Maybe, just maybe, Rams scouts are deficient in evaluating certain positions?

Such as:

OL (Creed Humphrey)
RB
TE
Edge

Snead’s scouts have excelled at other positions, especially considering how low Rams are forced to draft, but boy have they missed opportunities at those listed positions over the years.

I understand that scouts work by geographic regions by necessity, but perhaps Rams need better final decision makers at the top for these positions when it becomes table pounding time?

Perhaps someone to replace the likes of Brad Holmes and Ray Agnew? I hope Snead gives this serious consideration.

And while I’m at it, McVay might better dial back his urge to go overboard on skill positions at the top of drafts/FA and give more emphasis to fundamental necessities such as OL. The Atwell/Humphrey fubar is a classic example. One that will take me 10 years to get over, frankly.

Some judicious tweaking in scouting and draft priorities might yield some significant benefits.

Thoughts?

I am still not over trading back to get a 5th round useless pick instead of getting Wagner instead of Peat.

WR isnt great either....

From last year we lost some great to solid starters... some big names also.

Woods
Whitworth
Vaughn Miller
Odell Beckham JR
D.Williams
Corbett

I just look at this team.. especially on the offensive side and see a lack of play makers.

People lament the offensive decline for good reason.. but back in the day we had Gurley, Higbee/Everett, Woods, Kupp, Cook and some others... our offensive personnel is so depleted.

I remember when people on this board wouldn’t let Pead go… constant posts about him coming back and doing some miracle…. Kinda like the Tutu crowd. It seriously boggles my mind at some points.

I guess if we drafted Evans in the 2nd there would be those same people.. the dreamers?

Not sure how far back you’re going, but…

OL: We just won a Super Bowl with 3 draftees as starters.

TE: Higbee is the all-time yardage leader among Rams TEs.

RB: Cam Akers looked pretty darn good before his injury.

EDGE: We’ve been relying on FAs/trades (Matthews, Fowler, Floyd). I’d like to see us take a pass rusher with a Top 60 pick. Maybe next year.

I don’t attribute our current problems to a deficiency in scouting.

I honestly don't see those kinds of Tutu posts at all. I see people hoping he turns into a plus for the team. On the other hand, not an opportunity is missed to bring up Creed. Believe me, we all get it, and >95% on here would rather have Creed. Nothing is going to change it now, but beat away on that dead horse.

I don't think it's the evaluation, I think it's the prioritizing of certain positions. Most of this board wanted to draft Oline last year instead of Tutu Bustwell. We wanted to shore up the line, and last year the team rolled the dice with what we had, and got lucky. This year, they are paying the price.

You would think this team didn't even make the playoffs last year with all the moanings about what ifs. What about this what if....the OL and Jefferson stayed healthy. This team would probably be 7-1 right now.

You guys act like the season is over. This team has players if they would play them. Why Tutu over McCutcheon? Why Kendricks over Rochell? Rochell doesn't abandon his assignments. He's better in man coverage and probably in zone because he's faster and quicker.

If they are really thinking about trading Robinson then it probably means they are looking at bringing back OBJ.

Bottom line is that this season is a long way from being over. They are about two weeks away from getting Shelton back to replace Evans. That would solve a whole bunch of OL issues. Time to see if Brewer can play LG. He can't be any worse than Evans.

Do you think the Rams make the Playoffs if they don't win the Division?
Eagles / Giants / Cowboys / Seahawks 1st and runner ups making the playoff, don't think the rams
Gotta be top 7 to be the Wildcard... can they do it?

Several seasons ago we drafted a WR in the third round.
Who would've predicted he would become arguably the best receiver in the game.
Triple crown record breaker.
Super Bowl MVP.

I think the draft can work both ways sometimes.

Things wouldn't seem so bleak if we would've ended up with Cole Strange, Creed Humphrey and Logan Bruss eh

Yeah, that one hurt. I was pissed when we moved up to get Austin instead of staying put and getting Hopkins and a starting OL.

The problem is the short sightedness of 95% of posters, so unfortunately no. They don’t get it. It’s easy to have to 20/20 after the fact but to have it during the fact. That’s something else entirely.

Ps go to the first year Tutu was drafted. Speaking of shortsightedness, those arrogant posters were fooling themselves all along and refused to see anything else. Yet, they constantly have posted nonsense since then with the confident ignorance.

Just saying

“We should take a center. Creed Humphrey looks good.”

“We took Tutu Atwell!?! Dang… could have had Humphrey. Well…I hope it works out.”

“Seems like Tutu is struggling. Hope they can find a role for him. Sucks that we missed on Humphrey. That guy’s really good.”

“Looks like we really missed on this one.”

- 98% of Rams fans.

“I told you we should have taken Humphrey. Now you see that I’m right. I have superior knowledge so you should always listen to me. Now we have a losing record and it’s all because of that one mistake!”

Season is a long way from being over - that being said, I’ve recalibrated my expectations from back to back SB’s to being scrappy for a wildcard spot. Not being pessimistic but realistic. And hoping we can get a W next week against that b*tch Brady

I didn't like the Tutu pick either, and was really hoping for a Center. I just don't feel the need to keep telling everybody, at every opportunity. It is in the past, and I have let it go.

Pretty accurate.
