That was the thing about the debate that irked me the most, the insistence that Jared was garbage, that he was lazy, that he got a hot GF and lost his drive to be good, that we as no better than a JAG, etc.

I'm still for the trade too, as Stafford showed himself to be elite and I do think peak Stafford is better than peak Goff. But Goff showed he was pretty GD good when he's put in the right situation, and that was something McVay increasingly failed to do for him during his last year in LA. The contrast between 2020 Goff in LA and 2022 Goff in Detroit bears that out.

And I think with what Goff has done this year in Detroit has established him near the upper end of the tier that is one level below elite.
I don't think Goff has peaked yet.

Quay doesn't like to be touched. He's a touch freak.

I have enjoyed watching Goff play this year. May he have continued success next year and beyond.

where's that guy that kept saying goff would be out of the league after two years in detroit?

i haven't seen him post much about the subject lately.

.
Yeah if Goff did poorly, I was definitely going to show a Crow Dinner gif.

I have never respected Mayfield until this year. He showed me something that forced me to re-evaluate him as a player. Baker showed me this season that he is in many respects an equivalent of Goff. Goff has more polish to his game because he's always been a pocket passer. That said Mayfield has shown real development in his ability to play from the pocket, i.e. to read defenses while working through his progressions. He also showed that given enough talent around him and an offense that was a scheme fit he can elevate his game.

That's why those who were detractors of Goff while in LA should be cautious when evaluating Mayfield. People didn't believe me about Goff when he was in LA. That it had more to do with McVay than how good Goff is. IMO McVay squandered Goff's talent because he wasn't his QB. He was the QB Sean inherited.

Mayfield is a good fit for McVay's offense, and the Rams will provide Mayfield with a quality team on both sides of the ball. Give Mayfield a year of practice and learning the players and McVay's offense and then judge Baker's play. All I'm saying is that Baker detractors should withhold their judgment about Mayfield. Why? Because McVay's staying has just increased the odds of Mayfield staying. Also, I think that prospect was an important factor in Sean staying. If Baker leaves which IMO is now less likely, McVay stays only as long as Stafford can play. With Mayfield, McVay has a shiny new toy to "play" with.

From all reports, Mayfield has cleaned up his locker room presence. He will always be a diva but as long as he is a good leader in the locker room and on the field then I will be okay with him. I was talking to my neighbor today and he was saying he and his friends hope Baker doesn't stay with the Rams. That they all think Mayfield has developed into the player they had hoped Kyler would become but never will because of his guaranteed contract. That contract makes him untradeable and locks the Cards in until 2026

IMO Kyler's contract will limit the HCs who they will be able to hire this year.
