel plays (we didn't need to install all new stuff) out of 13 with this group.

Most teams will not.

Can't wait, to see the product Simpson becomes, after marinating in the McVay/Stafford mix for 2 years. Wont be a FINISHED product either at that point.

Honestly, Allen deserves to be mentioned amongst them. Not only is he a hell of a blocker, but he was very reliable as a pass-catcher and chain-mover last year, from the first game on. I'd be very happy if they re-signed him to go along with Ferguson and Klare. Obviously not as happy as I would be if they signed Parkinson to a steal of a deal (and I don't want to overpay for either of them), but very happy nonetheless.

As for WR3, I really think all three of the receivers are going to improve. Whittington's going into Year 3 - an important milestone for receivers, and with a new special teams coach than Blackburn, I think he returns to his outstanding self on teams. Mumpfield is hopefully going to improve from last year's stats. I love the UDFAs we got last year; each of them had important moments in preseason last year, and I love Edwards in particular; big, good hands, sneaky good speed.

And I really love Daniels as a pick; I think he'll be a steal. He's big, catches literally everything, and he has sneaky athleticism; he struggles with separating, but he's done go routes where he's caught the ball. Honestly, the injury concerns are the only reason why he was at the sixth-round; he had third-round grades, and I think trading up for him in the sixth was done because the Rams thought he wouldn't be there at their Texans' sixth-round pick.

And the irony with that Daniels pick? That sixth-round pick we traded to move up? That was the pick we got for Ben Skowronek. And one of the comp picks we also used to trade up for Daniels was the one for Demarcus Robinson. Even when they're no longer on the team, the wide receivers we've had keep paying it forward.
