Rams Sign Dresser Winn to back Up Stafford
Though it may appear to be merely window dressing the Rams went all in and signed QB Dresser Winn to the practice squad, the team announced on Wednesday. Winn went undrafted and was signed by the Rams in the offseason and then released before the regular season.
Rams' General Manager Les Snead and Head Coach Sean McVay have been searching for a backup QB in case Stafford can't play against the Packers this weekend. They have also spoken with former Browns QB Tim Couch about unretiring in case they need him. Couch, who hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since 2003, has been reportedly playing pickup basketball to stay in shape. The Rams also may be signing former Ram David Rocker and Bear Refrigerator Perry for more defensive line rotation and Todd Lyght to replace the ineffective Derion Kendrick. CB Larry Loveseat, who had been in the Cardinals' camp, is also being considered.
So the Rams have apparently been busy rearranging the furniture since Stafford's thumb injury vs the Cowboys as they try to halt a 2-game losing streak. Dresser may not dress for Sunday's game if Stafford is active and in uniform but it remains a game time decision as the Rams try to skirt a 3rd loss in a row.
